Even Sly was cognizant of Khaldun’s affinity with water.
Especially with his pheromones always carrying the refreshing taste of pure water, from an underground untouched icy glacier.
It was like watching the ocean get polluted and unable to stop the spread of contaminants, knowing that Khaldun was slowly losing himself.
Everything blew out of control, as the violent vortex of polluted spirit energy grew larger, swirling and consuming the few remaining fragments of Khaldun’s mind.
(EMERGENCY WARNING: S-tier Sentinel Khaldun Wolfe. Location: Sunken Garden, Paradise Campus Hospital. Rampage Level: 84%)
Sly bravely made his way over to Khaldun’s side while somehow managing to dodge the threatening lightning strikes.
He almost got struck and felt like the white billowing hospital gown got singed from just the tail end wind of a lightning strike.
"Khaldun...Khaldun," yelled Sly. "Snap out of it! I thought your control was better than this, Khaldun Wolfe?"
Tears streamed down Sly’s face, one of Khaldun’s shaky hands reached out to brush the tears away.
"My control is Royal Alpha excellent, but it is not without limitations, you should be running away not sticking around to die beside me."
Khaldun was barely restrained, like a wild animal rattling its cage, he was barely containing the chaotic energy, pushing to be released.
Guilt speared Sly from the inside knowing that he hadn’t done much to help from the ambush up to this point and had probably been a burden to Khaldun the entire time.
"Tell me, what can I do to help?" asked Sly.
Khaldun murmured, "Just hold me."
Holding Khaldun was impossible, the most Sly could manage was resting Khaldun’s head on his lap.
Even that simple action cost Sly a great deal of effort.
Just by coming into contact with Khaldun’s body, Sly felt an excessive heat cursing through his veins.
In addition to the nausea and exhaustion that radiated from within, as if he had been trapped in a sauna for seven days and nights.
Already feeling dehydrated from earlier, Sly was now suffering from an unquenchable thirst.
If only he was stronger Sly could have dragged the alpha’s body towards the hospital but the entire time they hadn’t seen a single passerby.
His flagging spirits were dampened by the fact that he couldn’t move a single finger even if he wanted to.
In his weariness Sly kept nodding off, he could also feel the dead weight of Khaldun’s body against his, making him feel like his legs were going numb.
Sly didn’t know when, but eventually he, just like Khaldun in his exhaustion, also lost consciousness.
When he was suddenly awakened from his slumber by Mr. Howard from the Empire Guide Association.
Dizziness shook him to the core and his eyes felt stuck.
After wiping away the matter that glued his eyelashes to his eyelids, he could see again but still felt a stinging sensation within his watery eyes.
Sly felt aches all over his body and a deep rooted tiredness as if all his energy and strength had been drained by Khaldun.
His head throbbed, and the S-tier alpha’s body was no longer a crutch to lean on by his side, which made him feel abandoned, weak and feeble.
Mr. Howard noticed Sly’s bereft reaction and quickly said, "Khaldun is alive. The A-tier guides are with him right now, if it’s still not enough, B-tier and C-tier guides are also on standby. Just stay here until I can get a wheelchair."
Poor Mr. Howard, he truly thought his choice of words would bring Sly comfort but they only made Sly feel worse.
Sly became aware of his surroundings after Mr. Howard left.
It was then Sly noticed that he was actually resting on a cot in a small makeshift tent.
The only thing Sly could think about was to find Khaldun for himself and to ensure that he was alright with his own eyes.
Sly didn’t feel like the time he lost consciousness improved his mental state, on the contrary he felt much worse than before.
Due to the urgency of the situation, he had to suppress his discomfort, Sly staggered to stand upright.
He adjusted his wrinkled no longer spotless white hospital gown and slowly walked towards the entrance of the tent.
When he reached outside he saw for the first time since he entered Paradise Military Academy many unfamiliar guides in the sunken garden.
Standing patiently in line waiting for their turn to perform a guiding service to the S-tier alpha on the verge of dying from rampaging.
On what remained of the grass, makeshift medic stations had been set up on either side of what Sly assumed was Khaldun’s tent.
To offer privacy while Khaldun received guiding and to preserve the dignity of a Royal Alpha.
At that moment a few A-tier guides staggered out of Khaldun’s tent looking drained and disheveled.
Some A-tier guides were even being wheeled out on stretchers to be put in an ambulance to head straight to the emergency room.
Medics rushed over to assist those that could barely walk by themselves to the cots and provide emergency trauma care and patient stabilization.
As Sly Foxx stood gazing at the entrance to Khaldun’s tent, a medaled and decorated medic, who seemed to be in charge of the entire operation approached Sly Foxx.
"It’s my first time seeing you around. Are you a medic or a guide?" asked the senior ranked medical officer.
Nervously Sly answered, "I’m a guide."
The Senior Medic pulled a device from his pocket and put it next to Sly’s spiritchoker.
It made a few beeping sounds then displayed Sly’s profile on the screen.
He tapped it a few more times while perusing the detailed information then nodded satisfactorily.
"It seems that you’re a newly classified B-tier guide. Is that the case?"
Sly answered politely, "Yes Sir, that’s correct."
"That’s wonderful," exclaimed the Senior Medic. "I’m amazed to see a B-tier guide looking eager to enter a S-tier Royal Alpha’s tent! Most would be hiding out if it didn’t mean punishment or jail time for absconding in the line of duty. Follow me, I’ll take you to where the other B-tier guides are gathered."
He didn’t wait for a response and practically, half-pulled half dragged Sly along while demanding, "come on newbie, move quickly."
