My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 289: The Beginning Of The End [Part 4]

The Darkmane Tribe crashed against the rear of the monster army like an unstoppable mighty wave.

Fueled by the anger they felt for not being able to help their chieftain fight against the Monster King, the tribe’s warriors were out for blood.

Mounted on a Darkmane Lion, Ivan led this mighty charge and broke through the enemy ranks like a hot knife slicing through butter. He didn’t stop advancing forward, using the monster corpses in his path to enter the fortress.

When his mount jumped over the destroyed wall, he took a quick scan of his surroundings and learned the direness of the situation.

He then locked his gaze at the Ogre Warlord. Instead of running away, he urged his mount to charge in its direction.

With a mighty roar, the Darkmane Lion charged at its target, lunging at its back without fear.

The Lion bit the Ogre Warlord’s neck, grabbing hold of its shoulders with its claws. Using that opportunity, Ivan jumped on the Ogre Warlord’s head and smashed it with his warhammer.

However, a Rank 6 Monster wasn’t that easy to defeat.

Although the blow connected, all it did was anger the Ogre Warlord even more. As retaliation to the blow, it grabbed the Darkmane Lion’s jaws, forcing it open to free itself from its bite.

Due to the difference in strength, the Ogre Warlord easily overpowered the lion and soon freed itself from its clutches.

With an angry roar, it tossed the Lion towards the wall, while Ivan jumped away to safety.

Soon, the lion slammed against the hard stone and was knocked unconscious.

Meanwhile, Daedalus, who was paying close attention to the battle, finally activated the traps it had prepared.

The base of the mountain was, in fact, all covered in pitfalls.

When it sensed the defenders struggling to hold the line, the grimoire activated it to buy everyone some breathing room.

Within seconds, hundreds of monsters found themselves falling toward holes that were around fifty meters deep. Even the Ogre Warlord wasn’t able to escape this trap, falling to one of the holes with a furious howl.

Yet, despite the fact that hundreds of monsters had already been trapped, hundreds more took their place.

Amidst this chaotic melee, Tianna held onto Jason’s head.

The young man slowly opened his eyes, only to see the person who had been recently overstaying her welcome on his head.

"...Lady... Tianna?" Jason said as blood seeped out of the corner of his lips. "What... are you... doing here?"

When Jason participated in his first tribal gathering at the City of Eden, he had fallen in love at first sight with the beautiful jewel of the Warclaw Tribe.

Although he understood that the difference between their statuses was like heaven and earth, he still couldn’t help himself from looking in her direction.

Perhaps sensing his gaze, Tianna had looked back at him at the time. And then, she smiled. That smile made Jason fall in love with her all over again.

Since then, he hoped to become a man worthy of her love.

Someone worthy of her rank.

Someone whom the Chief of the Warclaw Tribe would approve of, so that he would give his blessing to them when Jason asked for Tianna’s hand in marriage.

And now, seeing her holding onto him as he lay dying made Jason feel like he could now die without regrets. At least, he had seen her again in his last moments.

"Don’t talk," Tianna said, her face pale. "You’ll live. You must live. Do you hear me?"

"Hah..." Jason’s breath grew ragged, his strength leaving his body.

Suddenly, from one of the pitfalls Daedalus had activated, the Ogre Warlord’s head emerged.

It had climbed up from the hole it had fallen into. And now, it set its sights on the two teenagers not far from its location.

Having watched all this unfold from the sky, Leone realized that both Jason and Tianna were in grave danger.

"Arion, go!" With that, Leone urged the Pegasus to fly downward so they could distract the monster aiming for one of his vassals.

The Pegasus did as it was ordered and dove down from the sky,

Using the banner in his hand, Leone whacked the Ogre Warlord’s head as they flew past it, prompting it to glare in their direction.

"Come here, you ugly brute!" Leone shouted.

The Ogre Warlord glared back in the young man’s direction but chose to ignore him. It was more interested in targeting the helpless teenagers that would serve as a decent snack for it.

It was then that a pair of claws crashed onto its face, tearing flesh and drawing blood from it.

Astravor had followed behind Leone and clashed with the Ogre Warlord to stop its advance.

Filled with rage, the Ogre Warlord grabbed hold of the Gryphon’s claws, holding it in place.

It then punched the side of Astravor’s body, making the Gryphon screech in pain.

Not satisfied with what it did, the Ogre then slammed the Gryphon on the ground and stomped its legs, crushing it completely.

The sound of bone breaking was like music to its ears, fueling its bloodlust.

"Astravoooooooooor!" Leone roared out in anger after seeing what happened to the Gryphon.

He watched helplessly as the Ogre Warlord kicked the fallen beast, making the latter crash against the mountain. Soon, it fell to the ground with a heavy thud.

Memories of the times when the Gryphon had helped and saved Leone flashed across the young man’s mind.

At that moment, the same anger he felt when he killed Ragan and Varus after seeing what they did to Yuni in his vision rose from his chest.

He didn’t know if Astravor was dead or alive.

Nevertheless, given the severity of its injuries, as well as the rank difference between it and the Ogre Warlord, its chances of surviving those devastating attacks were extremely low.

Leone knew no one would be able to help Jason and Tianna because everyone else was fighting their own battles.

If anything, only he could help them.

With anger and bloodlust rising from his chest, Leone finally unleashed one of his trump cards.

"Limit Break!" Leone growled as he entered a state of self-hypnosis.

He didn’t open the Black Gate. Though, he did give his consciousness an order.

Eliminate the Ogre Warlord and all the monsters in his surroundings using any means necessary without endangering his tribe and his allies.

The Ogre Warlord, who had just dealt with the annoying Gryphon, reached out to grab Tianna, who was still holding onto Jason.

However, it was then that a stone pillar emerged from the ground and slammed against its arm, preventing it from touching the young lady.

Taken completely off guard by what just happened, the Ogre Warlord finally sensed the overwhelming presence behind it.

When it turned around to look, it saw a young man walking in its direction, holding a banner in his hand.

Leone had fallen into a state of self-hypnosis and was no longer in control of his own body.

The Ogre Warlord roared and charged at Leone like a juggernaut that would destroy anything in its path.

In response, the young man stomped his foot, and soon, a stone parapet around five meters thick rose up from the ground, causing the monster to trip from its charge.

As Leone punched out, a stone pillar simultaneously jutted out from the ground and smashed against the Ogre Warlord’s head like a speeding truck.

Fragments of flesh and blood were blown off from the Ogre’s head due to the impact of the blow.

And while that was happening, inside the Black Gate within Leone’s Sea of Consciousness, two beings stirred as they watched the young man fight against the Ogre Warlord with amused expressions on their faces.
