The one piece of good news is that my ability can overcome that gap. Because the one way to overcome combat abilities is technology.
If you can block or dodge bullets, what about artillery? If you can block that, what about a bomb?
So long as technology can advance, that gap will always be bridged.
To get back to all of the things that happened over this month. First we have to conclude the contract signing. We signed with all of the countries Xue Qing told the Albion Consortium as well as Terra Australis and its surrounding nations.
As for the Western side of the world we managed to sign all of them. On the two Amerikan continents we signed every country. Even the ones that had some conflicts.
The very last country to sign was the Federation. They were convinced that they could handle it on their own. But, when they discovered that most of the world had joined, they reluctantly joined as well.
Now the only places not signed up were most of Africa and the entire middle east.
Now if we back it up a little, back to when we were making our way through Europe. I met up with my family. I was able to get the scoop on their abilities.
Mom’s animal contract ability allowed her to make a contract with animals. Then when the animal got stronger she would get feedback, that would in turn make her stronger.
My uncle’s ability is a better version of physical enhancement. It allows him to enter a berserk state while maintaining his rationality.
My grandfather’s ability is the strongest by far. He has a nature ability, it lets him create and control plants. Not only that, it gives him a major boost to his physical abilities. He has also turned younger, or regressed in age.
He was in his upper 80s and looked great, he was still hiking in the mountains. Now he looks like he is in his 60s, which is like a normal person’s 40s. The only thing that gives away his age is his stark white full head of hair.
He is a former special forces leader so he has been getting back in shape and protecting the family.
I told them of my plans and asked if they were willing to follow me to Xia.
My grandmother wanted nothing more than to go back to the Federation, and back to her own home.
But, she also didn’t want to be alone or be the reason that the rest of the family couldn’t do what they wanted.
The second most obstinate one was my uncle, he still wanted to find a place in Spania.
My mom really wanted to live in a warm environment, so she was fine where she was.
Finally, my grandfather just said one word, "Whatever." He really just wanted to find a secure area. He didn’t care where that was.
So my family remained where they were.
I decided against telling them I was getting married. That would make me feel like I was forcing them to come along. My family likes to let each person make their own decisions even if it ends poorly for them.
We will offer advice and help, but won’t step forward unless absolutely necessary.
So, I was off, back to my journey to the east.
April 10, 2026.
It was a Friday when we finally arrived in Xia. We landed at a more secluded private airport.
Once we landed we quickly got into the fancy cars waiting for us and left. From there we went straight to the Bureau of Civil Affairs in Hong Kong. There we registered our marriage and got it notarized for international use.
Xue Qing had been doing a great job at using her connections to keep the Yamato Consortium from achieving their goal.
After handling that and the transfer documents for the RAM factory and information company. We left for the information company which was at a hidden location.
That location was on top of one of the mountains in Hong Kong, disguised as a transmitting tower. The transmission tower is a radio station or at least is disguised as one.
This allows us to send and receive massive amounts of data, way more than I had ever been able to before.
The winding roads up the mountain, the canopy concealing our assent into the misty clouds, it all worked to add an air of mystery to the company.
The mountain isn’t really high enough to be in the clouds but today there were some low lying ones in the area, which shrouded the peak in mist.
At the top I saw the heavy metal gates with razor wire topping the fence. Admittedly, the station looked old and a bit shabby.
While the station looked shabby, what I could see of the view, it was anything but. I could see the tops of massive residential skyscrapers, dark like the peaks of mountains on an ink painting, then disappearing below, into the mist.
The sun shining allowed the sparkles of the sea to shine through, giving definition to the coast and the surrounding reservoirs.
I was skeptical for a moment, but once we were through the gates the wall lifted up and we drove the entire car inside.
Inside was what looked like a storage room. The confusion lasted for only a moment as I felt the floor jerk and then start descending. We didn’t go very deep, but it was deep enough to cut off all signals to phones or anything else.
When we stopped descending, the car drove forward into an underground parking garage. The garage was filled with numerous cars exactly the same as the one we were riding.
Exiting the car Xue Qing looked at me and said with a cheeky grin, "Are you excited to see your new company?"
I replied, "I guess so. Are the employees going to be mad that they have a new boss?"
"They shouldn’t be. But, I can imagine the people in charge of managing the quantum computer might have some mixed emotions."
"Ha-, Yeah."
"Well, are you ready?"
After asking that, she didn’t wait for an answer. She opened the door to the mysterious company.
