Mindless Beasts

Chapter 50: Complicated

Zombified animals always attacked with claws outstretched, ready to crush its opponent under the weight of its raw mass.

Its sharp canines fully extended to do excessive damage through bone crushing bites.

Lacking in intelligence the zombie jackal would depend on relentless chasing to tired out its prey then kill them.

The last thing Sly wanted was for the dead jackal to bite him for who knows what kind of disease would be transmitted if Sly managed to make it out alive.

Even though the zombified hybrid jackal looked decayed around the edges there was no foul odor carried towards them by the wind when it finally launched its attack.

The impact when the undead monster collided with the couple felt solid enough, a sickening feel when the rotting flesh briefly brushed against Sly’s skin.

Yet it was solid enough, real enough, a sensation like touching a dead corpse that had lain frozen on ice, the warmth that made it human recently dissipated.

It was now the living dead, there was no spark of human consciousness within it. Nothing.

Thanks to the sentinel that was about to rampage shielding him, Sly lived a bit longer.

Unnerving, to say the least, Sly could suddenly hear his heartbeat pounding in his ears, and the corners of his lips split from dryness.

As Sly had to swallow any trace of saliva he could taste to calm down his own pulse.

Shit.

Sly should have obeyed Khaldun and ran away when he had the chance.

Khaldun said, "I never liked dealing with the undead."

Sly moved closer to Khaldun. "Are you afraid of zombies too?"

Briefly Khaldun’s red glowing eyes flickered to his face, then returned to the zombie jackal.

"No. I just get impatient when they take too long to die."

Khaldun smiled then, a little bit of sanity returned as if the soon to be rampage had been temporarily put on hold, just the beautiful spread of lips.

Even when fighting Khaldun looked dreamy with soft curling black hair, striking rage fueled red eyes, black button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

He looked perfect with his fighting stance, a perfectly honed warrior’s body, alluringly erotic like a wet dream come to life.

"Are you in a hurry?" Sly teased, his voice dropped lower, his warm breath caressed Khaldun’s skin.

"Yes, I am. I need to kill this bastard before the other guides get here."

Sly’s smile faltered slightly at the harshness in Khaldun’s voice.

Feelings had been hurt.

Recognizing this Khaldun sighed and pulled Sly closer lowering his face so they stared into each other’s eyes for a moment.

It was almost coy when Khaldun spoke, "You alone bear my temporary mark, Sly Foxx. I will have to receive guiding from others until you are properly trained. The more intimate the guiding, the better, it’s nothing personal."

His face looked frightfully calm, pleasant, so lovely that Sly could almost forget they were still in the midst of a heated battle with the zombie jackal.

Something needed to be said but Sly didn’t fall for the deception since his expression didn’t match what Khaldun was saying.

Khaldun groaned.

His fist made contact with the zombified monster, sending it flying through the air again as it slammed into a tree.

"Sly..."

Khaldun stopped, after checking that the creature was still out of it he turned his attention to Sly.

"Do you know what it means to be the son of a prince and a Royal Alpha?"

He went and slammed his body again into his dazed opponent while he spoke to Sly.

The zombie jackal swiped at him, its claws ripped into Khaldun’s chest.

The frayed shirt completely shredded gaped open showing a wide expanse of muscled chest.

One darkened nipple exposed, small, tanned and hard.

It was hard for Sly to focus on Khaldun’s words when he was so enraptured by his chest.

How frustrating.

Sly met Khaldun’s gaze and somehow managed not to blush.

"It means there are benefits to becoming my lifelong partner and exclusive guide."

His eyes were now glazed, almost hypnotic as if beckoning Sly to get lost in their unfamiliar depths.

"There are certain parts of me that only you can unlock but until then we will both have to put up with me receiving guiding from others."

Sly recoiled and shook his head adamantly. "No."

"Don’t get upset Sly, from today there won’t be any lies between us but we have to accept reality. You lack the skills and I would probably end up draining you through reverse guiding to satisfy my needs selfishly."

Sly pleaded, "just tell me what to do so I can properly guide you."

After a series of jump kicks into the jackals side Khaldun returned to stand beside him.

"Sly, I can feel your desire to help, I appreciate it." He wrapped Sly in his embrace and his tongue flickered against Sly’s lips. "I can taste it."

Great, now Khaldun was claiming to know him better than he knew himself.

"It’s more than me just lusting after you, my feelings are complicated where you are concerned," responded Sly.

Khaldun smiled, "I have to receive guiding from these males, but it doesn’t mean I want to pursue a relationship with all those men. As a guide you will eventually learn to separate your personal feelings from your job. You don’t make this easy."

Sly spat, "If it’s easy you wanted, then maybe you should choose someone else."

With that he flung off Khaldun’s embrace and watched him charge into battle.

Knowing that Sly would have to watch others intimately guide Khaldun pissed him off even more.

Now that was the frightening truth even Khaldun as an S-tier alpha had limits, he had already expended too much spirit energy when he dealt with the ambush.

As a rampaging sentinel he could have simply used his body as a bomb and detonated on the jackal but then Sly would get caught in the blast and Khaldun was not very optimistic either of them would make it out alive.

The zombified jackal was even more wary moving towards them in a sort of slow motion jerky fashion as if Khaldun’s last spirit energy rampage punch had scrambled some of its senses.

One of the Jackal’s heads could not withstand the forceful blow and disintegrated.

It was also the same body that Mimosa had absorbed the spirit bone essence from leaving their main body down to five jackal heads.

The rotting jackal corpse creature cackled as if going crazy with that annoying high pitched I-can’t-believe-that-happened laughter.

Then it lunged against Khaldun after another ear splitting sonic attack for the final showdown.
