My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 293: Rising From the Ashes [Part 2]The sudden change in the Monster King’s presence made the defenders’ expressions turn solemn.
They initially thought that the Bronze Dragon losing its wings would make it easier to deal with. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
The only saving grace was that the vast monster army had been reduced to mere hundreds.
And after realizing that the Monster King seemed to have gone berserk, most of them fled rather than fight alongside it.
Unfortunately, even in its berserk state, the Monster King didn’t like deserters.
Without hesitation, it opened its mouth and unleashed a Lightning Breath, annihilating vast numbers of its subordinates without a shred of mercy.
Amidst everyone’s grim expressions, one person’s voice spread across the battlefield.
"We only have one enemy left!" Kael shouted. "Everyone, attack the Monster King!"
This reminder broke everyone out of their daze.
Indeed, they only had one enemy remaining. If they focused all their attention on it, they might finally win this battle.
However, no one dared to make the first move.
Only Boris, the Ravage Tribe Shamans, Blitz, Maximus, Otto, Godwin, and the Blood Golem were the ones actively fighting against it.
The other tribes were hesitating, for fighting against such a monster on an open field was suicide.
Even Godwin didn’t give any orders to the Warclaw Tribe to help fight the Bronze Dragon. He knew this was a monster that couldn’t be defeated by sheer willpower and determination alone.
Everyone’s attention was so focused on the Monster King that no one paid attention to Tianna, who had just made a very difficult decision.
She wrapped her wings around herself and Jason, shielding them from the view of anyone who might be looking in their direction.
The young lady then kissed his lips, sharing the power of the Earth Mother, which she had received after being chosen as her Oracle.
Jason’s injury was so serious that if nothing was done, he would die very soon. This was why Tianna had chosen to sacrifice her power. If it meant her beloved would survive his fatal injuries, this was nothing.
No one knew what Tianna had done.
No one knew the consequences of her actions.
While this was happening, something else took place at the same time.
In what seemed to be outer space, Daedalus glowed faintly in the darkness, as if calling out to someone.
"It has been a long time since you reached out to me."
After some time, a silver gate manifested from within the darkness, opening slowly.
A moment later, a young man with short black hair and green eyes stepped out of it, looking at Daedalus with a calm expression on his face.
"I need your help, Thirteen," Daedalus said. "I need you to save one of your cannon fodder."
In response, the young man looked down from the heavens and saw the battle happening on the ground.
"And why should I help you?" Thirteen asked.
"You owe me, remember?" Daedalus insisted. "If you help me this one time, your debt will be cleared."
The young man with short black hair and green eyes smiled faintly in return. Looks like this acquaintance hadn’t let go of the debt that he owed nearly two thousand years ago.
Nevertheless, a debt was a debt. He wasn’t someone who would forget the favor he had received in the past.
"Is he the one you chose this time around?" Thirteen pointed at the young man with short blonde hair, who was currently unconscious.
"Yes," Daedalus answered. "His name is Leone."
The black-haired young man rubbed his chin. "You chose neither a hero nor a villain, huh? You actually chose an extra."
"So what if he is an extra?" Daedalus asked back in a challenging tone. "My boy will become someone great in the future. Do you dare to make a bet with me?"
"There’s no need for that," Thirteen replied. "I believe you. Though, I thought you asked me to come because you wanted me to save some random cannon fodder?"
"Yes," Daedalus replied. "I want you to save someone."
The grimoire then used its body to point at something on the battlefield.
"I see..." Thirteen muttered before he reached out to beckon the soul that had just left its body.
Soon, a golden orb of light flew toward his direction, as if unable to defy the young man’s summons.
Thirteen closed his eyes before reading the soul’s memory. A minute later, he finally understood why his acquaintance wished to save this pitiful cannon fodder.
"I can only keep his soul here for a few minutes," Thirteen said. "I don’t have the power to raise the dead. I do know someone who could, but you and I both know that doing so will break the cycle. You asked me to come here to buy you some time, right?"
"Yes." Daedalus nodded. "This one is pretty stubborn, so I need you to help me buy some time."
"How long?" Thirteen arched an eyebrow.
"As long as it takes," Daedalus replied firmly.
"You have fifteen minutes."
"Twenty!"
"Fine. But this time, you owe me." Thirteen smiled faintly. "It would be great if you could hurry up, though. I’m still on a honeymoon with my wife, Fate."
"Your wife?" Daedalus tilted its body. "Fate? Who is Fate?"
"The Goddess of Fate," Thirteen answered.
"Excuse me?"
"You have eighteen more minutes."
"Y-You!" Daedalus was dying to ask how in the Seven Hells did his acquaintance manage to marry the Goddess of Fate, whom Thirteen hated the most.
But now was not the time for this.
The grimoire opened its pages and unleashed its powers to call out to the soul currently in a state of hibernation.
Right now, the Aslan Tribe needed all the help they could get.
Daedalus knew they were at the most dangerous phase of the battle. No matter how small, it was willing to take a chance as long as it could help them tip the scales in their favor.
While the grimoire was busy at work, the unconscious young man’s finger began to twitch.
Half a minute later, Leone slowly opened his eyes.
"Are you finally awake, Young Master?" Hassan, who was still hiding in Leone’s shadow, asked.
"Yes." Leone slowly propped himself up from the ground with the help of Yuni, who noticed that he had woken up.
"Tell me the status of the battle," Leone ordered.
In response, Hassan calmly explained the events that happened while his Young Master was unconscious.
Soon, the young man’s gaze locked onto the Bronze Dragon, who was busy killing its own subordinates that had chosen to flee.
Clearly, it was enraged that its subjects had dared to abandon it, defying the orders of their one true King.
