"What’s wrong?" asked Sly. "Should I go and get help?
"Worry about yourself for a change, it is not safe to be around me right now, you should leave this area," answered Khaldun.
Hot perspiration almost blurred Khaldun’s 20/20 vision.
Khaldun’s long eyelashes were moist from sweat and neatly stuck together.
Unconsciously his hand moved to rub his eyes but instead of helping to wipe the sweat from the corner of his eyes it only made matters worse as his eyes grew bloodshot.
Ignoring Khaldun’s advice Sly got that obstinate look on his face, "how should we explain the presence of the carcasses of the hitman and the jackals to the authorities?"
"Don’t worry about the dead bodies, I’ll deal with them shortly," replied Khaldun.
Khaldun anxiously repeated, "just leave,"
Urging Sly to return to his hospital room and stop worrying about Khaldun.
Now Khaldun’s body broke out into cold sweat and started trembling intermittently.
Sly refused to turn around and leave until he got answers.
He was even prepared to cling tightly to Khaldun’s side in a bid to reassure him.
That Sly wouldn’t abandon him no matter the situation.
Without even touching Khaldun, Sly could see that he was in a critical condition with Khaldun’s body temperature rising rapidly from an abnormal fever.
It made Khaldun’s disheveled appearance at this particular moment look abrupt as he was slowly losing the little control he had over his sanity.
Hearing the panic in Sly’s voice Khaldun finally realized that he was on the verge of a rampage.
The onset had probably started from a fight with the jackals and he had been wrong to ignore the uncontrollable heat raging throughout his body.
Such unbearable heat made Khaldun’s thought process slow down.
It was frustrating knowing that what Khaldun needed the most was right in front of him but it was hopeless if the little omega couldn’t do something simple as to just obey.
Poor Sly had never been taught what these signs led to, which was namely guiding.
S-tier alpha Khaldun Wolfe had sunk to an all time low and was in dire need of professional guiding.
The robotic voice of his spiritwatch rang out loudly, "classified s-tier rampage alert, high levels of chaotic spirit energy detected, coordinates sent out. The nearest five A-tier guides have been contacted and are on their way. The Paradise Campus Hospital and the Empire Guide Association have been notified, preparations are underway to contact more higher level guides for Royal Alpha Khaldun Wolfe. This is a critical warning to those nearby, please evacuate the area and take care of your safety."
It then repeated the same information until Khaldun broke the spiritwatch in irritation.
Upon hearing this daunting message Sly finally grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Sly was literally next to an S-tier ticking time bomb that could explode at any second.
"Are you feeling unwell, what can I do to help until the real guides reach here?" inquired Sly.
Agitated, Khaldun groaned, "just go."
His brain was feeling the stress of a thousand migraines, one hand cushioned his throbbing forehead while the other waved Sly off.
"No!" hissed Sly. "I will stay by your side until you are out of harm’s way."
Not enthused with Sly’s self absorbed decision Khaldun’s condition rapidly deteriorated.
Within the next ten seconds his condition rapidly worsened, Khaldun’s face turned a blotched red.
Khaldun’s body broke out in what looked like a bad case of hives, he was practically struggling to breathe in front of Sly.
Behind Sly and Khaldun’s back something unnatural was happening, the carcasses of the five dead jackals started crawling towards their leader.
Until it formed a rotting, hideous misshapen mass of one jackal body with six heads.
Out of the peripheral vision Khaldun saw a horrific sight from the corner of his eyes.
Khaldun was instantly startled, he didn’t have time to marvel that the hitman learned a bit of necromancy.
A forbidden art everyone thought was dead and had long since disappeared from the teachings of the current Ephedra Empire.
The grotesque jackal let out a low indigenous whine from its chest, reveling in its frightening tenacity and terrifying appearance with its sharp protruding fangs.
To practice necromancy in modern times was a crime punishable to the full extent of the law.
Sly followed Khaldun’s gaze and let out a loud gasp, eyes widened in disbelief at the incredulous situation.
Stupefied, Sly was stunned into silence seeing something so macabre his legs felt almost paralyzed, he felt unable to move.
Across from them a ten meter long malformed jackal gazed fiercely at the couple with deadly intent and free from the shackles of humanity it did not know fear only revenge.
This was neither human nor spirit beast, nothing but the embodiment of evil.
Black, soulless eyes revealed a sickening twisted expression filled with oppressive malice.
Even though it looked gross, it’s body appeared leaner as if it manipulated the best parts to become the ultimate killing machine, strong and lethal, full of explosive ghostly power.
Who wouldn’t fear something that came back from the dead with vengeance in its frame.
The zombified jackal moved sluggishly at first as if testing its strength.
It then slowly prowled towards them circling aggressively, its black pupils displaying enraged orbs filled with ferocity and malice.
The combined dead body of the jackals had a commanding ominous presence that shielded their true masters.
Like a puppet the bodies of the dead jackals were being controlled by some wicked group of sentinels or guides which probably had something to do with the tattoo Khadun noticed earlier.
The heinous loud cackles of the jackals were unnerving and didn’t give Khaldun much time to think much less come up with a quick plan of action.
More low warning growls cried out from the various jackal heads as its hind legs were slightly bent, as if it would leap towards them soon.
Thick claws of the undead stirred up dust as it pounced towards the couple aiming for Khaldun’s throat in the next second.
