My Cuckhold System

Chapter 323: I Come In Peace

Liz stared at him for several quiet seconds before laughing softly. "...Thank you."

"You don’t know how much I needed to hear that."

She looked toward the floor. "I’ve lost several major contracts over the past few months."

"Some clients made it clear they expected... sex."

"I refused."

"It’s been difficult."

West nodded quietly. "I know its hard but you made the right decision."

She smiled. "I hope so."

She reached for the doorknob and paused one final time. "If my life had been different... If I didn’t have a fiancée."

She smiled warmly. "...I think someone like you would’ve been very hard not to fall for."

West simply smiled back. "I’ll take that as a compliment."

"You should," she gave a small wave before leaving.

West watched the closed door for a few moments before leaning back in his chair.

A thoughtful smile crossed his face. "Seed planted..."

...

Beyond the Shadow Reapers headquarters...

Nearly a hundred feet above the surrounding streets...

A solitary feminine figure stood atop a neighboring rooftop.

The night breeze gently stirred her long hair.

From her vantage point, the brightly lit Shadow Reapers compound was clearly visible.

She quietly observed the celebration below with a faint smile on her face. "So..."

"...you’ve really grown since the last time I saw you."

The mysterious woman remained standing there, silently watching the headquarters below as the city lights glittered beneath the night sky.

...

...

Meanwhile, within the Shadow Reapers headquarters, the celebration gradually came to an end.

Hours earlier, the Shadow Reapers headquarters had been overflowing with laughter, music and influential guests from all across Misty High City.

Now... the grand hall looked like the aftermath of a festival.

Half-finished drinks rested atop tables, colorful decorations still hung from the ceiling and several chairs had been moved out of place after enthusiastic conversations and games.

Only the soft instrumental music that still drifted through the speakers remained to remind anyone that the place had, only a short while ago, been bursting with life.

The outsiders had all gone home.

The visiting gang leaders, businessmen, sponsors, representatives... pretty much all outsiders, had already left.

Only Shadow Reapers members remained.

Some of the recruits who had been drinking far beyond their limits had already begun stumbling toward the residential lodges inside the headquarters compound.

Others weren’t nearly as successful.

"...I’m telling you..." a new recruit pointed dramatically toward a decorative statue. "...that guy blinked."

Another recruit stared at the statue for several seconds. "...I think you’re right."

Jax walked over and smacked both of them lightly on the back of their heads.

"The statue didn’t blink."

"It doesn’t even have eyelids."

The first recruit frowned. "...Then explain why it’s judging me."

Jax sighed. "They’re completely gone."

Nearby... another member had somehow managed to fall asleep standing against a wall.

West couldn’t help laughing. "Jax."

"Hmm?"

"I’m promoting you."

Jax’s eyes lit up. "Really?"

"...To drunk babysitter."

His smile immediately disappeared. "Boss..."

"...that’s not a promotion."

"It is tonight," West patted him on the shoulder.

"Get everyone to their rooms."

Jax looked around, noticing over a dozen thoroughly intoxicated members.

"...I suddenly regret joining this gang."

West laughed. "You’ll survive."

Among the group sat Nina but unlike the others, she wasn’t causing trouble.

She simply sat on one of the sofas with her arms folded and her cheeks slightly flushed from the alcohol.

Her words were beginning to slur. "I’m..."

"...perfectly fine."

She then immediately leaned sideways.

Jax caught her before she slid onto the floor. "...Sure you are."

West smiled. "She isn’t going home tonight."

Jax nodded. "I figured."

West looked toward one of the female recruits. "Get one of the guest rooms ready."

"We’re not risking her wandering home in this state."

The recruit nodded. "Leave it to me."

One by one, the headquarters slowly quieted.

The music volume lowered... more lights were switched off and within another half hour, only a handful of members remained cleaning.

Satisfied that everything was under control, West finally stretched. "What a day..."

He quietly walked toward his office.

The corridors had grown noticeably darker now that most of the decorative lighting had been turned off.

Only the emergency lights remained, casting long shadows throughout the headquarters.

As West rounded a corner leading toward the lounge outside his office, he suddenly stopped... someone was here.

A feminine silhouette sat comfortably upon one of the sofas near the back of the room.

Most of the lights had already been turned off so she almost looked as though she had materialized directly from the darkness itself.

She smiled. "...Long time no see."

West’s eyes narrowed.

His vision had long surpassed that of ordinary awakeners so even within the dim lighting... he could clearly make out her features.

His relaxed expression disappeared immediately. "...You."

His voice became noticeably colder. "What are you doing here?"

The feminine figure slowly rose from the sofa with a confident smile that never faded. "I needed to see my man."

She began walking toward him with slow steps. "You’ve grown so much in seven months."

West didn’t move from his standpoint. "That’s close enough."

She ignored the warning and took another step.

West hand suddenly shot forward.

He seized her by the throat before shoving her backward several feet.

She slid across the smooth floors before effortlessly regaining her balance.

He spoke with a cold tone. "This isn’t going to be like the last time."

"The days of pinning me against a wall are over."

"Try anything..."

"...and I’ll rip your head off."

The feminine silhouette laughed almost affectionately. "You’ve gotten hotter too."

She raised both hands peacefully. "I come in peace."

Her crimson eyes slowly wandered across him.

"As much as I’d love to have you..." she smiled almost obsessively. "...body, mind and soul..."

"...I’m here for a different reason this time."

West remained guarded. "I’m listening."

"I came with a proposition."

West folded his arms. "Hm."

"Why would the mafia have a proposition for me?"

"I haven’t climbed high enough to end up on your radar yet."

She laughed softly. "Oh..."

"Don’t flatter yourself."

"It’s not the mafia."

She tapped her own chest. "It’s me."
