Her strength was rapidly decreasing. The poison was weakening her from within, while the dark fog continued interfering with her consciousness. Ravena knew that her situation had become extremely dangerous, especially after she had just used most of her strength to survive the massive explosion inside her Domain.
Then, she suddenly heard footsteps approaching from somewhere nearby, Ravena slowly turned her attention toward the approaching presence.
A voice soon followed.
"Wow, its taste is really good. Dr. Samuel is really good with his work."
Ravena slowly raised her head and looked toward the source of the voice. Her expression became even more serious when she recognized who was approaching her. Standing not far away was Asher’s human vessel.
He was holding a small potion in his hand, with a straw placed inside it. He calmly took another sip from the potion with a satisfied expression, completely unconcerned by everything arround him.
Ravena stared at him silently for a moment. Her eyes remained fixed on Asher as she tried to understand how he was still standing there. Despite her weakening condition, she gathered enough strength to speak and finally asked, "Why are you still alive? You should have died in that explosion."
Asher simply took another sip from the potion in his hand. He looked completely relaxed.
He then calmly replied, "I just escaped from your Domain before the explosion could hit me."
Ravena’s expression immediately changed.
"How did you do that? That’s impossible. There is no way to escape from someone’s Domain without destroying it."
Her voice was filled with genuine surprise.
Ravena knew that escaping from another person’s Domain was practically impossible without either destroying the Domain itself or receiving permission from its owner. It was something every powerful being understood, yet Asher had casually claimed that he had done exactly that.
She struggled to remain conscious as the dark fog continued interfering with her body. She didn’t dare make any sudden movement either. The three demon vessels were still standing around her, ready to attack the moment she tried anything.
Even if she somehow managed to move, there was no guarantee she could escape from the being standing directly in front of her.
Trying to resist in her current condition would only be futile.
Asher looked at her calmly before giving a faint smile.
"Didn’t I tell you that I’m a coward? Something like a weak Domain could never trap me."
He then took another slow sip from the potion, showing no urgency.
After swallowing, Asher looked at potion in his hand and then continued in his usual relaxed tone, "Well, I did fulfill my promise, I guess."
For a brief moment, everything became silent.
Then Asher suddenly laughed.
It wasn’t a loud laugh, but something about his tone made the atmosphere around them feel strangely uneasy.
He continued laughing for a moment before finally saying,"Though... I am a little late."
He paused.A faint smile remained on his face.
"By billions of years."
"Billions of years? Promise?" Ravena muttered, a look of confusion appearing on her face as she continued staring at Asher. His strange presence had somehow become even more unsettling after those words, and she couldn’t understand what he was trying to imply.
"What does he mean by billions of years? Most people don’t even live for five hundred years."
Ravena remained silent, carefully observing him. The way Asher spoke made it sound as if billions of years were nothing more than a small amount of time that had passed.
Asher eventually stopped laughing.
His expression slowly changed, becoming quieter and more distant. For a brief moment, it looked as if he was thinking about something from the distant past, something that Ravena couldn’t possibly understand.
His eyes lost the playful expression they had carried moments ago.
Ravena watched him carefully, and a single question appeared in her mind.
’Just what are you?’.
Then, Asher’s playful expression returned to his face. He looked at Ravena for a moment before speaking in his usual calm tone.
"That’s enough questions from you, I guess. Now, you tell me why I should keep you alive, even after you tried to kill me."
Ravena looked at Asher and immediately stopped thinking about everything else. She had already expected him to ask this question, and she was prepared with her answer.
She then said confidently, "There are reinforcements coming here. You won’t be able to survive against them alone and escape from this place. You’ll need my help if you want to get out of here."
Ravena’s tone was confident.
She had been prepared for this moment. She knew that Asher had every opportunity to kill her earlier, yet he had deliberately kept her alive. If he didn’t need something from her, there was no reason for him to leave her alive.
Because of that, Ravena was certain that he needed her help.
No matter how strong Asher was, escaping from the facility while being pursued by a large number of reinforcements would still be difficult. With her Domain and blood manipulation, she believed she could become an important advantage for him.
However, Ravena’s confidence quickly disappeared when Asher made a slightly disappointed expression.
"Well, I can easily escape from here if I want. I don’t need your help."
Ravena’s eyes widened slightly.
Asher continued calmly, "It will just take a little more time for the reinforcements to arrive. Since I already destroyed the teleportation mechanism here, no one can teleport directly into this facility."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"The humans will first have to figure out what happened, ask a lot of questions, and then select someone to send here. All of that will take time."
Asher shrugged slightly.
"The human way of doing things is too complicated, you know."
Ravena’s expression became increasingly solemn as she listened to him.
Everything she had planned suddenly seemed useless.
She had assumed that the approaching reinforcements were the reason Asher had kept her alive. She thought her strength would be valuable to him.
