My Clones Can Cultivate

Chapter 179: Giving It Everything

Chapter 179

Meanwhile, back at the Ray Arena, the entire arena sucked in a cold breath as they looked at the battle below with barely concealed shock, seeing that Liyu’s head had been smashed down so hard into the battle stage that it had gone straight into the marble.

The sight alone was brutal, and it was clear that he would surely be more injured after an attack like that. And that wasn’t even all, because if it were another person whose head had been grabbed and smashed downward with enough force to shake the very battle stage itself, then it was bound to be a disaster, meaning having a cracked skull from something like that was almost mandatory.

Yet, of course, none of the people present actually believed that would be enough to take Liyu out, since that guy had been more than just a freak, after all, having done things that would make freaks look normal in comparison.

So although the match seemed to have switched in Haoran’s favor once more, none of the people present felt as though Liyu was going to lose just like that... at least not from that single attack alone.

And well... they were right, as Liyu pushed his head away from the marble, and the moment he freed himself, he instantly created distance between himself and Haoran.

Interestingly, after smashing Liyu’s head into the stage, Haoran didn’t seem interested in capitalizing on his advantage and overwhelming him further, but simply stood there... calm, unmoving, as though the brutal attack he had just delivered wasn’t even worth mentioning.

Liyu landed on the ground and immediately wiped the blood from his forehead and mouth, knowing that no matter how tough he was, he had suffered more than just a bruise from that.

His head was aching badly, the pain throbbing through his skull with every heartbeat, causing Liyu to grimace slightly as he thought, That dude has sure become even more freakishly powerful now.

His gaze remained fixed on Haoran, who slowly raised a hand before pointing directly at Liyu, his tone calm yet carrying immense power behind it as he said, "Give up."

Liyu’s eyebrow twitched. He slowly straightened himself, then stubbornly shook his head. "Nah. I gotta decline that offer." A small grin appeared on his face. "I made a promise, you know." His expression became firm. "No matter what, I am winning this tournament."

Liyu said it with such a straight and confident tone that it sounded as though his victory was already a foregone conclusion, as if the only thing left to do was simply reach the end.

Haoran’s white eyes stared at him for a long while, then he slowly shook his head, a simple movement that still seemed to radiate immense power.

A strange chill spread through the battlefield, causing Liyu... who hadn’t even engaged with him again yet... to still feel threatened, as though even the smallest movement from Haoran carried a terrifying weight behind it.

Haoran looked back at him with a calm gaze, then spoke once more: "You are foolish."

Liyu’s mouth twitched. He forced a small smile. "I can say the same for you."

His slit eyes sharpened, his body bent slightly, his muscles tensed, and he prepared to launch another attack. And in the eyes of everyone watching, that was far from being wise, after all, he had attacked Haoran before, and the result of that attack had been him getting smashed headfirst into the marble stage when his claws hadn’t even been able to leave a scratch on Haoran.

Now he wanted to attack again despite the fact that his previous attack had seemingly had absolutely no effect on the current Haoran? The spectators couldn’t help but feel that Haoran calling Liyu a fool was completely justified, because from their perspective... Liyu was embarking on a fool’s errand.

Yet Liyu didn’t care, bending lower with his fangs glinting dangerously beneath the light as he said, "If one of his skills isn’t enough to leave a scratch on you..." His gaze became sharper. "Then I’ll just use all of them."

The moment those words left his mouth...

Ding! A familiar mechanical notification rang inside Liyu’s mind.

[Skill: Eagle Eyes has been activated.]

Ding! [Skill: Origin Eyes has been activated.]

[Linear Blink has been activated.]

Ding! [Skill: Camouflage has been activated.]

Liyu’s eyes began changing, with one of his eyes transforming into the sharp eye of an eagle so that its vision became unnaturally keen as every detail within his surroundings seemed to sharpen.

His other eye remained normal... or at least, it remained normal for exactly a microsecond before it changed, the black color of his iris slowly vanishing while white spread across it, or rather, not pure white, but rings of pure white appearing within his irises to create a strange and otherworldly pattern.

The transformation was subtle, but the moment those eyes opened fully, the aura surrounding Liyu seemed to change, his gaze becoming sharper, more focused, and more dangerous.

At the same time, one final notification rang out clearly within Liyu’s mind:

Ding! [Perfect Efficiency has been activated.]

Liyu’s lips slowly curled upward, knowing that this time... he wasn’t going to rely on a single skill, but was going to combine everything.

Liyu’s body vanished, and then what followed was a series of loud explosions:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The sounds echoed endlessly around Guan Haoran’s body, and the big guy frowned slightly, feeling the attacks.

But even though Liyu was attacking him relentlessly, they were still nothing more than empty scratches, and what Haoran couldn’t understand was how fast Liyu was moving... he couldn’t see him, not clearly, at least, as Liyu’s speed had reached a level where even his eyes were having difficulty tracking his movements. Guan Haoran suddenly punched outward:

BOOM!

The very air seemed to break under the force of the punch, yet it didn’t hit Liyu, because Liyu had already changed his trajectory before the attack could reach him.

Then... BANG! BANG! BANG! The attacks continued endlessly, unceasingly, the sound of Liyu’s attacks echoing throughout the arena as his claws repeatedly struck Guan Haoran’s body from different directions.

Yet there was no change in Haoran’s expression, and if anything... Liyu’s attacks didn’t seem to be causing him any pain or even seeming like he was feeling them.

Everyone watching had a strange expression on their faces as they stared at the scene, for there was no doubt about it that Liyu was giving it his all in this round, with the endless, unceasing BANG! BANG! BANG! being proof of that.

But that was exactly what made the scene even stranger, because Guan Haoran simply stood there calmly, taking every single attack head-on without showing the slightest change in expression, his body remaining completely still and his face remaining expressionless.

If anything, he only seemed slightly irritated, like a grown man being bothered by a mosquito that refused to leave him alone... that was exactly how the scene could be interpreted, as nothing else seemed to fit.

Liyu’s fans couldn’t help but feel their hope slowly dwindle as they watched, the scene reminding them of how the battle had been at the very beginning when Guan Haoran had also stood with his arms crossed over his chest, allowing Liyu’s attacks to land on him without showing the slightest interest.

And now... he was doing the exact same thing again, except this time, it seemed even more nonchalant than before, his gaze remaining emotionless as he searched for Liyu’s location.

Liyu was moving extremely fast... fast enough that ordinary eyes couldn’t hope to follow him, but apparently... it still wasn’t enough to escape Haoran’s vision.

What Liyu was doing could be described as a top-tier hit-and-run tactic, using his Origin Eyes and Eagle Eyes together to study and track Guan Haoran’s movements. And there wasn’t much to track, because the guy hadn’t even moved from the position he had been standing in before.

Liyu was simultaneously using Linear Blink to constantly change his trajectory, making his movements difficult to predict, while Camouflage covered his traces and made it even harder for Haoran to locate him.

Since he was using Camouflage while fighting, however, it wasn’t able to completely mask his presence to its full extent, but it was enough... enough for him to continuously launch attacks from different angles, enough for him to keep attacking, enough for him to keep trying.

Except... wait. Who was he kidding? There was no damage, not even the slightest meaningful damage, and the guy didn’t even seem to feel anything from Liyu’s endless attacks, making it depressing, to say the least.

Yet Liyu continued pushing forward because simply put... he had no other card to play, being already at his wit’s end and having activated practically everything he could while his remaining Qi was rapidly dwindling, his body was already carrying injuries, and his opponent had somehow become even more terrifying.

So there was only one thing he could do: keep attacking, keep moving, keep searching for an opening, and hope that Haoran’s current state would eventually run out. It has to have a limit, Liyu clenched his teeth as he continued attacking. It has to.

As he moved once again, Liyu suddenly saw Guan Haoran close his eyes. His movements didn’t stop; he didn’t know why Haoran had closed his eyes, but he couldn’t give a fuck about that right now, so he continued his endless assault:

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Still nothing. No reaction. No pain. No damage.

After a while, however... Guan Haoran slowly opened his eyes. And then... his hand moved, happening at lightning-fast speed as his fist shot sideways toward the exact direction Liyu was approaching from.

Liyu’s Eagle Eyes were too slow to catch the movement, but his Origin Eyes weren’t... he saw it, saw the fist coming, and knew exactly where it was going.

But seeing it didn’t mean he could evade it, because there was no time, and Linear Blink couldn’t save him either since the skill had a two-second pause after every use and he had already used it.

There was nothing he could do, so Liyu did the only thing left to him: he channeled a huge chunk of his dwindling Qi into his arms, his muscles tensed, his claws withdrew slightly, and he crossed both arms directly across his chest.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Then—

"Behemoth Punch."

Liyu’s eyes widened in pure shock. Behemoth what? He didn’t even have time to properly register his own shock before the punch arrived.

BOOOOOOM!

Guan Haoran’s fist smashed directly into Liyu’s guard, the impact monstrous as Liyu’s hands twisted violently upon contact and his entire body folded in two.

PUFF!

Blood erupted from his mouth in a large torrent, and his body was sent flying through the air, crossing the distance between himself and the arena’s barrier in an instant before... BOOOOM! His body crashed hard into the barrier with full force, the entire barrier trembling from the impact while Liyu’s body slowly slid down from it.

Blood dripped from his mouth, blood ran down his body, and finally... his figure came to a stop as a small pool of blood slowly formed beneath him. The arena fell deathly silent.

Haoran slowly opened his eyes, his gaze falling upon Liyu’s limp, bloodied body. There was little to no emotion in his blinding white eyes, because in the State of Overflow, his emotions were greatly suppressed, since right now, he was acting as a vessel for the World Qi itself.

His body, his Qi, even his senses had become deeply connected to the surrounding World Qi, meaning something as ordinary as emotion had therefore been greatly suppressed, leaving behind little more than irritation... irritation that Liyu had genuinely believed that a cheap trick like Camouflaging himself would be enough to hide from him.

Haoran shook his head internally. That is foolish. He hadn’t needed to rely on his eyes to find Liyu, because the moment Liyu entered his range, Haoran simply focused his senses through the World Qi surrounding them.

The World Qi was everywhere... it filled the arena, it filled the air, it surrounded Liyu... and through that connection, hiding from Haoran was practically impossible. That was how he had detected Liyu’s position, and that was how he had ended the battle with a single Behemoth Punch.

Haoran looked at Liyu’s limp body again, noting a faint trace of subdued respect in his eyes as he thought that to think he still had a trump card like that in his arsenal.

He had to admit that he hadn’t expected it, and if he hadn’t stepped into the State of Overflow, he surely wouldn’t have been able to withstand that combination of abilities. Liyu’s speed had been terrifying, and his ability to constantly alter his trajectory, conceal his presence, and attack from unpredictable angles had been troublesome even for him.

But it didn’t matter anymore, and Guan Haoran was certain of that, not believing anyone below the Core Stage could dare to face him while he was in this state.

In fact, he had already tested the State of Overflow against several elders of the Guan Clan who were at the Foundation Realm, and the result of those spars had always been the same: when Haoran wasn’t in the State of Overflow... he would get his ass kicked, but the moment he entered the state... the ones getting their asses kicked were the elders themselves, to the point where even those powerful Foundation Realm cultivators struggled to face him.

And that wasn’t even the most terrifying part, because some of those elders were at the peak of the Foundation Realm, yet even they had been unable to properly contend with him while he was in the State of Overflow, showing just how insanely powerful this legendary state truly was, leaving simply no way for Liyu to win this.

Haoran waited patiently for the referee to announce the result, after all, it seemed that Liyu had finally passed out. The referee, however, didn’t immediately step onto the stage, instead hesitating because he wasn’t entirely sure that the battle had truly ended like this.

Surely... Liyu couldn’t have fallen just like that. Of course, by all logical accounts, he probably should have, as anyone else who had suffered that sequence of attacks would have already been unconscious, if not seriously crippled.

But Liyu didn’t seem to follow logic, and much had become more than clear to everyone watching this battle. The referee’s rational mind was telling him that the kid had lost, but for some strange reason... he wanted to believe that the kid wouldn’t lose here, wanting to see Liyu stand back up again.

The referee shook his head slightly. What am I even thinking? He didn’t know when it had happened, nor when he had started rooting for the kid, but somehow... he had.

A few seconds passed, and the referee’s expression slowly became disappointed as he finally prepared to step onto the stage and announce the result. Then... Liyu twitched.

The referee froze, his eyes widened slightly, and Liyu’s fingers moved, followed by his arm. Slowly... very slowly... his body began to rise from the ground. Blood still dripped from the side of his head, his hands were mangled, and his body was battered. Yet his gaze... didn’t waver, and if anything, there was no pain in those slit eyes, but instead... excitement and thrill.

The referee stared at him, then a small smile appeared on his face as he shook his head, thinking, Just as I expected. The kid was far from done, leaving the referee to feel genuinely curious as he wondered just what the hell does this kid still have left to show?

He really had no idea, as it seemed as though Liyu had already given everything he had, having pushed himself beyond his limits again and again, yet still failing to bring Haoran down.

So what else could he possibly have left? What else did he still have to give? If there was anything left to give at all... they could only watch and find out. The referee was still counting on him, so instead of stepping in, he backed away and continued watching the kid closely.

Liyu slowly looked down at his mangled arms, seeing his hands twisted badly from blocking Haoran’s Behemoth Punch. For an ordinary person, simply looking at the condition of those hands would have been enough to make their stomach churn, but Liyu merely stared at them before opening his mouth and sinking his fangs directly into his right hand.

CRUNCH! He bit down. Then... SNAP! He forcibly pulled his hand back into position.

A wave of pure, searing pain instantly shot through his nerves... the terrifying kind of pain that could make a grown man scream in pure agony. Yet Liyu’s expression didn’t change, not even slightly, and his eyes remained calm. He used his newly straightened hand to grab his other mangled hand, then forced it back into position as well.

CRACK! Another wave of scorching pain exploded through his nerves, his muscles trembled, his body shook, and yet... he didn’t cry, nor did he scream. Instead, his lips slowly curled upward, a grin appearing on his face.

But this wasn’t a normal grinno, this was his signature lunatic grin, his slit eyes gleamed with excitement, and he said with a smile:

"This is fun."
