My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 355: Fortunately We Have Him

"Is that really what he said?" Augustus Vi Britannia, the King of Britannia, asked calmly.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Edmund replied while kneeling in front of his King. "That is his condition."

Augustus should have retired long ago as King, but in his eyes, none of his heirs were worthy to inherit the throne.

He feared that if he gave them his crown, the kingdom that had stood for hundreds of years would crumble in less than a decade.

The Eldest Prince was a womanizer.

The Second Prince was a degenerate who liked to torture people while having his way with them.

And the Third Prince was a warrior who only wished for war. He was the typical all-muscle, no-brains kind of fellow. Of course, the King knew that letting him take the throne would be a very big mistake as well.

This left only the Fourth Prince... his bastard son.

A child who was born when he forcefully had his way with a beautiful theatre actress whom he fancied a decade ago.

This son of his was only nine years old. But among his brothers, he was the smartest and most stable of them all.

It was quite unfortunate that he was a bastard child, which the nobility looked down upon.

King Augustus sighed internally before shifting his attention back to the kneeling minister in front of him.

"Agree to his condition," King Augustus replied. "Since we no longer have to worry about the Monster Stampede for a few more years, taking over the Borderlands should be done now. As for Eden... we can deal with it once the barbarians are defeated."

"Yes, Your Majesty!" Edmund bowed respectfully.

After his meeting with his King ended, Edmund immediately contacted High King Druvis, telling him that the King of Britannia had accepted his conditions.

"Excellent!" Druvis smiled. "I knew I could count on King Augustus to make the right decision."

"Then about the war..." Edmund looked back at King Druvis in question.

"I’ll give you a month to prepare," King Druvis declared. "A month later, we shall ride into battle. Since we will position our army near Eden, the barbarians will prioritize defending it. You should have no problems taking over the lands that have no defenders in the north, right?"

"Yes," Edmund answered. "We will march until we reach Eden, forcing the barbarians to face two armies at once."

King Druvis smirked in response. Despite the Aurelion Empire’s overwhelming might, they still suffered great losses during the war against the barbarians fifteen years ago.

The one who forced them all to retreat was none other than the Great Shaman, Gundar. His fighting prowess had surpassed their expectations. His existence was the sole reason why they hadn’t dared to mount another campaign against the barbarians.

However, their spies had told them that Gundar was no longer as young and as strong as he used to be.

Most importantly, the Kingdom of Britannia had also reached out to them for a joint attack on the Borderlands.

With their armies working together, King Druvis was confident that this time, they would win without fail!

Somewhere in the Grimhowl Tribe...

Gundar frowned as he looked at the bones that were scattered on the floor in front of him.

He was doing a bit of bone reading using Leone’s method to decipher them.

Yet, no matter how hard he tried, he simply couldn’t imitate the young man’s uncanny accuracy when it came to reading the message behind the bone patterns.

In the end, the great shaman was forced to revert to his own style of bone reading to see what the spirits were telling him.

"Strange..." Gundar rubbed his chin. "Why do these patterns look chaotic? It’s like... a beast has trampled the land without caring about the scope of destruction."

A frown appeared on his face. If this happened before the Monster Stampede took place, then Gundar would have understood the pattern.

Yet, the war just ended.

’Another war?’ Gundar’s frown deepened. ’But against whom? And what is the justification?’

The Tribal Gathering was right around the corner, so he was certain that no tribes were making any suspicious moves right now.

If anything, they were going to be busy with the meeting between the chieftains, as well as the tournament that would decide who would become the Regent of Eden for the next few years.

Suddenly, the shaman heard the flapping of wings outside his residence.

Gundar walked over to the balcony of his humble home, only to see a Pteranodon with a rider on its back.

The great shaman immediately recognized the insignia on the warrior’s clothes and understood that this warrior belonged to the Aslan Tribe.

"I greet the Great Shaman." The warrior bowed respectfully. "My Great Chieftain asked me to pass a letter directly to you, Lord Gundar."

"Thank you," Gundar replied before taking the letter.

He didn’t hesitate to open it then and there before reading its contents.

The frown he had earlier returned after reading the message that Leone had sent to him.

Then, as if waiting for that moment, a warrior from the Grimhowl Tribe appeared to look for Gundar.

"Great Shaman, Lord Hagen wishes to speak with you," the warrior stated. "He said that it’s very important."

Gundar nodded before shifting his attention back to the warrior of the Aslan Tribe.

"Tell Leone I have received his letter in good faith," Gundar said calmly. "Also, inform him that I shall visit in a week."

"Understood." The warrior bowed one more time before urging his Pteranodon mount to fly away.

They had already completed their mission, so it was now time for them to return to Grimjaw Mountain.

The moment the messenger left, Gundar headed to Hagen’s residence.

Even without asking the warrior from the Aslan Tribe, he knew that Leone must have already informed Hagen about the same news he had read in the letter.

The news was that urgent. Not to mention, it matched Gundar’s bone reading session.

’War...’ Gundar thought. ’It seems that blood will be spilled once more within our lands.’

However, the moment he remembered the young chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, Gundar wasn’t able to stop the smile that appeared on his face.

"Fortunately, we have him," Gundar muttered.

Although he didn’t want to admit it, having Leone around made the great shaman feel less anxious and worried about the attack coming from the north.

The Aurelion Empire was already a very difficult adversary to face.

So, if the Kingdom of Britannia were to also invade their lands, it would be very difficult for them to defend against their two powerful neighbors, which had been eyeing their territory for decades.
