My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World
Chapter 126: List & DecisionSelene’s attitude left Aurelius speechless.
Even so, recalling that he was the one who had hastily summoned her tonight, and that he indeed needed her help, he chose to restrain the urge to throw a Fireball at her face.
He sat opposite her.
Then, without any offering greeting, he went straight to the topic.
"I need you to use your connections to collect some information."
"There have been a lot of Awakeners gathering in the capital recently. I want you to find their purpose, as well as find me a list of the most powerful among them."
Although Aurelius had already received an answer from Anna, he wasn’t prepared to fully trust her just yet.
After all, he hadn’t known her for long, and their relationship was transactional at best.
On the other hand, even though Selene seemed unreliable and unruly, she was one of the few people Aurelius trusted—as long as she didn’t discover his true identity.
Originally, Aurelius believed that Selene would either ask for a reward first, or simply ask him to meet her in a few days, when she had communicated with the Blood Temple and gathered the relevant information.
But much to his surprise, Selene simply raised her eyebrows.
"Have you also learned about the events in the Imperial City?"
"I didn’t expect the news to have already reached Blood Sun City."
These words caught Aurelius off guard. It was clear that Selene already knew what he was talking about.
She gave him no chance to say anything.
"I heard that some kind of ancient ruin has been unearthed near the Imperial City, allowing entry only to Awakeners at Rank 2 and below."
"Rumors are that it’s related to the Lost Empire. That’s why so many people have flocked to the capital."
"As for the Awakeners gathered there... Hmmm..."
Selene hesitated briefly before reaching into her clothes and taking out a piece of paper.
After unfolding it, a long list of names was revealed from top to bottom.
"I was originally planning to participate in the ruin exploration as well. Unfortunately, the Blood Temple has recently recalled me because of my advancement. I have a mission to complete."
"As such, I won’t be free for the next month. Since that’s the case, I believe this will be of use to you."
As she spoke, she slid the paper toward Aurelius.
When he picked it up and looked through its contents, Aurelius found it was exactly what he had been looking for.
Many names. Some were familiar, while others he was hearing for the first time.
But just based on the ones he knew, he could guess the purpose of the list. It was his goal for coming here tonight.
Sure enough, Selene confirmed this.
"This is a list of the most prominent Awakeners and nobles summoned to the capital. You’re quite fortunate."
"If you had come a few days later, I would have likely thrown it away," she said half-jokingly and half-seriously.
Seeing Aurelius go through the list, Selene immediately guessed his intentions.
"If you’re going to participate in the exploration, you should be extremely careful. Pay attention to the first few people on the list."
She reached out, pointing at the names near the top.
"In particular, Marquis White’s son, Princess Diana, and Baron Heath’s adopted son are especially formidable. Not only in terms of background, but also strength."
Aurelius nodded.
He was quite surprised by the information she revealed.
Not only by the list itself, which would surely prove useful, but also by the information she had mentioned earlier.
Ancient Ruins. Rank 3 Awakeners and above were forbidden from entering.
Neither of these things had been mentioned by Anna.
Clearly, although Selene did not know anything about Class Upgrades, her grasp of the situation was better than the Priestess’s.
"Thank you," Aurelius said, nodding solemnly as he put the list away.
Selene waved her hand.
"There is no reason to mention these things. We are friends, after all."
"Friends are supposed to help each other at times like these, right?" she said.
Her gentle smile, the silver strands in her hair, and the moonlight falling across her cheeks made her particularly captivating. Even Aurelius took a second look at her.
A second later, however, her behavior took a sudden turn. She cracked her knuckles.
"I’ve spent the past few days familiarizing myself with my new strength."
"How about we have another fight to test our respective strength?" Selene said, a spark flashing through her dark eyes.
These words and the nearly palpable battle intent made Aurelius choke.
--
The information part of their meeting took only a few minutes from start to finish.
Yet the fight that followed lasted for nearly an hour.
As he returned to the Sol estate and his room, Aurelius let out a heavy breath.
Selene’s competitive spirit was too strong!
She was practically a battle freak!
Had it not been for him deliberately exhausting her Mana and rendering her unable to continue, she would have likely kept going for the entire night.
She wouldn’t rest until she had defeated him!
Even so, he had to admit it.
’Moon Assassins are quite powerful. Although she has just advanced, most Rank 2 Awakeners would struggle to defeat her.’
If Selene caught them off guard as an Assassin should, they would die in a single strike.
Aurelius was happy.
The more powerful Selene was, the better for him—provided that she was weaker than him.
Sitting down on his bed, he organized his thoughts.
After confirming that today’s actions had been prudent enough and nothing had gone wrong, he focused on the matters at hand.
With the Sol family’s invitation weighing on him and the Beta Version nearing its end, he could no longer afford to hesitate.
It was time to improve his strength once again!
This time, not merely in terms of Class Levels.
He intended to exhaust all the potential he had secretly accumulated!
Skill Points. Items. Everything that could be used to enhance his strength!
Aurelius’ mind stirred.
As he focused on one of the several grids at the edge of his vision, it shook violently before an item materialized in his hands.
A green glow flashed, illuminating his face.
