My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 302: New Path Of Evolution

Drakes.

They could be considered as a branch of the Dragon Family.

The only difference was that Drakes typically didn’t have wings.

They were powerful land monsters, and according to Daedalus, the weakest of them were at the peak of Rank 3.

The grimoire believed that as soon as the Raptors of the Aslan Tribe finished their mutation, their stats would jump to the peak of Rank 3, making them Pseudo-Rank 4 Monsters.

"Beast Synthesis is amazing." Leone sighed. "I’m glad I gained it as a reward."

"Yes," Daedalus replied. "However, you were only able to unlock it because your first three vassals were beasts and monsters. If Ulric had accepted your invitation and became one of your first vassals back then, you wouldn’t have unlocked this special function."

"I was lucky then." Leone smirked in return.

"Luck is also part of your strength," Daedalus stated. "Not many had gotten this lucky at the beginning when they became my master."

Leone quieted down for a bit before looking at the grimoire hovering by his side.

"Daedalus, I don’t want the Aslan Tribe to suffer again," Leone said in a serious tone.

"Then you must build a kingdom strong enough to protect your people," Daedalus answered back. "A kingdom so strong that no one would dare to provoke it."

Of course, the grimoire didn’t tell Leone that before that dream was realized, he might suffer more heartaches along the way.

It wasn’t necessary to say it aloud.

Leone already knew this.

With that, the only thing he could do was move forward and grow alongside the Aslan tribe.

There was no shortcut to greatness, after all.

Every victory would demand sacrifice, while every step forward would invite even greater challenges.

Leone understood that the road ahead would be long, with countless hardships waiting to test both him and the people who had chosen to follow him.

"Have you purchased the seeds and expanded the plantation in the Hidden Valley?" Leone asked. "We might need to jump start production by buying seeds that can grow ten times faster than normal to be used as provisions for the campaign against the Bonegnash Tribe."

"Already did," Daedalus answered. "By the time the tribes arrive at the territory of the Bonegnash Tribe, we can already harvest the crops I planted."

"Good." Leone nodded. "Are the Dark Manticores now stable after their mutation?"

"Not yet." Daedalus shook its body. "At most, they would still need four more days to stabilize their condition. Though, I’m sure they could easily catch up with the Darkmane Tribe with no problem."

According to Leone’s estimates, all the tribes that were still at Grimjaw Mountain would leave after two days.

Also, since these Dark Manticores underwent Beast Synthesis, they were now under Daedalus’ supervision.

This meant that they would also serve as the grimoire’s eyes and ears wherever they might be.

In other words, they were the perfect scouts to monitor the battle between the Darkmane Tribe and the Bonegnash Tribe so to speak.

"How is the dismantling going on?" Leone inquired. "I hope everyone gets an equal share."

"Don’t worry," Daedalus replied. "Even the middle-ranked tribes are getting their share. I even saw Oswald, Duncan, and Garen grinning ear to ear while they were collecting some Wyvern Scales. It seems that they plan to use it to craft armor."

Leone smirked. The three chieftains had approached him earlier, hoping that he could share a few dragon scales from the Bronze Dragon with them.

The young man agreed, promising to give them two dragon scales each.

Then again, the Monster King was a hundred-meter long Bronze Dragon. Leone didn’t have much to lose from sharing a few of its scales to the three chieftains.

The only problem was that it wasn’t just them who had asked for some dragon scales.

Godwin and Hagen had also asked him for some scales, to which Leone agreed.

He originally planned to give them the same amount he gave to the middle-ranked tribes.

However, both chieftains argued that since they would be helping the Darkmane Tribe deal with the Bonegnash Tribe, they wanted four scales each.

The corner of Leone’s lips twitched back then. But in the end, he still agreed to their request.

Each dragon scale was the size of a round shield that was at least a meter in length. If not for the fact that he would still have plenty left for himself, he wouldn’t have agreed to their request.

In fact, he had already asked Daedalus to use four more dragon scales to craft a special black full-plate armor for Troy.

This armor had a special function—it would automatically fit its wearer... even if Troy were to use his Beast Transformation ability.

When Leone turned Troy into a Lionkin, he requested Daedalus to add a special ability to the chieftain, which would allow him to transform into a Dark Manticore.

And if that fully armored Manticore went into battle, it would become a very difficult enemy to face.

Though, there was also one more mutation that Leone was looking forward to.

And that was Boris’ mutation.

The Raptor Sovereign had pestered Leone yesterday. It kept complaining how it wasn’t fair that only Astravor had undergone another evolution.

Actually, Leone only came to know what happened to the Gryphon after Daedalus explained the situation to him.

According to the grimoire, the only way to save Astravor was to make it agree to become the Aslan Tribe’s Guardian Deity.

Back then, the Gryphon had turned down this proposal.

So, when it suddenly reappeared in the battlefield as a Garuda Gryphon, it made Leone breathe a sigh of relief.

But now that its rival had returned, Boris immediately challenged Astravor after a day of rest.

The result?

It was a one-sided beating.

The pitiful Raptor Sovereign couldn’t possibly beat the Garuda Gryphon, who had now become a Rank 6 Monster.

Because of this, it complained repeatedly to Leone, calling him unfair because he was showing favoritism.

The silly Raptor Sovereign got beaten black and blue. Yet, instead of reflecting on its own actions for challenging someone stronger than it, Boris decided to file a complaint for bullying instead!

It had acquired the skill of shamelessness from its young chieftain!

In the end, Leone had no choice but to agree, which made the Raptor Sovereign very pleased.

However, Leone said that he would only start with Boris’ mutation after the other tribes had already left Grimjaw Mountain.

At first, Boris complained, unwilling to wait that long.

"Boris, listen to me," Leone said to it back then. "I don’t want the other tribes to see how powerful you will become after your mutation. You are our tribe’s secret weapon, so we must keep your evolution a secret!"

After hearing what the young man had to say, the Raptor Sovereign reluctantly agreed because it was called a ’secret weapon.’ And only the strong could become a secret weapon!

A few minutes later, Leone finally left the bath and dried himself up.

At that exact moment, he heard a knock on the door. Lol

"Leone, it’s me," Yuni said.

"Come in," Leone answered.

The young lady opened the door, only to see the young man still drying his hair. With that, she closed the door behind her and made sure to lock it before walking towards him.

The young lady then took a hand towel from the closet before helping dry the young man’s hair.

She then helped Leone put on his clothes, which had now become a normal thing for the two of them.

Leone no longer felt embarrassed or blushed even if Yuni saw his naked body.

After all, when the two of them slept together at night, no clothes kept their bodies apart.

This quiet intimacy brought them closer than ever before.

Even though they had yet to take the final step in their relationship, neither Leone nor Yuni felt the need to rush.

They wanted that moment to happen naturally, when the time was right.

For now, simply being together like this was enough.
