My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 286: The Beginning Of The End [Part 1]

The screams of agony seemed to pierce the heavens as they thundered across the battlefield.

And within that scream, a hearty laugh sounded.

A laughter that came from someone who made the impossible possible.

Troy activated his two rings, one with the power of Push and the other with Pull, at the same time.

With the power of Pull, he forced himself to stick to the Dragon’s body, and with the power of Push, he sank the dagger deeper into its eye.

The Dragon continued to shake its head wildly, desperate to throw off the bug that had stung its eye.

However, Troy was persistent. His laughter echoed across the sky as his dagger pierced even deeper into the Dragon’s eye.

Soon, a spray of blood bathed his body, covered in fourth-degree burns. He was already suffering from great pain, and yet, he still held on with everything he had.

Unfortunately, Troy was already a spent candle.

After heroically holding on for a minute, the Dragon had successfully shaken him off.

As the Chieftain of the Darkmane Tribe fell thousands of meters down from the sky, a peace he had never felt before settled in his heart.

After all, he had done his best until the very end.

’I can now go and see the Earth Mother with pride...’ Troy thought. ’Jafar, take care of my sons. I leave them in your hands.’

He then saw the setting sun in the distance.

In the pursuit of his ambition, he forgot to enjoy the scenery in his surroundings.

"Beautiful..." Troy muttered.

Yes, it was truly a beautiful sight. One that he had forgotten because of his position as the Chieftain of the Darkmane Tribe.

Though from the radiance of the sun, he saw something move past it.

Troy no longer had any strength in his body, but he could still see it.

His ears could still perceive it.

"Trooooooooy!"

Riding on the back of a wyvern, the shaman of the Darkmane Tribe urged his mount to grab hold of his dying chieftain.

The Undead Wyvern screeched and grabbed Troy in one fell swoop before circling around to escape.

Their destination was none other than the Aslan Tribe’s fortress.

Hundreds of flying monsters blocked their path, but among them, he saw a banner flutter in the breeze.

A young man riding on a Pegasus, carrying a blue banner with a golden lion roaring toward the heavens, appeared in Troy’s vision.

"Aslan Tribe...." Leone shouted. "Charge!"

*Squeak!*

Blitz unleashed lightning bolts against the flying monsters, shocking them all.

Then, a screech came from the Gryphon, Astravor, making the Harpies turn in its direction.

Without even pausing its flight, the Gryphon clawed and pecked everything that blocked its path.

Following behind it was Maximus, using twin swords to hack the Harpies’ wings as it sent them crashing toward the ground.

Brann then appeared with a pair of wings that burned as dark as the night.

He advanced ahead of his Master, Leone, and cleared a path for Jafar’s Wyvern to pass through.

"For the Horde!" Rasta shouted as the shamans riding on Dread Condors unleashed their spells, repelling the Pteranodons that were trying to grab the Wyvern and preventing it from escaping.

Leone flew toward the Wyvern, intending to use Heal in an attempt to save Troy. However, several flying monsters barred his path.

At that moment, something flew past Leone like a blur.

Godwin, who flew with the wings of a Thunder Roc behind his back, zigzagged across the sky, cutting down the monsters with a sword covered in lightning.

He made sure to deal with the monsters blocking Leone’s path so that they wouldn’t be able to hinder him in what he had to do.

The Chieftain of the Warclaw Tribe gave the young man a sidelong glance before returning his attention to the monsters in the surroundings, ensuring none of them would be able to get in the young man’s way.

"Heal!" Leone used his healing spell on the dying chieftain being held by the Wyvern as soon as he came within its range.

"Heal!"

"HEAL!"

"HEAL!!"

At that moment, Troy looked at the young man, whom he previously wished to kill, with a steady gaze.

Darkness was already creeping into his vision, while sleep had already taken hold of him.

Soon, the chieftain hung limp in the Wyvern’s hold, his life beginning to slip away.

It was then that Daedalus told Leone something.

"Troy will die in less than two minutes," Daedalus said. "However, I can temporarily stop it from happening if I store him inside my pages. Do you want me to do it?"

Leone didn’t answer right away. Instead, he asked Jafar a question.

"Jafar, do you trust me?!" Leone asked, his gaze filled with determination.

The shaman was surprised because he hadn’t expected the young chieftain to personally come to his rescue.

Yet, seeing the look in the young man’s eyes, the shaman immediately understood that Leone was planning to save Troy.

"Yes!" Jafar shouted. "I believe in you!"

"Good." Leone nodded. "Do it, Daedalus!"

The grimoire strapped around the young chieftain’s waist finally opened its pages at those words, bathing Troy in a golden light.

The moment the chieftain was safely stored in its pages, it flew alongside Leone like a guiding light. It then told Leone of a strategy that it came up with on the spot, which its Master readily acknowledged.

"Rally to me!" Leone shouted. "I have a plan!"

The Bronze Dragon, who was now completely blind in one eye and was also under the effects of the poison, unleashed a blood-curdling roar before flying toward Leone’s group, who were currently fleeing in a tight formation.

While that was happening, the land monsters attacking the fortress of the Darkmane Tribe all stopped what they were doing and charged toward Grimjaw Mountain.

The Monster King had given them the order to kill the fools who had humiliated its sovereignty, no matter the cost.

"When I give the signal, all of us will dive and fly as close to the ground as possible!" Leone shouted. "Wait for my mark!"

In the meantime, Kael, who was left behind on the fortress, was coordinating with Daedalus.

"Ready!" Kael ordered.

The Fireshard Catapults had stopped firing earlier because they were afraid that they might hit their allies by accident. But now, all of them were ready to unleash another volley of destruction upon their foes.

"Now, Kael!" Daedalus said through telepathy.

"Fire!" Kael shouted.

A hundred fireballs streaked across the sky in response, all of them heading toward Leone, who was in the lead of the retreating forces.

"Dive now!" Leone ordered.

Arion made a sharp descent. Everyone, including the members of the Ravage Tribe, followed behind him.

Blinded by anger, frustration, and madness, the Bronze Dragon realized what was happening a step late.

Soon, loud explosions boomed in the sky as the Fireshard Catapults’ bombardment hit the Bronze Dragon, making it stagger mid-flight.

With one of its eyes blind and its mind clouded with madness, the Bronze Dragon wasn’t able to think properly.

That gave the defenders more than enough time to load their Fireshard Catapults once more and unleash their second volley.

"Fire!" Kael’s voice thundered within the fortress.

The Bronze Dragon might have been overwhelmed with bloodlust, but it could still perceive the danger it was in.

With a flap of its mighty wings, it tried to fly higher to evade the incoming strikes.

It partially succeeded in its attempts, but dozens of Fireshard Catapults still hit its body.

Blood sprayed from its body, which had already been battered and weakened by the first bombardment.

It was then that something happened.

The monster’s body was suddenly wrapped in a black aura. Then, the effect of the poison that made its body sluggish seemed to have disappeared as it flew toward the Aslan Tribe’s fortress.

"Prepare for battle!" Leone shouted as he flew past the ramparts with the rest of the group that had come to rescue Troy from the claws of death.

He then circled around and gave an order.

"Aslan Tribe!"

"Ravage Tribe!" Logan bellowed.

"Grimhowl Tribe!" Hagen roared.

"Sandreaver Tribe!" Malik raised his scimitar.

"Warclaw Tribe!" Godwin pointed his blade toward the incoming enemies.

"Redmaw Tribe!" Duncan nocked an arrow on his bow.

"Grimfang Tribe!" Oswald raised his hand.

"Ironhide Tribe!" Garen shouted.

""""Kill!""""

The sky darkened as countless arrows and bolts blocked the light of the setting sun.

Above them, the wounded Monster King roared with unrestrained fury, commanding its monster army to destroy everything on their path.

While below, the united tribes of the Borderlands answered back with a roar of their own.

The battle that would decide the fate of the Borderlands had finally begun. And for the first time in many years, all the tribes, who had treated each other as rivals and enemies, fought as one!
