Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Succeeded!
Vesper Grayson nodded and went straight upstairs.
Inside the room, Mr. Kensington and Mrs. Kensington were keeping watch by Miss Kensington’s side. Mr. Kensington’s eyes were bloodshot as he tightly gripped the old woman’s hand, calling out softly again and again, "Mom... Mom..."
But Miss Kensington was completely unresponsive, having already fallen into a deep coma.
Compared to the fleeting healthy color she had last night, her face was now a frightening ashen gray. Her breathing was faint, her limbs ice-cold. The heart monitor beside the bed emitted a sharp, dragging drone. The green waveform pulsed slower and flatter, the heart rate plummeting until it was nearly a flat line. The situation was more critical than ever before.
Vesper Grayson walked quickly to the bedside. The moment her fingertips touched Miss Kensington’s wrist, her expression darkened.
"Could everyone please step outside?" she said in a low voice.
Mr. and Mrs. Kensington exchanged a look and were about to speak, but Sebastian Kensington had already stepped forward and gently escorted them out. The others followed, leaving the room one by one.
"President Kensington, Miss Kensington’s life is fading. Her body can’t take any more strain... You should use the limited time you have left to say your goodbyes," the attending physician said grimly, his tone a mix of helplessness and finality.
Sebastian Kensington’s expression turned icy in an instant. His tone was hard. "I paid a fortune to hire you, not to hear you pronounce a death sentence. Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean no one can. Take your team and wait outside."
After everyone had left, Jared Hawthorne asked in a low voice, "Vesper, do you need me to assist you?"
"No, I can handle it."
’If anything goes wrong, I’ll take the blame alone. I don’t want to drag him into this.’
"I’ll be right outside the door. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
The door clicked shut, blocking out all sights and sounds.
Vesper Grayson gently pried open the old woman’s mouth. She took a white porcelain vial from her bag, tipped out two pills, and carefully helped her swallow them.
Then, she gently unfastened the collar of her nightgown, took the Nine Dragon Needle set from the sandalwood box, and, holding a needle steadily between her fingertips, swiftly began the treatment.
She had thought her technique would be rusty after so many years without practicing, but the moment her fingers touched the silver needles, it was as if she had awakened a muscle memory buried deep inside her.
Steady, precise, light, and practiced. Her movements were as smooth as flowing water, without a hint of hesitation.
Out in the hallway.
Mr. Kensington couldn’t help but ask anxiously, "Sebastian, what is going on? That Miss Grayson is so young, her skills can’t be that good. What if something happens to your grandmother..."
Before he could finish, Sebastian Kensington cut him off sternly. "Dad, in her current condition, Kensington doesn’t have much time. The fact that Miss Grayson could see through Julian Churchill at a glance proves she has real ability. Do you have a better idea?"
He had hired a top-tier international medical team and used the most advanced equipment and drugs, but they were all powerless to save her now.
Even if she can’t be completely cured, as long as she can be woken up, there’s still a glimmer of hope.
Mrs. Kensington quickly tried to smooth things over. "Sebastian, your father is just worried about your grandmother. So many famous doctors were helpless. Miss Grayson is so young, I’m afraid... this might just be a futile effort."
Mr. Kensington turned to the silent Jared Hawthorne, his voice edged with urgency.
"Elias, which famous medical school did your girlfriend graduate from?"
Mrs. Kensington and Sebastian Kensington looked over at the same time.
Jared Hawthorne calmly lifted his gaze, his voice perfectly even. "She studied financial management, not medicine."
Mr. Kensington panicked instantly, his voice rising. "How can she treat someone if she never studied medicine? This is absurd! Sebastian, get her out of there now! Don’t let your grandmother suffer anymore!"
"Mr. Kensington." Jared Hawthorne stepped forward, blocking his path. His expression was indifferent, but his words were crystal clear. "If you doubt someone, don’t use them. If you use them, don’t doubt them. To put it bluntly, Kensington has less than half an hour left. Lying there is just waiting to die."
He looked at Sebastian Kensington. "Give her a chance, and she might just give you a miracle."
Sebastian Kensington’s lips were set in a tight line. He spoke in a low voice, "Mom, Dad, Elias is right. Kensington is already... Can it get any worse? Let Miss Grayson try. I trust her. Even if you don’t trust her, you should trust Elias."
’Who would stay up in the middle of the night to meddle in another family’s affairs?’
’It’s already a rare kindness that Jared Hawthorne and Vesper Grayson are even here to help.’
Inside, Vesper Grayson was completely unaware of the argument outside. She was fully focused on applying the needles, her eyes fixed on the old woman, not daring to let her concentration waver for a second.
In truth, she was stretched to her absolute limit. Other than her grandmaster, she had never used these needles on another person. The tension had already caused a fine sheen of sweat to break out on her smooth forehead.
As the last needle was steadily put in place, Miss Kensington’s breathing began to even out. Her chest rose and fell in a faint but clear rhythm, a hint of color slowly returned to her ashen face, and her ice-cold limbs gradually warmed.
Vesper Grayson held her breath, her focus absolute.
The next second, the old woman’s closed eyelids trembled. A sudden convulsion went through her throat, and she coughed up a small mouthful of dark, clotted blood from her heart.
Once the stagnant blood blocking her heart meridian was expelled, her obstructed qi and blood began to flow freely again.
Vesper Grayson let out a huge sigh of relief. The heavy weight on her heart finally lifted.
’I did it!!’
She took a clean handkerchief and gently wiped the blood from the corner of the old woman’s mouth, her voice soft.
"Miss Kensington, how are you feeling?"
Miss Kensington slowly blinked, her gaze gradually coming into focus. Her voice was weak but clear.
"I feel much better... The tightness in my chest seems to be gone..."
Vesper Grayson nodded slightly. With movements that were both gentle and efficient, she removed the silver needles one by one, wiped them clean, and returned them to the sandalwood box.
After confirming that the old woman’s breathing was steady and her pulse was calm, she finally turned, walked to the door, and gently opened it.
The moment the door opened, all eyes in the hallway snapped toward her.
"Miss Kensington is awake."
Mr. Kensington, Mrs. Kensington, and Sebastian Kensington stared at each other in disbelief. When the news sank in, they rushed into the room to check on the old woman’s condition.
Confirming that Miss Kensington was truly awake, all three wore expressions of utter disbelief, too shocked to recover for a long moment.
"Mom! You’re awake! You scared me to death!"
"Mother-in-law, how are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
Sebastian Kensington suppressed the turmoil in his heart and immediately had the medical team called back in to run a full examination on his grandmother.
After a thorough examination, the expressions of the several expert physicians changed drastically. They repeatedly checked the data on their instruments, their eyes filled with incredulous shock.
Miss Kensington’s pulse, once so faint it was barely perceptible, was now steady and strong. The nearly flat line on the heart monitor had returned to a regular rhythm, her heart rate was climbing steadily, and all her vital signs were returning to normal one by one.
Even her heart meridian, which had been blocked for years and which the top medical team had been powerless to clear, was now completely unobstructed. Her qi and blood were flowing smoothly, and her vitality was restored.
"Incredible... This is absolutely incredible! Miss Kensington’s heart meridian was blocked for years. We used the most advanced drugs and surgical procedures and couldn’t clear it, but now it’s completely open! Her qi and blood are circulating smoothly, and all her vital signs are returning to normal at an astonishing rate!"
The look he gave Vesper Grayson had transformed from initial disdain to utter shock and awe.
"Miss, may I ask... how did you do it?"
