With our plans thought out we got right into it.
I started by hacking into their cloud based security system. The parent company started as a search engine similar to Foolgle and has spread out into other sectors. One of which is cloud based storage for companies, including their own.
They have been storing all of their security logs and videos in their cloud system. Which means that once I hacked into it I had access to all of their data and information.
They have all of their security videos since late 2009 stored in their cloud. So, I should have all of the video I need to find that burner phone if it ever existed in this building.
I pulled up the video from when we had our meeting with him. I quickly fast forwarded through our meeting and clicked play once we were leaving.
My voice played through the speakers, "Mr. Li, don’t disappoint us."
After we left Mr. Li also got up calmly, left the conference room, and walked to his office. Once he was in the sanctity of his private area his attitude changed completely.
He grabbed a small sculpture off of his desk and threw it against the wall, smashing it into a thousand pieces.
He yelled, "Who the FUCK does he think he is!? I built this company from NOTHING! I worked harder than anyone! And he thinks he can just TAKE it all away from ME!?
NO!
That BASTARD who hasn’t worked hard even ONCE in his ENTIRE LIFE! The only reason I’m being forced out is because of those DAMN powers! I KNOW he has to be one as well.
Yeah, you know what I’ll do? I’ll tell them. Yeah, they will surely know how to get rid of him.
Wait. But that girl. I have seen her somewhere before, I’m sure of it. I know! She is one of them. But, why would she be? Oh! She is doing something behind their back. Yeah, that explains it. Then I definitely have to tell them.
HEHEHE. Yeah, I’ll tell them, and that will show them not to mess with me. Not to provoke someone as esteemed as me!"
In his mad ravings his clothes had become disheveled, his hair a wild tumble weed, his face as red as the afternoon sun, and the spit flying out of his mouth. He looked like a mental patient that had escaped.
During his rant he ran over to his desk and started rifling around a drawer until he pulled out an old flip phone.
Bingo, found the burner phone.
Although I feel like that doesn’t really matter anymore since he said that Xue Qing is one of "them". I think the context clues give away who he contacted. But I would still like to see what the conversation was.
I used the AI image recognition software to have the computer scan through the recordings to find all traces of the phone.
About a week and a half earlier one of his subordinates brought him the phone in a package. I was curious about the timing so I searched further back.
It seemed like in irregular intervals his subordinate would deliver a new flip phone. But if you connect the times with company decisions and market fluctuations, you start to see a pattern.
Every time he receives a phone there is a market shift or decision that makes him and or his company a lot of money.
Anyway after receiving the phone he would hold onto it for about a month, but the length of time varied, before then disposing of it.
I guess we were unlucky that he had a form of communication.
Back to tracking the phone. I followed the subordinate backwards to find out where he picked up the package from.
Much to my chagrin, he picked it up from the front desk. It was delivered to the front door by a delivery guy on a scooter. The scooter guy picked up the package from a park bench.
The package got left on the park bench by a granny that looked like she had just left it behind by mistake. Following the granny, she got the package from a tea shop.
If you look at the shop’s cameras you can only see the main service area and the back door. If you follow all of the workers you will find that one of them buys a flip phone from a mall kiosk.
Found it.
The phone was purchased by a Mr. Liu Feng. A youth working at the tea shop. If you look into his finances you will discover that he is spending way more than he makes. He recently bought a brand new car and lives in a nice apartment that he owns.
There’s no way he can afford to do that on a tea shop employee salary.
The granny also buys her grandson very expensive gifts that she otherwise couldn’t afford.
As for the delivery guy, he was just a delivery guy.
I then hacked into the tea shop’s computer to see if I could find anything else out. I had the AI scan the key logs and found that Liu Feng had formatted the phone on this computer. He wiped all of the previous data from the store and reformatted it to have only one number saved.
It seems that he has a much bigger part to play than any of the others in acquiring and moving the phone. But that isn’t something I need to worry about, he is just a small cog in a much larger machine.
The only thing I care about is that I have the phone number. Plus, if the same guy has done the work on all of the other phones I should be able to get those conversations as well.
Oh. Looking into it further, he seems to be a regular phone distributor. He has done this quite a few times. I wish I knew who he was handing the phones off to, but the tea shop only has a month’s worth of security footage.
Even then that’s a lot, most small shops only keep 3 to 7 days worth.
