My Kingdom Building Done Right!

After his talk with Daedalus, Leone could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Now that he knew one of the trump cards of the Britannian Army could be neutralized by their Guardian Beast, he didn’t need to worry about the aerial battles in the future.

The Pteranodons might be a match for the weaker Gryphons, but that was only true against Rank 3 opponents.

At the very least, Leone believed that each Gryphon of the Britannian Aerial Battalion would be a Rank 4 beast. A truly formidable combat force that controlled the battles in the sky.

In a head-on confrontation without Astravor’s help, Leone’s Aerial Team would lose hands down. There was simply no way they could win at this point in time.

The Aslan Tribe’s Air Force was just recently formed, after all. Compared to the Britannian Army, which had mastered the art of aerial warfare for decades, they were simply outmatched and outclassed.

However, if Astravor could suppress their Gryphons simply by being present, then one of the Britannian Army’s strongest forces could become their greatest weakness.

If the Aslan Tribe was lucky, they would even get free Gryphons out of it without needing to buy them from the Arcane Shop!

Truth be told, Leone was greatly disappointed that he still couldn’t purchase Gryphons from the store.

Upon checking the monster catalogue, he realized that these Gryphons were all Rank 4 monsters, which was a grade higher than the Pteranodons that they were using right now.

The young man even complained to Daedalus that these powerful monsters should be available for purchase. After all, Astravor was already part of their tribe!

However, the grimoire said that Leone could whine and throw a tantrum all he wanted. But if the requirements to unlock the Gryphon mounts were not cleared, nothing would change.

If they wanted Gryphon mounts, they should just capture a Gryphon first.

This would clear the requirement for unlocking the powerful beast, allowing Leone to purchase it directly from the store.

And when that time came, the Aslan Tribe would suddenly get a massive upgrade in their fighting prowess.

This would make the Aslan Tribe as strong as the strongest tribe in the Borderlands, the Warclaw Tribe.

That was because the Warclaw Tribe’s Guardian Beasts were none other than Thunder Rocs.

They were giant eagles that were bigger than houses, which also had the ability to control thunder and lightning to do their bidding.

According to Daedalus, Godwin and his family had the bloodline of Thunder Rocs inside their bodies.

This allowed them to grow wings behind their back. And although their lightning bolts were weaker than Blitz’s lightning bolts, they could still use them in battle with great proficiency.

Though this ability wasn’t exclusive to Godwin’s bloodline alone.

The elite warriors of the Warclaw Tribe were also bestowed this powerful bloodline through a special ceremony.

And according to Tianna, the representative of the Warclaw Tribe, who would be fighting in the tournament in the Tribal Gathering, had just gone through this special ceremony that made him stronger than ever.

Right now, Leone wasn’t even thinking about the upcoming tournament. If anything, he was more worried about the Britannian Army he would have to fend off on his own.

Though his role wasn’t to defeat them in battle, but to delay their advance.

If possible, he wanted to intimidate them enough to force them to retreat.

And there was only one way to make that possible.

He needed to make sure that his surprise attack would be as devastating as possible, forcing the enemy to retreat to the safety of the Stoneguard Fortress.

After surveying the surroundings of the Stoneguard Fortress, Leone, Daedalus, and those who had accompanied them started to brainstorm a strategy.

The Aslan Tribe’s greatest strength was their fortress back at Grimjaw Mountain.

Behind the safety of their towering walls, they would be able to hold out against a siege.

Unfortunately, the Britannian Army could just ignore them and head straight to Eden to regroup with the Aurelion Empire’s army.

Since that was the case, Leone had no choice but to fight them out in the open.

Of course, doing so would put them at a great disadvantage.

"The only thing we can rely on at this point is guerrilla warfare," Leone said after listening to everyone’s opinion. "We need to train an elite force that can attack and retreat safely."

He had already planned to send Ulric, Kael, and Jason to accompany his body double in Eden for the Tribal Gathering.

Since they needed as many warriors as they could to defend against the Britannian Army who would invade them from the north, this delegation would only have fifty warriors as bodyguards.

In the original plan, Logan, Rasta, and Khan would be accompanying Leone to Eden. But now, only Khan would be going with the body double.

Instead, Logan and Rasta would follow Leone into battle against the Britannian Army as part of the elite team, who would perform guerrilla tactics.

Slowly but surely, a plan was starting to form as they continued their brainstorming session.

This elite team must be mobile, so everyone would need flying mounts.

Leone also planned to take all the shamans in the Aslan Tribe, as well as those from the Bonegnash Tribe, to help out in this operation.

However, their strategy would be to use the Fireshard Catapults, as well as Otto’s devastating long-range attacks, to strike fear into the Britannian Army’s ranks.

"This strategy is also good. With this, the Britannian Aerial Battalion has no choice but to chase us," Daedalus commented. "That is when we will strike back against them alongside Astravor. However, we can only use this strategy once.

"The moment they realize that Astravor alone renders their Aerial Battalion useless, they will no longer send them to battle. So, we must capture as many Gryphons as we can during that exchange. Once the enemy sees us riding their flying mounts, it will drastically lower their morale in battle."

Everyone agreed with Daedalus’ words, which was exactly what they needed to do.

Strike fast.

Strike hard.

And strike true.

The strategy was simple in theory.

Of course, carrying it out was an entirely different matter.

After all, the Britannian Army wasn’t composed of inexperienced soldiers who had never experienced war before.

No. they were battle-hardened soldiers.

They had fought countless battles against the tribes of the Borderlands, as well as the Radiant Empire and the Barbarian King of the West.

If Leone wanted to make them retreat, then he needed to make sure that the first clash was so devastating that they would question whether continuing their advance was worth the cost of the lives of their soldiers.

And last but not least, Leone also planned to use the Frontera Army that would be joining the battle to his advantage.

While they couldn’t betray the Kingdom of Britannia out in the open, they could definitely sabotage them from within!

Leone and his mother, Helen, had already conversed in detail about the strategy that they would use.

Andreas, Lugh, and Jeeves, who were forced to listen to their conversation, had no choice but to see Leone in a new light.

Lugh even laughed out loud after he was done, saying that Leone was more ruthless than he looked.

Andreas, on the other hand, stared at his no-good grandson, reassessing his value within the Helion Family.

The strategy that Leone had asked Lugh to do was already diabolical in nature.

He almost pitied the King of Britannia for making the wrong decision of exiling Leone to the Borderlands.

If he simply kept this troublemaker within the territory of the Frontera Viscounty, then their plan to invade the Borderlands might have succeeded.

But now?

Conquering the barbarian lands would be at least twice... no... ten times harder!

In the end, Andreas felt relieved that Leone was not the enemy of the Helion Family.

Otherwise, not only would he have stolen the treasure inside the Dragon’s Nest without batting an eye, he might have also schemed to bring down the Helion Family on top of that!

Fortunately, the grudges and misunderstandings had already been cleared up between him and his no-good grandson.
