My Life as an Awoken

Chapter 142: Classification

20 hours later, 6 spent sleeping, and 14 spent grinding experience, I got the second upgrade.

That brought the qubit count to 9 and it brought the computer level up to supercomputer. That is the equivalent of 512 supercomputers.

I had put some thought into where I should build a few of my data hubs. I need them to be in highly developed cities, preferably where crime is low.

I had my own ideas on where that might be, but I decided to Foolgle it just to be sure.

The list is:

Tokyo, Yamato

New York City, United Federation of Amerika

London, Albion

Paris, Francia

Seoul, Gojoseon

Hong Kong, Xia

Lion City, a city country

Los Angeles, United Federation of Amerika

Chicago, United Federation of Amerika

Zurich, Helvetia.

This is a list of 10, but I might end up excluding some of them, because the Federation’s top cities are also the cities with the most rioting right now. With the crime rate spiking, I don’t think building anything is a good idea right now.

Both Paris and London also have some rioting but it isn’t that bad.

I need to have confidence that the city won’t fall to ruin, before dropping over $100 million in computers, and even more in property.

...

A week later. Monday, March 2.

I spent a week locked in the computer warehouse. I was reading as much information as I could.

I was also creating categories based on generalizations.

Like most awakeners fell into one of 4 categories; Hero, Villain, Neutral, and Evil.

Hero: An awakener that goes out of his way to use his ability for good.

Villain: An awakener that uses their ability for their own benefit. Even at the cost of others’ lives.

Neutral: An awakener that either ignores their ability or refuses to use it. They help no one, but also don’t use it against anyone.

Evil: An awakener that goes on mass killing sprees. They seem to either lose their minds or gain some form of hysteria. They cannot be reasoned with.

Awakeners also have a few different affiliations; Solo, Gang, Clan, Noble, Merchant and Government.

Solo: They keep to themselves.

Gang: Awakeners that either take over preexisting gangs or start their own. The gangs are primarily comprised of non-awakeners. Just because they are classified as gangs doesn’t mean that they participate in criminal activity.

Clan: A group of awakeners that works towards a common goal. Usually clans are made of only awakeners.

Noble: A family that awakens together and starts their own organization.

Merchant: A family or corporation of non-awakeners that hire awakeners.

Government: Awakeners that are a part of the government, either a politician or a soldier.

These are the current types of factions, there may be some changes, but right now this is how it looks.

I feel like I have to mention that gangs can do good, like a neighborhood watch. But, they can also do bad things, like drugs and human trafficking.

The government has been focusing their efforts on densely populated areas and major cities. There have been numerous small towns that have been taken over by or outright slaughtered by Evil awakeners.

Evil awakeners don’t always kill immediately. Sometimes they will torture you or any other disgusting thing you could think of. They are harbingers of death, chaos, and pain.

The money also hit my bank account, which was a good thing since I used the last $15,000 on storage devices and more monitors.

I now had a total of 27 monitors. 9 in front of me, 9 to the right, and 9 to the left. Most of the monitors showed either awakeners using their powers or monsters attacking people.

The more I watched, the more I realized that, I’m fucked.

I might have this drone sitting next to me watching the door. But, it has what? 5 shots? If 6 people rush in, I’m dead.

Not to mention those that have powers. I have seen people deflect small caliber bullets with their skin, others have dodged bullets with other abilities.

Most people seem to have combat related powers. What am I supposed to do against someone that can control smoke and make illusions with them?

I can feel an oppressive weight pushing down on my chest. This is not looking good.

I have realized that most abilities fall into a few categories; Energy, Body, Mental / Soul, Unique.

Energy: Abilities that mainly utilize energy but have residual effects on the body. Like Tyrell’s fire ability. It allowed him to make and control fire, it also enhanced his body and gave him a certain degree of fire resistance.

Body: Abilities that mainly utilize the body or stamina but can have effects on your energy. For example, a person has the ability of super strength, but when exposed to fire it cloaks and protects them. I am currently still unsure what this means and how the ability and phenomenon correlate.

Mental / Soul: I am currently unsure which name to categorize as the actual abilities to have a correlation to both. Abilities that utilize mental strength to manifest.

Pyrokinesis, the ability to create and control fire with the mind. It is different from the fire energy ability as there is no enhancement to the body, but there does seem to be an increase in the heat and control of the fire ability.

Another example is the manifestation of a Dharma Idol. An apparition that comes out of the user’s body and can take physical form. The Idol’s can have a variety of abilities.

Both use a mental or soul energy to manifest, which is why I don’t currently know which to label this category as. It could be that they are the same thing or it could be 2 different energies residing in the skull.

After extended use the user grabs their head and makes a pained expression. Some even develop a nose bleed.

Unique: Abilities that exist outside of the other categories. An example is my ability. Some provisional ones are the ability to communicate with animals and the ability to summon things.

They might be a part of the mental and energy categories. I need more data to make a decision.
