My All Powerful System
Chapter 112: Conversations with the Academy Queen IThe grand office remained wrapped in a comfortable yet charged silence.
Eleanor Haleborn leaned slightly back in her luxurious leather chair, her clear purple eyes watching Lynx Azarion with a blend of genuine curiosity and subtle amusement.
Across the dark oak desk, Lynx sat completely at ease. He did not posture like a trembling lower year student seeking favor, nor did he puff out his chest like the arrogant brats who usually tried to impress her.
Instead, he possessed an effortless, magnetic calm. With that grin on his face as he just heard her confirming one rumor that tends to do with his looks.
Lynx put a bit more fraction in his tiny aura that was already filling the room. It carried no pressure, no destructive intent, and no violent weight. It simply hung in the air like a subtle, shimmering fragrance, enhancing his already Transcendental charm.
His silver Blessed mark faintly gleamed on his forehead, catching the light from the massive glass windows behind the Academy Queen.
"So," Eleanor spoke, breaking the stillness with her smooth, melodic voice. "You seem remarkably comfortable sitting in front of me, Lynx. Most students, even my fellow Year-mates, tend to watch their words very carefully in this room."
Lynx tilted his head, resting his elbow casually on the armrest of his chair. He has 6 Affinities, has strong titles, has devastating Blessings. The Academy know only of his 5 Affinities, and he had already seen her stats which were very impressive but wouldn’t pose a threat to him. Why would he not be comfortable.
"Should I be shaking?" Lynx asked, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "I was brought here to have a conversation, not to face an execution squad. Besides, it would be a shame to ruin such a nice room with unnecessary tension."
Behind him, Nadia let out a tiny, barely audible breath through her nose, her hazel eyes remaining fixed on the back of his head.
Layla, Iris, and Rhea stood in flawless formation, though their physical posture had relaxed by a fraction of a degree.
Eleanor let out a soft, melodious laugh, her long purple hair swaying gently over her golden trimmed uniform.
"Fair point," Eleanor admitted, her purple eyes sparkling. "Though your reputation precedes you. You aren’t exactly known for keeping things peaceful, and you’ve been here for a really short time."
"Reputation is just what people say when they don’t know the full story," Lynx replied smoothly.
Eleanor tilted her head, her gaze sweeping over his attire.
"Speaking of unique choices... why is your uniform black?" Eleanor asked, gesturing toward his tailored dark clothing.
"The standard Aether Blessed Academy code requires deep blue for all Students. Yet you walk around dressed like a shadow."
"I just love darkness," Lynx answered without a single second of hesitation, his heterochromatic eyes glinting with playful mischief. "In a good way, of course."
Behind him, Layla Solara raised a single crimson eyebrow. Her amber eyes narrowed slightly as she spoke up, her fiery voice cutting through the room with a sharp, commanding tone.
"Is there really a ’good way’ to love darkness, Freshman?" Layla asked, her arms crossed over her impressive, tight bust.
Lynx turned his head slowly over his shoulder. His blue and silver eyes locked onto Layla’s fierce face, taking in her sweeping crimson hair and the aggressive beauty she radiated.
Without breaking stride, Lynx winked directly at her.
"Why don’t you come over to my VIP room in the Year 3 building tonight and find out, Layla?" Lynx purred, his voice smooth as silk.
Layla’s breath caught for a split microsecond. She certainly hadn’t expected him to flirt directly with her in the middle of the Queen’s executive office.
A subtle flush of heat tried to creep up her neck, but she forced her fiery expression into a cool, sharp glare, though her lips twitched slightly before she turned her head away.
Beside her, Iris bit down on her inner cheek to suppress a small smile, while Rhea’s icy eyes glinted with quiet entertainment.
Eleanor observed the quick interaction with a growing sense of amusement. It was rare for anyone to throw Layla off balance so casually.
"You’re quite bold, Lynx," Eleanor said, drawing his attention back to the desk. "Tell me something directly. Do you actually think you could take my friends in a fight? Or even me?"
Lynx turned back to face the Academy Queen, pulling his gaze away from Layla. He leaned back in his chair, shrugging his broad shoulders with complete, nonchalant grace.
"I don’t mean to sound rude," Lynx began, his tone polite, light, and utterly devastating in its confidence. "But to be completely honest with you... I haven’t seen a single person in this academy yet who could beat me. Student or professor."
Nadia scoffed loudly from the back, her dark brown waves bouncing as she shook her head in sheer disbelief.
"Listen to this guy," Nadia muttered under her breath.
Eleanor, however, did not take offense. A radiant, genuine smile broke across her flawless face, illuminating her violet features.
"Bold," Eleanor remarked softly. "Very bold. But I can’t say I dislike confidence. Especially when it comes from someone who made the strong Professor Jace bleed and kneel in front of an entire arena."
"It’s not arrogance if it’s just a fact," Lynx replied with another lazy shrug, his smile warm and utterly engaging.
"Is that so?" Eleanor rested her elbows on the desk, folding her hands beneath her chin. "Then explain another rumor to me. Did you really fight Jace without using a single stat-boosting or mana-amplifying artifact?"
"Not a single one," Lynx said, his voice dropping into an easy, conversational rhythm.
"Think about it logically. If I were using forbidden or hidden artifacts, the academy’s automated sensory runes and the veteran professors monitoring the match would have been the very first to call me out. They checked the arena records thoroughly. I don’t need toys to win."
Eleanor listened carefully, nodding her head slowly in agreement.
"That is a very solid point," Eleanor admitted. "The sensory arrays in the combat arenas are notoriously strict. If you had cheated, the disciplinary board would have suspended you long ago."
She paused, her purple eyes flashing with a touch of sharp intrigue.
"Then what about the Year 3 building incident?" Eleanor asked, her lips curving into a subtle smirk. "The report said you nearly broke a Year 3... your senior’s neck in the Year 3 boys dormitory."
Lynx raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised.
"How do you even know about that?" Lynx asked, leaning forward slightly. "There were only a handful of guys in the corridor when that happened."
Eleanor tapped her delicate temple with a single gloved finger.
"I am the Queen of this academy, Lynx. I have my sources everywhere," Eleanor replied smoothly, a hint of playful pride in her eyes. "Even in Boys Buildings regardless of the Years."
Lynx let out a low, appreciative hum, his eyes drinking in her sharp mind and breathtaking looks.
"I have to admit... authority looks incredibly attractive on you," Lynx said seamlessly, causing Eleanor’s purple eyes to widen just a fraction before he continued.
"As for that guy... I was just looking for the VIP room I took ’politely’ from a Year 3 guy name Caius. I also politely asked the guys there for directions to room fifteen. But because I’m a Year 2 student, they guys there thought they could play the big senior bully."
Lynx gestured animatedly with his hands, exaggerating the scene with a dramatic, humorous flair.
"They started barking at me, telling me I lost my way, telling me to turn around and scram. And the guy I grabbed? He had the absolute loudest mouth out of all of them. So, naturally, I helped him test his neck strength. I barely even squeezed, and his eyes were already rolling into the back of his head like a dying fish!"
Eleanor couldn’t hold back her amusement any longer. A clear, musical laugh escaped her lips, echoing beautifully through the room.
Behind Lynx, Iris let out a muffled giggle that she quickly tried to cough away, while even Nadia turned her face slightly, releasing a short, reluctant scoff at his dramatic story.
"You really are something else," Eleanor said, wiping a tiny speck of moisture from the corner of her eye as her laughter settled. "So you essentially terrorized the Year 3 floor because someone gave you bad directions?"
"I gave them a valuable lesson in polite hospitality," Lynx corrected with a wide, charming grin.
He leaned back, shifting the topic smoothly.
"What about you, though? How do you cope with running a massive academy like this? Between managing rankings, dealing with strict professors, and overseeing these many lazy Blessed students, it sounds like a massive headache."
Eleanor leaned back against the plush velvet cushion of her chair, her expression softening into a relaxed, comfortable warmth.
"It can be demanding," Eleanor shared honestly. "But I don’t do it alone. I have my four best friends right beside me every step of the way. We keep the academy in order together."
Lynx glanced back at the four enforcers, giving them a respectful nod before turning his attention back to Eleanor. A playful spark danced in his heterochromatic eyes.
"That’s good to hear," Lynx said casually. Then, leaning forward with an entirely straight face, he dropped his next question.
"So... tell me, your Majesty. Are you and the King of the academy currently dating? Or do I actually have a shot with you?"
Pfft!
Rhea Dawnwhisper instantly broke her stoic composure, a short, stunned burst of laughter escaping her lips before she quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
Iris’s eyes went wide, and Layla simply shook her head in absolute disbelief at the audacity of the question.
’What the hell.’ Nadia shook her head.
