Chapter 611: Chapter 393: Calling for Backup (2)
In that instant, Zhou Chen realized something.
Forbidden Object D-145: Fisherman’s Fishing Rod!
This Forbidden Object could catch anything except fish. It seemed that once something was hooked, even an Essence Armament withdrawn into one’s Soul couldn’t escape the fate of being reeled in!
’Isn’t the Fisherman’s Fishing Rod supposed to be in the containment department? How did one of Dupe’s subordinates get it?’ A question flashed through Zhou Chen’s mind, but his hands never stopped moving. He re-materialized the Dream Light and Shadow and secretly made a wish.
"Release the fishing line!"
[Wish Value -10]
The fishing line, which had been wrapped tightly around the spearhead, fell away without warning. The unsuspecting fisherman yanked hard, pulling on nothing, and lost his balance. He stumbled backward, landing on the rooftop with a THUD.
In his upside-down view, he saw a pale flame ignite right above his head, instantly flaring to the height of a man.
"You know, a while back I caught a big six-jin fish. With all this gear, I bet you don’t get skunked often, do you?"
Zhou Chen stepped out of the flames. As he spoke, he thrust out the Dream Light and Shadow, piercing the fisherman’s skull.
The fisherman’s eyes widened in horror, and he died with them open.
"And another thing—remember to wear a helmet when you go fishing. This is what happens when you don’t."
Just then, the fishing rod in the corpse’s hand flared with the light of an Alchemy Matrix. With a WHOOSH, it turned into a shooting star and flew toward the Hai City Star Association’s headquarters. The Receptor was dead, so the Recycling Array the Star Association had placed on it activated automatically.
’Looks like someone in Dupe’s organization managed to get the rights to use the Fisherman’s Fishing Rod...’ The realization dawned on Zhou Chen as he sidestepped.
CRACK!
A sniper bullet slammed into the rooftop, sending concrete flying and gouging out a bowl-sized crater.
Zhou Chen whipped his head around. In the distance, atop a skyscraper, the artsy-looking young man with the guitar case was now holding an anti-materiel sniper rifle. A faint but palpable killing intent was locked onto him from across the gap.
BANG!
It was like a clap of thunder. The armor-piercing Alchemy Curse Bullet tore through the air, a razor-thin line of electric light that flashed across the night sky and was gone.
Zhou Chen slid sideways, dodging the bullet. At the same time, the male and female cyborgs charged him, joined by two others—one who had been disguised as an office worker and another as a female college student.
But that wasn’t all. The mother with two small children, who had been in front of him in the elevator, now joined the assault. She was a Curse Master. From a relatively safe distance, she began a bizarre, evil dance, chanting a Spell that courted disaster. Black, twisting runes crawled across her face and neck. Her two "children" also revealed their true forms: two sharp-toothed, green-faced imps!
"Quite the collection of freaks and monsters," Zhou Chen clicked his tongue.
On the distant skyscraper, the artsy young man quickly chambered another alchemical round and pressed his eye to the scope, taking aim at Zhou Chen once more.
Then, time seemed to freeze. He saw a terrifying light ignite in Zhou Chen’s eyes.
Spiritual Death Light!
"AHH!"
The world went black for the young sniper. His brain felt as if it had been struck by a Heavy Hammer. He was dizzy, his ears rang, and blood poured from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. His eyes, already bloodshot, turned a solid, bloody red. Then—BANG!
His head exploded like a watermelon, splattering a viscous mixture of red and white in all directions.
Zhou Chen shifted his gaze to the woman dancing her bizarre ritual in the distance. Two tangible rays of deathlight shot from his eyes. A direct hit from the light would cause immense psychic shock.
"WAAH!" The two sharp-toothed, green-faced imps leaped up, shielding their "mother" from the fatal attack. They instantly exploded into black smoke and shrapnel. But a second later, the smoke converged, reforming their bodies. Screeching, they lunged at Zhou Chen with an uncanny speed.
At the same time, steel shrieked through the air. The four cyborgs crisscrossed, their blades weaving a deadly net of light that locked onto Zhou Chen’s vital points. They sealed off every escape route; he wouldn’t even have time to use Flame Teleportation!
Zhou Chen just grinned, a smirk of contempt.
The power of these four cyborgs was not to be underestimated. Their Power, speed, Defense Power, reaction time, and teamwork were far superior to that of an ordinary Ascender. They must have gone through incredibly rigorous training and development.
Unfortunately for them, today they had run into him.
BOOM!
Pale flames erupted outward. The cyborgs instantly activated their Defense Arrays to block the fire as their blades cut through all obstacles, descending on their target.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! The ceaseless ringing of steel on something else sent a shock through the four cyborgs. It didn’t feel like they were striking flesh and blood, but hacking at some kind of super-alloy!
Their vision was consumed by a blinding glare as piercing alarms shrieked from their internal systems. The temperature readings from their thermal sensors skyrocketed, then shot completely off the charts. A surging wave of fire slammed against their Defense Arrays, causing a web of fine cracks to appear and spread rapidly.
Activating his Body of Steel Melting, Zhou Chen transformed his arm into a massive hammer and brought it smashing down on the enemy before him.
Destruction of All Things!
CRUNCH!
With a deafening roar, a hurricane of force erupted. That single, simple hammer strike had effortlessly shattered every Alchemy Matrix on the cyborg’s body. Without the matrices to insulate it, its steel frame was now easily manipulated by Alchemy and Forging Skill.
With but a thought from Zhou Chen, the cyborg’s mechanical body began to contort. Amid the tooth-grinding screech of tormented steel, it was compressed out of thin air into an irregular metal sphere. Its brain was crushed to pulp, and its life was extinguished.
