Drako reached the gates of Astra Academy just before the entrance period ended.

The enormous academy looked more like a fortress than a school.

Towers stretched toward the sky, massive training arenas surrounded the central courtyard, and students walked everywhere carrying weapons or wearing combat equipment.

Drako stopped for a moment and stared. He had imagined standing here for years. Now he was finally here.

The System appeared in front of him. He thought about closing the screen, and it disappeared.

He thought about opening it again, and it returned. “Can anyone else see this?” [Negative.] Drako relaxed. Keeping the System secret would be one of his most important rules.

He approached the registration platform. A device scanned his body. [Level detected: 1.] Several students nearby laughed. “Level 1?”

“How did someone like that get accepted?”

Drako ignored them. He received his academy uniform and identification collar. The collar displayed his official level: 1

The opening ceremony began soon afterward. Hundreds of students gathered inside the main arena. A tall instructor stepped onto the platform.

“Welcome to Astra Academy. Some of you will become elite warriors. Some will become hunters.

Others may eventually become leaders of entire cities.”

The crowd became quiet. “But remember this. Power without control is a danger to yourself and everyone around you.” Drako listened carefully.

“At this academy, you will learn combat, energy control, beast hunting, weapon mastery, survival, and teamwork.

Drako almost smiled. He already knew what failure felt like. After the ceremony, students were divided into training groups. Drako met Adrian first.

Adrian was intelligent and carried a small technological device on his wrist. “You’re Drako, right?” “Yeah.” “I’m Adrian.” They shook hands.

A quiet student carrying a sword approached them. “Raizen.” Adrian looked at him. “That’s your introduction?”

Raizen nodded. Adrian laughed. A girl walked over. “Are you guys forming a group?” Her name was Mira.

Adrian looked at Drako. “Apparently.” Mira smiled. “Then I’m joining.” Drako smiled back. For the first time, he felt like he might actually have friends.

Their first training session began that afternoon. Students were tested on physical strength, speed, energy control, and combat. Drako deliberately held himself back.

He couldn’t risk revealing his abilities. During physical training, he performed slightly above average.

During energy control, he suppressed his Dragon and Vampire energy. An instructor noticed him. “Drako.” He turned. “Yes?” “Your energy signature is strange.”

Drako’s heart jumped. “Strange?” “Very weak, but unstable.” Drako shrugged. “Maybe I need more training.”

The instructor studied him before moving on. That night, Drako returned to his room and locked the door.

He summoned the System. [Secondary Quest.] [Increase Dragon Bloodline to 1%.] [Increase Vampire Bloodline to 1%.] [Potential methods: Combat, training, beast hunting, compatible materials.] Drako sat on his bed.

“So fighting beasts can make me stronger?” [Affirmative.] “And the stronger I become, the stronger my bloodlines become?” [Potentially.] Drako smiled.

“Good.”

The next morning, he began training before sunrise. He ran around the academy grounds. He practiced punches and kicks.

He practiced Dragon Scales until he could make the golden scales appear across both arms.

Then he practiced Blood Sense. He closed his eyes and listened. He could hear footsteps outside his room.

He could hear heartbeats. He could sense energy moving through people.

It was overwhelming at first, but he slowly learned to control it. Then he attempted to combine his two powers.

Golden energy appeared around his right hand. Crimson energy appeared around his left. He slowly brought them together.

“Fine.” He tried again.

The result was worse. He fell to one knee. But he didn’t quit. He remembered the beast that had nearly killed him.

He remembered being powerless. “I’ll learn.” Days passed. Drako trained constantly. Adrian improved his technology.

Mira worked on her speed. Raizen sharpened his swordsmanship. The four began eating together and training together.

They were slowly becoming a real team. Then the academy announced their first field expedition.

The students would enter the outer hunting zone. Drako’s eyes immediately lit up. The System appeared. [Quest opportunity detected.] [Beast hunting can provide experience.] Drako clenched his fist. This was exactly what he needed.

The instructor warned them before the expedition. “Stay together. The outer zone contains low-level beasts, but unexpected creatures can appear.

If you encounter something beyond your ability, retreat immediately.”

Drako looked toward the forest. Something about it made him uneasy.

He didn’t know why. He didn’t know that the forest was hiding something much more dangerous than the beasts listed in the academy’s records.

And he didn’t know that something inside that forest had already sensed the awakening of his ancient bloodlines.
