My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 294: Rising From the Ashes [Part 3]Once Hassan finished his report, Leone called out to Arion and took to the skies once more.
The moment his allies saw he was finally awake and perhaps recovered enough to rejoin the battle, they felt hope rise in their chests.
Although they wouldn’t admit it, Leone had become a symbol of hope among the tribes in the Borderlands.
"Aslan Tribe!" Leone shouted. "Fight!"
The young man then raised his banner. Soon, all the destroyed Fireshard Catapults and other siege weapons repaired themselves within seconds.
Perhaps sensing that another variable had appeared on the battlefield, the Bronze Dragon shifted its attention toward Leone.
It then opened its mouth to unleash a Lightning Breath in his direction, but how could Leone allow that to happen?
Just as the Monster King was about to unleash its attack, the ground under its feet gave way, making it raise its head in turn.
Its breath attack shot upward, missing everything in its path.
"Man the Fireshard Catapults!" Leone ordered.
"You heard him!" Malik shouted. "Man the catapults!"
Hearing those words, the shamans of the Sandreaver Tribe hurried toward the catapults on the ground.
To their surprise, the catapults had re-aligned themselves, all of them aiming at a single spot on the battlefield.
It didn’t take long for them to understand what was happening. With determination and quiet resolve, the shamans channeled their shamanic powers into the siege weapons until they were ready to fire.
While that was happening, Leone glanced down from the sky. When he saw that all the Fireshard Catapults were now ready to fire, he surrounded the Bronze Dragon’s location with pitfall traps.
"Boris! Kael! Now!" Leone ordered.
The Blood Golem’s massive arm lashed forward like a crimson whip, while Boris unleashed a torrent of blazing dragonfire.
The two attacks landed almost simultaneously, forcing the Bronze Dragon to take a few steps back due to the pain.
However, before the Monster King could regain its footing, the earth beneath it collapsed.
Because of that, its enormous body lost its balance and fell to the ground with a loud thud, making the ground shake from the impact.
Knowing that the time had come, Kael gave the signal to unleash the payload of the Fireshard Catapults.
"Open fire!" Kael shouted.
Soon, dozens of blazing fireballs streaked across the sky like falling meteors, only for all of it to rain down on the collapsed Bronze Dragon.
Thunderous explosions echoed across the battlefield as towering pillars of crimson flames swallowed the Monster King whole.
In the past, perhaps it could have resisted this attack. But now, it couldn’t shrug off the damage that had accumulated on its body.
The bombardment continued, and the place where the Bronze Dragon stood turned into a blazing hell.
"Just die already, you bastard!" Logan shouted in anger.
The Orc Champion couldn’t believe that the Monster King was still alive after receiving so much punishment.
In fact, Logan had shouted what everyone was thinking at that moment.
They were hoping for the Monster King to die already!
Yet, as if denying their wishes, the Bronze Dragon emerged from that hellish landscape and made one last desperate charge towards Grimjaw Mountain.
At this moment, its body was filled with gaping wounds, while blood spilled with every step it took.
However, the crazed look in its eyes never faded.
It was as if it was planning to take everyone down with it to the afterlife, just so that they could all die together.
Boris didn’t hesitate to place itself between the Bronze Dragon and the walls of the Aslan Tribe.
Then again, although it didn’t look like it, the Black Dragon was already a spent candle.
Even in its ultimate form, fighting against the Monster King wasn’t easy. In fact, it was a miracle that Boris was still even standing.
All throughout, it had fought tooth and nail, purely fueled by its rage, ignoring the damage that it received during its dogfight with its hated enemy.
But now, it had reached its limits. In its current state, it could only use its body to shield the Aslan Tribe one last time.
Sure, the Blood Golem was strong, but it was slow. It wasn’t fast enough to move its body to block the Bronze Dragon’s last charge.
Though, just as Boris was about to use the last bit of its strength to lunge at the approaching enemy, something unexpected happened.
A giant stone tower crashed against the Bronze Dragon’s head, pinning it down to the ground.
Then, out of nowhere, an arrogant voice reached everyone’s ears, making Boris look up at the sky.
"Why are there so many annoying and dumb lizards on this mountain? I couldn’t find a proper stone, so I could only pick up the next best thing."
Hovering above the heavens, while looking down upon the world like a king, was a Golden Garuda Gryphon.
Boris teared up and roared back at the sky, asking the bastard bird what took it so long to arrive.
A moment later, a small rock fell on top of the Black Dragon’s head, which bounced off once before it fell to the ground.
"Don’t worry, Boris," Astravor, who had transformed into a Garuda Gryphon, replied in a teasing tone. "There’s plenty more where that came from, you know?"
Instead of feeling angry, the Black Dragon didn’t hesitate to fly toward the sky as it hugged its friend and rival, whom it thought it had lost forever.
The Gryphon sighed before lightly patting the Black Dragon’s chest with its claws.
"Yes, yes, I missed you too," Astravor said softly. "But first, let’s deal with that pest before we settle who is the strongest monster in Grimjaw Mountain between us.
"Or are you saying that you’re exhausted already? If so, then just watch from the side and watch me beat this bastard first before I beat you up."
Boris scoffed before shaking the Gryphon’s body, as if asking it, "Just who do you think you are talking to?"
Astravor looked amused as it freed itself from the Black Dragon’s grasp.
The two most powerful monsters of the Aslan Tribe then stared down at the Bronze Dragon, who was now on its last legs.
Earlier, Boris no longer had the strength to fight. But for some reason, seeing its rival made it feel inexplicably revitalized, and it now had enough strength for one last blow.
As if knowing that its friend had truly reached its limit, Astravor took a fighting stance.
"Let’s end it in one strike, Boris." Astravor then transformed into a Demi-human Garuda Gryphon, its entire body radiating intense golden light.
Boris, who didn’t want to be outdone by its rival, opened its mouth to unleash its most powerful breath attack.
In return, the Monster King raised its head toward the heavens, making the surrounding air tremble as it emitted cracking sounds.
Soon, countless bolts of red lightning raced toward its gaping maw, where they fused to form a single devastating breath attack.
Then, as if coming to an unspoken agreement, Astravor, Boris, and the Bronze Dragon moved exactly at the same time.
The three powerful attacks collided head-on.
For a heartbeat, time itself seemed to have completely stopped.
Golden light, black flames, and crimson lightning wrestled for dominance, their violent energies tearing the sky apart.
And then... a radiant light expanded outwards, forcing everyone to shield their eyes just from how blinding it was.
For a brief moment, all sounds disappeared from the battlefield before a powerful shockwave erupted, sending everyone and everything within its range...
...To kingdom come.
