My Cuckhold System

Chapter 328: I Can’t Awaken Random People

West pointed toward the projection. "So that’s everything I’ve managed to gather."

Jax whistled. "A castle the size of a city?"

"That’s insane."

Nina nodded. "And every first-year awakener is going to rush in there."

West folded his arms. "Exactly."

"Which means competition will be fierce."

Aria stepped forward. "I also prepared something."

She handed West another document. "Our current first-year awakened members."

West’s eyebrows rose as he looked through it. "...That’s it?"

Aria nodded. "I’m afraid so."

"Besides you..."

"There’s Jax."

"Nina."

"And..."

She pointed further down.

"Leo."

"Morgan."

West counted again. "Four."

Jax scratched his head. "...West."

"That isn’t enough."

West looked up. "We’ll need at least fifteen if we’re going to maximize our chances."

Nina nodded in agreement. "And that’s assuming everyone survives."

Silence filled the room.

West slowly began pacing from one end of the room to the other.

His footsteps echoed quietly as they all waited, simply watching him think.

Several long moments passed before West stopped.

A slow smile spread across his face. "I’ve been looking at this the wrong way."

The others looked at him. "Hm?"

West turned around. "If we don’t have enough first-year awakeners..."

He tapped lightly against the table. "...then we’ll simply make more."

Jax blinked. "...Boss?"

West’s smile only widened. "It looks like..."

"...it’s time to create some new first-year awakeners."

In the meantime, West sent for the other two first year awakeners in their gang.

About thirty minutes later, West stood before the holographic strategy table inside the conference room while Aria projected dozens of ruin reports across the air.

Jax sat lazily with his boots resting on another chair while Nina remained standing with folded arms.

Beside them stood the other two first-year awakeners currently in Shadow Reapers.

The first was a lean young man named Roy Wesker. He was nineteen years old with dark auburn hair cut short on the sides with the top slightly messy, giving him a perpetually carefree appearance.

Despite his relaxed smile, his emerald eyes were always scanning his surroundings. He possessed a Transformation Branch, allowing portions of his body to morph into hardened obsidian-like claws and armor.

Leo rarely spoke unless he had something useful to contribute.

Standing beside him was Morgana Perce, an eighteen-year-old woman with shoulder-length silver-blonde hair tied into a practical ponytail.

She wasn’t particularly tall, but she carried herself with confidence. Her amber eyes rarely betrayed emotion, and unlike the louder members of the gang, Morgan preferred observing before acting.

She also had a transformation Branch that allowed her morph into evolved versions of any animal she chose.

West looked around the room. "You four."

His tone became serious. "If Castle Extingo is truly as dangerous as every report suggests..."

"...then your current strength isn’t enough."

Jax scratched his cheek. "You’re not wrong."

Nina nodded as well. "We’re still too weak."

West pointed toward the holographic image of awakened branches.

"To survive in there, you need to increase the light across your branches."

"Which means..."

"...Affinity Stones."

Everyone sighed upon hearing that.

Leo rubbed the back of his neck. "Boss..."

"Those things are ridiculously hard to find."

Morgan agreed. "And ridiculously expensive."

West nodded. "I know."

Affinity Stones weren’t ordinary awakened materials...

They represented one of the primary methods through which awakeners cultivated their branches.

Every branch possessed dormant pathways stretching from one end to the other.

The more those pathways became illuminated through affinity, the stronger the awakened grew.

It wasn’t an overnight process and it required enormous quantities of suitable Affinity Stones.

West enlarged another projection which displayed blue, red and white stones.

"Jax."

"Nina."

"You both possess Bloodline Awakenings."

"You’ll require Blue Affinity Stones."

Both nodded as West then turned toward Leo and Morgan. "You two possess Transformation Branches."

"You’ll need Red Affinity Stones."

Morgan sighed. "I’ve only managed to absorb one since awakening."

Leo laughed bitterly. "I’ve not even managed a single one."

West wasn’t surprised.

Affinity Stones weren’t simply rare, they were outrageously rare.

Even gangs with enormous financial backing struggled to gather sufficient quantities.

West looked toward Jax and Nina and suddenly recalled another issue. "The two of you..."

"...have three branches."

Jax groaned dramatically. "Oh come on."

"Don’t remind me."

West chuckled. "Unfortunately..."

"You’ll require roughly three times the resources."

Nina pinched the bridge of her nose. "So we’re basically bankrupt before we even start."

Aria finally stepped forward. "I’ve already begun preparing for that."

Everyone looked toward her as she expanded another series of holographic reports.

"We have scanning database that estimates the probability of a ruin possessing affinity stones."

She highlighted several ruins scattered across neighboring cities. "These ruins have higher-than- 10% chances of containing Affinity Stones."

West smiled. "Exactly."

"From now on... you four will stop prioritizing Misty High based ruins."

"You’ll prioritize growth."

Jax raised an eyebrow. "So..."

"We’re traveling?"

West nodded. "Outside Misty High."

"Some of these ruins are several cities away."

Morgan looked impressed. "That’s going to be expensive."

"It is."

"But necessary."

Aria continued. "I’ll personally handle every booking."

"We’ll specifically reserve ruins with the highest recorded affinity yield."

Leo frowned. "And if we still don’t find any?"

West answered immediately. "Then we clear another."

"And another."

"And another."

Aria quietly added, "Statistically..."

"Even after clearing ten suitable ruins..."

"...finding even a single Affinity Stone isn’t guaranteed."

The room became noticeably quieter as everyone finally understood how difficult the coming months would be.

West crossed his arms. "I don’t care."

"We keep searching and if we can’t acquire from any cleared ruins, we’ll make purchases of any one we can find for sale."

"I refuse to walk into Castle Extingo underprepared."

He looked toward the projected team assignments. "You four won’t be going alone."

Another list appeared. "I’ve assigned ten additional Shadow Reapers members to accompany you."

"They’ll provide support."

Jax grinned. "So basically..."

"We’re becoming a dedicated expedition squad."

"Exactly," West nodded. "You leave tomorrow morning."

Everyone exchanged determined looks.

Three months was all they had. Three months to become significantly stronger.

Three months before one of the greatest opportunities in awakened history arrived.

As the meeting concluded and everyone began leaving... West remained behind.

His expression gradually became thoughtful.

Affinity Stones weren’t his biggest concern right now... creating awakeners were.

"I can’t just awaken random people..."
