Why would this cold and indifferent, I hate omegas self proclaimed alpha sentinel who hated being stuck in the same room with an omega for even a few minutes.
Suddenly change his stance towards omegas out of nowhere?
When did they even get a chance to meet when Sly went from the admissions test straight to the placement test without a break?
Ever since meeting Sly Foxx Dr. Shirley took a liking to him especially since he was a protege of her idol Dr. Peter Jennings.
Based on Sly’s profile he had experienced so much loss from an early age not just his family but if he had his wishbone forcibly removed then his military career prospects also became very limited.
As a rare omega in a school populated with mostly betas and alphas, he was in a vulnerable state prone to abuse and bullying.
Dr. Shirley developed a strong protective instinct towards Sly.
If one was aiming for the stars then Khaldun Wolfe was not a bad prospect.
Coming from a private military prep before enrolling at the academy Khaldun Wolfe excelled in sports, the arts and all subject areas.
He also had an impeccable family background with legitimate ties to Royalty being the only son of the Sixth Prince and General Wolfe.
Most guides whether omega or beta would kill to be his exclusive guide.
In the eyes of the Ephedra Empire, Khaldun Wolfe was a shining star and more than a suitable match for Sly Foxx, an untrained B-tier omega guide.
In fact, Khaldun had wealth and access to better quality guides, so why did this stubborn sentinel decide to pursue an omega guide all of a sudden.
Did he realize that they were hiding the fact that Sly Foxx was an S-tier omega and a potential wishbone donor?
Dr. Shirley grimaced, if Khaldun decides to make things difficult for the EGA then her plans to study Sly Foxx may be over before they had begun.
She would never underestimate Khaldun Wolfe even though he was young Khaldun was just as devious and cunning as the rest of that treacherous Royal Family.
Even though she couldn’t understand his motives at all, perhaps she could reach a compromise with Khaldun until she found an alternative solution.
Dr. Shirley suddenly smiled, "Neither you nor Sly Foxx have had your eighteen birthdays yet when you’re both legally considered an adult in the Ephedra Empire you may take the test. So until that day comes I won’t stand in the way as long as you both are of age and meet the standard requirements to take the Guide Match Test."
Sensing Dr. Shirley’s resistance and Sly’s rising blood pressure, Khaldun acquiesced, "That’s fine with me, make sure you have everything ready in preparation for that day must come. In the meantime Sly and I can spend more time working on our compatibility."
Even though her eyes narrowed slightly Dr. Shirley’s smile never faltered, "That’s true, in a few days time you may even change your mind about matching with Sly Foxx. He’s after all just a B-tier omega guide, his spirit guiding efficiency may not do much to alleviate your chaotic spiritual energy."
Khaldun spoke rationally, "The fact that Sly Foxx is a B-tier omega guide doesn’t matter to me. I have long reconciled the fact that as a S-tier alpa guiding for me is always going to be mediocre, insufficient and lacking in quality. Mainly because of my vast tumultuous wavelengths that guides cannot manage to overcome. What matters to me is that he accepts his future as my exclusive guide, so he doesn’t need to display outstanding guiding spirit energy. I will figure out what is suitable and works for the both of us. I also want to protect Sly Foxx like you do and will do my best to avoid taking him on missions. Which other alpha sentinel would make such an offer to a mere B-tier omega guide?"
"Noted," said the temporarily beaten Dr. Shirley, "when your birthdays pass and you both still want to go in this direction. Then I will formally submit a match test request on your behalf to the Empire Guide Association."
"Mr. Howard please, ensure that Sly learns the basics and that he is mentally prepared for the Guide Match Test," advised Dr. Shirley.
"I will," said Mr. Howard. "Sly will stay overnight in the hospital and I will be there after he is released to take him personally to get sorted out with his classes."
Grudgingly Dr. Shirley had to admit that most Alpha sentinels were a selfish lot and would even use guides as shields to save their own skins if a crisis arises.
"I’d like to speak with Sly alone," requested Khaldun politely.
As soon as Sly nodded in agreement Dr. Shirley and Mr. Howard said their goodbyes with concern but left the hospital room without further argument.
Sly didn’t seem to care about their reactions at all.
It felt like leaving an innocent fluffy white lamb to be devoured by a wolf.
Unlike the otters the little lamb was a little tired but satisfied to be left alone with the wolf.
Nothing about what they had on file about Sly’s behavior and personality matched their research.
To them it was like Sly was a completely different person from the information Lord Duncan provided to the academy.
From what they observed in the admissions and placement tests he was a fearless, caring and hard working young man.
Sly’s father described him as anxious, cowardly and introverted.
Not a good fit for the academy and not expected to graduate on his own merit.
They wondered how his father would react if he saw Sly on the arena battlefield like they did earlier.
Sly was like a Christmas present they all wanted to unwrap early.
At times he appeared shy and at other times Sly possessed a frightening, intimidating aura when threatened.
Sly Foxx felt like his whole body came alive after Khaldun entered the room.
"I’m hungry," stated Sly, he hadn’t even gotten a chance to eat breakfast when his hospital room was bombarded by unwanted guests.
"Want me to find a nurse and have them reheat your breakfast," asked Khaldun.
"Not for hospital food," said Sly. "I want to leave the hospital."
