Aden Airport is not big.
Aziz bin Naif felt an overwhelming sense of unease.
A scene of extreme chaos and end-of-the-world vision unfolded before his eyes.
Aden Airport is too small.
The Shah Air Force has many planes.
The missile achieved a very good result, a crucial reason being the Shah Air Force’s planes were lined up too densely, too densely for planes.
This missile attack hit the edge of the runway, incidentally destroying a long row of fuel trucks. Gao Yang saw that the black mushroom cloud was caused by the explosion and burning of the fuel tanker.
The explosion of the fuel truck didn’t cause collateral damage to the other planes, but the blast radius of the fuel truck explosion was too large. The runway was littered with still-burning debris, thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Fire trucks were attempting to extinguish the fire, while soldiers were frantically shouting meaningless delirium. The runway was completely blocked by fire trucks and panicked soldiers. Takeoff? Impossible.
Everything happening at the airport had nothing to do with Aziz, but watching the heavily damaged airport, Aziz still felt an innate anger.
Why?
Why, with the best equipment in the world, the best treatment in the world, do they still perform so poorly?
Aziz felt heartache. None of this had anything to do with him; his mission wasn’t here, not in the army, but he couldn’t help feeling innate anger and pain.
Amid anger and sorrow, Aziz felt a strong sense of unease. That Russian, those Russians, they are all lunatics!
Aziz couldn’t help but glance at the stretcher beside him, where the Russian man was still unconscious.
Aziz now confirmed that the unconscious Russian man held a very important position. Otherwise, the Russians wouldn’t launch a large-scale attack to rescue him. Yes, Aziz had no doubt that everything that happened tonight was for this unconscious Russian man.
Or, it was to silence him, using a ballistic missile for annihilation.
"Captain! All our men sent to the airport were killed. The Russians launched a rescue operation; they did this. The military base was heavily damaged. We can’t send reinforcements over for now; please take off immediately, please take off immediately!"
"Got it."
Muttering a curse under his breath, Aziz bitterly thought if he could take off, why would he still be waiting here?
Aziz felt very fortunate, fortunate to have a very strong sixth sense.
Originally, transportation was supposed to be done by ground, secretly sending a plane to pick up people and quietly sending them to the airport to return home, and everything would be over. But after arranging everything, Aziz felt an intense unease and temporarily changed the plan. Instead of using cars to transport the important prisoner, he switched to a helicopter, though it was a lot more trouble.
But facts proved that his sixth sense was accurate. Caution once again helped him make the right judgment.
Thinking about the guards outside the airport, Aziz took a breath. He believed the airport’s defenses couldn’t be breached by a small group of Russians, but there was no point staying here anymore.
Damage control is something every nation’s air force and navy should repeatedly train and rehearse for, but looking at the country’s soldiers, Aziz felt sadness once again.
For any country’s air force, an airport being attacked should be something to face. If attack avoidance is impossible, at least after being attacked, it should rapidly restore the plane’s takeoff and landing function, regain combat effectiveness. But looking at his compatriots, what are they doing? Have they received training?
Aziz felt like an outlier in his country because he was willing to open his eyes to see the world. Moreover, as someone from an intelligence department, Aziz could open his eyes even wider.
However, the more he saw, the more he understood, the more it made him feel sorrowful and hopeless.
What kind of country is this, a wealthy country that cannot protect itself? What kind of army is this? The richest army nurturing cowardly and useless soldiers, almost entirely.
He sighed lightly, letting go of improper thoughts. Aziz stood up and shouted loudly, "Take him away, put him on the helicopter, we’re leaving here."
Aziz was very grateful that he was sent here, responsible for bringing the Russian man back. Otherwise, he had no doubt this Russian would be rescued or silenced.
Working diligently within his responsibilities, because he could only do his own job well, even though even within this limits, some were holding him back.
Aziz did not look at the Russian man. He stood up, quickly walked towards the helicopter cabin door, and went down the gangway, first glancing around, inevitably seeing the panicked crowd again. He heavily sighed, turned to look at the cabin door, and waved continuously, shouting, "Hurry up! Hurry up!"
Even carrying a person was this slow. Do they get exhausted by speeding up a bit?
Aziz rarely got angry at scolding his subordinates anymore, especially since these subordinates were temporarily assigned for his command. Because scolding and being angry are useless, except for shortening his lifespan.
The stretcher was carried down by two people, moving towards the helicopter thirty meters away.
After the protected hostage was delivered, the airport was attacked by missiles. Everyone was like frightened quails, except Aziz, only he remembered his mission, so he demanded the helicopter remain and not leave.
Aziz hadn’t figured out where to take the hostage, but it definitely had to be away from the airport. He wasn’t afraid the Russians could storm in to save or kill, but feared this terrible environment would kill the hostage.
Suddenly, Aziz heard an unexpected noise, he immediately turned his head to look and saw an armored vehicle.
Aziz’s eyes widened.
Why is there an armored vehicle on the runway, and what are those off-road vehicles for?
Suddenly, Aziz thought of a possibility that should not have appeared. He instinctively reached for his gun and shouted, "Take cover! With..."
The final order couldn’t be issued.
Aziz had just touched the gun holster when it ended. He was shot, falling to the ground.
His vision quickly blurred, and he saw someone jumping off the vehicle, many boots swaying before his eyes, and he heard someone happily shouting in Russian, "Here he is, it’s him, we found him, quickly, quickly!"
Aziz struggled to roll his eyes; he couldn’t see anything clearly.
Is it dark?
His chest hurt, a bullet hit the lung, but strangely Aziz felt his heart hurt more.
But there are so many guards out there, these Russians, how did they get in?
Aziz didn’t want to think about this question anymore, he was very tired, and he was about to die. He had thought for half his life, suffered for half his life, now it was time to rest, so he willingly closed his eyes.
Closing his eyes, Aziz’s tears flowed, two drops of tears, one hanging on his nose bridge, the other falling at the corner of his eye.
As the tears hit the ground, Aziz died.
