I was a bit astonished, I kind of expected something similar. I thought she wanted me to work for her. Wait. She could still mean that.

Before I could ask a question Xue Qing spoke first, "Stop! I can see your brain turning trying to come up with an explanation. I’ll just tell you, ok?

First, I want to make it completely clear that I had nothing to do with your friend’s death or the burning of your house. The only thing I did was sit back and wait.

Because I knew they were going to cause problems with the factory, so I just waited until they did. Then I would be able to come in, save the day, and continue with my plan.

But, everything happened while I couldn’t get away or get in contact with you. While the Lunar Festival was going I was in seclusion with the rest of my family.

"Yeah. I figured as much, but why me? What’s so special about me?"

"It’s because you’re the best. The best option for me. You see, the company I created makes a billion dollars a year. I don’t use any of that on my living situation. That means that I am reinvesting all of it back into the company.

That means that I have spent billions making one of the strongest computers in the world and making the best information gathering machine in the world.

With all of the world’s information and the second strongest computer, I had it run a calculation on who the best partner in the world would be for me.

You were what it gave me.

Out of all of the people in the world you were the best option. Based on ability, personality, looks, and potential."

"Wait, what do you mean ability?"

"I mean your ability to upgrade technology."

"How did you know about that?"

"Like I said, the second best computer and all of the world’s information. You made all of your stock accounts in your name or in a company with your name. While everyone else was convinced you created a better AI, I was able to tell that there was more to it.

You bought a bunch of regular computers from WorstBuy, but your computational power skyrocketed over the course of a few hours. The spike was always at set increments too.

But, that could mean you only had power over computers. But, then you bought cars. You started filling them up less frequently and we could track your mileage with satellites.

Plus all of the solar panels. They were never going to be enough to power everything on their own. Yet somehow they always did.

Information is a powerful thing.

Honestly, the biggest problem I faced was trying to meet you. I couldn’t just fly out to meet you without my family being suspicious. I don’t have the real power to stand against them.

But, then, like fate. You came to me on your own and I was able to meet you. Plus with the consortium’s plan, I could swoop in and save the day."

"What do you mean you don’t have the real power to stand against them? I thought you said you could have brought them down with the information you had?"

"Sure, I would have been able to bring them down. But, by then things had already started to change. You should know, those that have combat abilities, will have an advantage in the new world. Both you and I don’t have combat abilities."

"Both? You have an ability?"

"You mean you couldn’t tell? If you had to guess, what would you think my ability is?"

"I don’t know? Mind control?"

"Thats pretty close. My ability is actually a beauty enhancement. I was always beautiful, but the ability enhanced it. It made it so that most people will listen to whatever I say. My original plan was to charm you, but you are one of the few that have a resistance.

Plus, I met you. I got to know you, and then I realized that all of the plans didn’t really matter. But, everything was already in motion, and I’m a person who knows what I want. I figured that the plan would still help with that.

Now we are just about full circle, back to talking about the factory. At this point the factory has to be sold for the workers to go back to work and the government to back off. But, that is easier said than done, I might still have to bring in a whole new work force to get things back on track.

The only thing you have to do is marry me.

Then we will sell each other’s company to one another, that avoids certain tax implications. Then because we would be married I could still manage and have access to my company and you would have access to yours.

What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is yours, right? This serves as a win-win situation.

Plus, I know that you are like me. We think in a similar way. You will want to start an information collection business right? I mean it looks like you’ve already started.

I also know that you look for the same thing in a relationship. You want a partner that is loyal, kind, and willing to build something together. Both of us don’t really know what love is, which is why we look for those other things.

More like business partners than lovers. But, that suits us better. Right?"

"Yeah, it’s true. But, I still want to try and find love."

"I do too. I’m saying that we should try and find it together. It won’t be found quickly, but maybe a year from now? Or maybe longer? But, isn’t it better to look with a similar person than all on your own?"

"I never knew you were such a romantic."

"Yeah... I’m not sure where that came from. The main point is that we need to save the factory and get going on producing weapons. Because the world is slowly falling into chaos and we need to carve out a place for ourselves quickly."

"Right, for a moment there I forgot the world was at the precipice."
