My Hidden Heresy Skill Forged an SSS-Ranked Harem for Infinite Points
Chapter 249: Beyond the BordersIn the shining and distant nation of Armenes, an important secret meeting was taking place at that very moment.
The meeting place was a sacred and highly restricted site, located in the exact center of the holy capital. An immense elevated place, built without walls and surrounded solely by large white stone columns.
This sacred and tranquil site was known to all members of the church as the Armenes Altar.
There, far from the eyes of common citizens, five powerful entities were having a serious meeting. They had gathered to discuss the progress and the future of their war against the demon kings.
To one side of the imposing stone altar stood two tall and strong knights, Adriel and Azriel.
Both men wore impeccable armor and clothing in white and gold. They were the sacred colors that represented the church’s power and purity to the world.
They held their positions firmly, emanating a constant aura of light that illuminated the place. And right on the other side of the altar, maintaining an equally upright posture, were two women named Celestia and Cielle.
Both women shared the same elegant white and gold clothing as their male companions.
In the exact center of the altar, resting comfortably on a large white stone throne, was Keeper.
He was the highest leader of all the holy knights and the supreme authority in that silent room.
Celestia and Adriel were not simple soldiers or messengers under his direct command; they were fundamental pillars of his army.
Both were the official captains of the first and second divisions of the holy knights, respectively.
"Our troops have gained a lot of ground recently, Lord Keeper," Celestia said with a clear voice full of pride.
The captain took a step forward to give her report, feeling very satisfied with the results of her battles.
"We have completely destroyed one of the main Edonehs cities, causing heavy casualties to the enemy side."
Celestia smiled slightly, completely confident in the overwhelming strength of her armed divisions on the battlefield.
"And from the reports, it doesn’t seem like the other demon kings have the slightest intention of helping Lucerys."
Upon hearing his companion’s excellent progress report, Adriel also decided to take a step forward.
The captain of the second division looked directly at his leader, showing an immense and fierce enthusiasm for the war.
"Lord Keeper," Adriel called out, raising his voice slightly to make his aggressive military stance clear to the rest.
"Perhaps this is the best moment of all to advance and get rid of a demon king once and for all."
"..."
Keeper did not immediately respond to his excited subordinate’s hasty suggestion.
The supreme leader remained in silence, evaluating the situation from the comfort of his seat. The only sound on the altar was the noise Keeper made as he slowly tapped the armrest of his throne.
Tap, tap, tap.
He rhythmically tapped the hard stone with his index finger, losing himself in his own calculating thoughts.
"No," he ordered suddenly, with a very deep and firm voice.
"Give the order to withdraw all our men from the front lines right now."
Keeper’s firm words fell like a massive block of ice on the captains’ warrior pride.
"But Lord Keeper, this is our great opportunity..." Azriel questioned, taking a quick step forward in evident confusion.
The knight of light could not understand why his leader wanted to abandon a war they had practically already won.
"Now that we finally have him cornered in his own territory, it is the best time to attack with everything we have."
And after hearing Azriel’s clear complaint, the rest of the captains looked at each other in a tense silence.
Celestia and Adriel nodded their heads slightly, completely agreeing.
"Don’t be fools," Keeper reprimanded them immediately, looking at them all with massive disappointment in his cold eyes.
He stopped tapping the throne’s armrest with his finger and leaned forward slightly, showing his imposing presence.
"If that demon king named Lucerys did not intervene directly to defend his own destroyed city."
Keeper paused briefly so his logical words could be assimilated by his captains’ minds.
"And if he also didn’t send his strongest sentinels to fight, that only means one very clear thing. It means he is just letting us advance, it is a trap."
The church’s supreme leader leaned back on his throne and continued tapping the stone armrest with his index finger. His mind had already deciphered the true, dark plans of the enemy waiting in the shadows.
"I see..." Keeper murmured to himself, putting the final pieces of the puzzle together in his mind.
"What Lucerys truly intends with this fake weakness is to go after the saint."
Upon hearing that sudden revelation, the atmosphere on the altar completely changed, filling with immense urgency.
"She is currently visiting the city of Kallistia, isn’t she?" Keeper asked, fixing his analytical gaze on Celestia.
"Yes, my lord," Celestia reported immediately, recalling the latest reports regarding the saint’s movements.
"She should be in Kallistia meeting with her brother, Hero William. And of course, she is being escorted by the other holy knights we assigned for her strict protection."
Cielle crossed her arms beneath her chest, showing clear disgust on her beautiful face upon hearing all of that.
"Tsk, that woman..." Cielle murmured with an evident and profound annoyance in her tone of voice.
"Did she have to insist so much on making such a long trip just to see her brother in the middle of a conflict..." she questioned.
"Dealing with her rebellious attitude is a very annoying matter," Keeper agreed in a very cold and calculating tone.
"But her power, that strange power she possesses, will help us greatly in the final battle against the demons."
To the supreme leader of Armenes, Priscilla’s personal life and feelings held no real value. She was simply a very useful and necessary tool that they had to keep safe at all costs until the end.
"The real problem was presenting her to the human world as a public figure, as our saint,"
Keeper said, showing a slight but sincere regret for having made that political decision in the past.
"It would have been much simpler for us to simply force her to cooperate from the shadows."
If they had kept her locked up and completely subjugated in the capital, they wouldn’t have to deal with her risky family trips.
"That is very true, my lord," Celestia added, completely agreeing with her leader’s harsh pragmatism.
"Then, I will go right now to inform all the commanders to retreat immediately from Lucerys’s lands."
The captain made a deep bow of respect and prepared to leave the altar and carry out her new retreat orders.
"Wait." Keeper stopped her, raising a hand before she could turn around completely.
"How is the other urgent matter I tasked you with investigating coming along?"
Celestia tensed slightly upon hearing that question and returned to her original position, losing her great confidence.
"You are referring to Ryan, aren’t you?" she asked, lowering her voice a bit in the middle of the lit room.
"Yes," Keeper stated dryly, and a fleeting flash of anger crossed his eyes at the mention of that name.
"Are there any new clues about his whereabouts on the continent?"
"No... there is nothing," Celestia replied with great difficulty, feeling a deep sense of shame.
"He hides very well from our best trackers in the forests and the mountains. We have made sure to place a very good bounty on his head in every corner of the world."
Celestia pressed her lips together, knowing perfectly well that simple excuses wouldn’t do much good against her leader’s fury.
"Even so, the mercenaries can’t seem to find him anywhere, sir. I am very sorry."
A tense and uncomfortable silence formed between the five beings of light after hearing the disappointing search report.
"If only Lady Udriela were here with us at this moment..." Cielle said with genuine sadness in her voice.
"Ha," Adriel mocked immediately, letting out a very cold laugh completely devoid of empathy.
"In the first place, this entire disaster happened solely because Udriela was not capable of taking over his body."
Adriel looked at Cielle with clear disdain for defending someone who had failed their main mission.
"We should have left someone far more capable than her in charge," the arrogant captain intervened.
"Do not speak of Lady Udriela like that..." Cielle murmured in a low voice, clenching the fists at her sides with a lot of suppressed fury.
"Silence," Keeper ordered with a lethal tone that cut the impending verbal fight off at the root.
The leader’s strong, deep voice echoed off the immense columns of the altar, forcing everyone to calm down immediately.
Cielle and Adriel quickly separated, lowered their heads, and everyone fell back into their initial places.
"No one imagined that that man would travel to our world with an extra power completely hidden from our knowledge,"
Keeper clarified directly, partially defending the inevitable failure of his former subordinate of light.
"It is not Udriela’s fault. We were all too careless in underestimating him from the very beginning."
Keeper let out a light, heavy sigh. "And now he has become a major problem."
After making his definitive stance on the past incident clear, Keeper slowly stood up from his large stone throne. The leader walked with firm, heavy steps through the middle of the four captains, imposing his massive physical presence over them.
He stopped right at the edge of the elevated altar, looking out into the distance between the tall, wall-less columns surrounding them.
His intense gaze seemed to try and pierce through the clouds in the sky to see the distant continent where his enemies moved.
"Let us deal with one thing at a time," he ordered firmly, without turning around to look them in the face.
"For now, I want Priscilla back in the safety of the holy city as soon as possible. After securing her life, we will deal directly with Lucerys’s army. And when we recover the ancient relics hidden in those lands..."
Keeper clasped his hands behind his back, thinking about the immense power waiting for them in those dangerous enemy lands.
Keeper’s voice grew much darker and full of unbridled ambition for absolute control.
"We will recover all of our true power."
