My Farming Domain Is Broken

Chapter 22. 2nd Conquest! (1)

The difference between the two Conquests was obvious.

The goblins could kill him, but they could also die from one clean strike.

Carlos had reach, strength, and a proper weapon.

This was the kind of fight he had trained for.

He moved back toward the hut.

"One, change targets! Left side!"

Two goblins were climbing through a window behind the slime.

One turned and fired.

The first goblin took the Water Shot in its shoulder, but it did not stop. Its knife came down toward One’s core.

Carlos threw himself through the doorway.

He could not turn the long spear inside the hut.

Instead, he grabbed it with both hands and blocked the knife with the reinforced shaft.

Metal struck wood, but the shaft held.

Carlos pushed the goblin into the wall and slammed the end of the spear into its face.

The second goblin jumped through the window.

One hit it with a Water Shot at point-blank range, making the goblin wince in pain and fly back outside.

Carlos reversed his grip and drove the spearhead into the first one’s stomach.

[Goblin Scavenger eliminated]

"Stay away from the windows," Carlos told One.

The slime moved to the center of the room.

Another stone entered through the doorway and struck Carlos’s upper arm.

Pain spread through the entire limb.

--

HP: 344/360

--

Only sixteen damage.

But the stone had immediately left a dark bruise.

If it had struck his temple, the amount of health would not have mattered.

Carlos looked through the doorway.

The goblins had stopped rushing him.

Nine remained.

They gathered on the road while the two sling users moved across the roofs.

One goblin pointed toward the back of the hut while three others separated from the group.

"They are trying to surround us."

These creatures were weak, but they were not mindless.

Carlos opened his inventory and took out one of the broken pieces of his first spear.

He placed it against the doorway so that the sharp stone tip pointed outward.

Then he dragged the remaining chairs behind the table.

It would not stop the goblins for long.

It only needed to slow them down.

"One, follow me."

Carlos climbed through the window on the opposite side.

The slime squeezed through after him.

They left the hut before the goblins completed their circle.

Carlos moved between two buildings and found one of the goblins trying to reach the back wall.

It noticed him too late.

The spear entered its back, and the goblin died without making a single sound.

The second turned and raised its axe, but One was already prepared and fired at its legs.

The Water Shot made the goblin slip on the dirt.

Carlos stabbed downward.

The last goblin started running away in an attempt to save itself.

Carlos chased it onto the road, and the remaining enemies saw him.

Both sling users attacked.

Carlos moved behind the fleeing goblin.

Two stones struck its chest and back, causing the creature to fall in pain.

[Goblin Scavenger eliminated]

Carlos stepped over it and ran toward the closest building.

One bounced after him.

"Shoot the roof!"

The slime fired at the sling user above them.

The goblin moved away from the edge to avoid it.

But that gave Carlos enough time.

He stepped onto a broken cart, jumped, and grabbed the edge of the roof.

The goblin looked down, and its eyes widened.

Carlos pulled himself up with one hand while holding the spear in the other.

The goblin released its sling and drew a knife.

Carlos swept the spear across its legs, and the creature fell in surprise.

He stood and drove the iron tip downward.

[Goblin Scavenger eliminated]

The second sling user was two roofs away.

It started spinning its weapon.

Carlos ran.

He needed to hurry.

He jumped across the gap between the huts just as the stone flew.

It passed beneath him.

Carlos landed hard, rolled across the damaged roof, and continued forward.

The goblin tried to load another stone.

It did not have time.

Carlos threw the spear.

The iron head entered the goblin’s chest and carried it off the roof.

[Goblin Scavenger eliminated]

Carlos jumped down after it.

He pulled the spear free and looked toward the road.

Four goblins remained.

They were attacking One.

The slime had tried to follow Carlos, leaving the safety of the buildings. A club struck its side and flattened its watery body against the ground.

One’s HP: 61/100

--

"GET AWAY FROM IT!"

Carlos charged.

The nearest goblin turned, and Carlos’s spear entered its chest before it could lift its weapon.

He ripped the blade out and struck the second goblin across the face with the shaft.

One fired from the ground, and the water struck the third goblin’s knife hand.

Carlos stabbed it through the stomach.

The fourth tried to run, but Carlos threw the spear again.

The goblin Carlos had struck with the shaft started crawling away.

Carlos walked toward it.

It turned and raised both hands.

For one moment, Carlos hesitated.

The goblin reached for the knife hidden beneath its body.

Carlos thrust instinctively.

[Wave 1 completed]

The village became quiet.

The goblin bodies did not disappear.

Neither did their weapons.

Carlos immediately searched the road and the huts, taking everything that had not broken during the fight. Rust covered most of the blades, and several clubs were little more than heavy branches, but even poor-quality weapons could be traded, repaired, or melted down later.

[Rusty Goblin Knife x4 obtained]

[Goblin Wooden Club x4 obtained]

[Crude Stone Axe x4 obtained]

[Goblin Sling x3 obtained]

Carlos stored all fifteen weapons.

He was not leaving resources on the ground simply because they looked cheap.

Carlos went to One and placed both hands inside its damaged body. Its core had no cracks, but the water around it was having trouble maintaining its shape.

He took out some Pure Water and poured it over the slime.

One’s HP: 66/100

"I told you to stay behind me."

One’s body moved weakly.

"I know... I went too far too."

Light covered the slime.

[Blue Water Slime One has reached Level 2]

[Water Shot has reached Level 2]

[New trait acquired: Loyal]

Carlos looked at the last notification.

--

Loyal

"That is not always a good thing."

One bounced once.

The first wave alone had given him enough Wood and Stone to start recovering from the cost of his Slime Barracks. The Iron Ore would also become useful once the Tool Workshop was built.

He immediately opened the Armory Chest.
