My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World

Aurelius had managed to accumulate 8 Skill Points so far.

These were enough to bring a single skill to great heights or improve several of them at once. It was hard to say which option was better.

Either way, the upgrade was bound to improve his strength by a lot.

Unfortunately, compared to the large number of skills in his possession, eight Skill Points seemed like little.

Just the skills provided by his Classes were already huge in number. The ones he had managed to copy using Arcane Insight were even more numerous.

Although some of them were useful, they all paled in comparison to the skills provided by his Classes, especially those of the Arcanist.

Save for a few, most of his opponents had been quite weak after all.

Likewise, Aurelius also ruled out improving auxiliary skills like Reforge and Teaching, as well as "ordinary" skills like Fireball.

One reason was that it was the most well-rounded skill and could work together with everything else in his arsenal. Improving physical strength could never go wrong.

Another, perhaps more important, reason, though, was what had happened the previous times he had upgraded it.

’I could already sense that this skill was different from the first few times I used Skill Points to improve it.’

’That feeling only became stronger last time. I could sense that a qualitative change would soon occur.’

Back then, Aurelius had refrained from upgrading it, unwilling to gamble on whether a single upgrade would truly bring about that change he wished for.

Now, however, he no longer had such concerns.

The Sol family’s matters weighed heavily on his mind.

In addition, with the Players destined to descend on Nova Roma soon, he could no longer afford to hesitate. He had to improve his strength!

Aurelius pondered briefly.

Then, he gritted his teeth and consumed 5 Skill Points to upgrade Awakener’s Physique.

Watching the Skill Points in the Player Panel decrease, Aurelius braced himself for the impact.

He believed that the warm current would soon arrive, strengthening every aspect of his physique.

The moment he clicked on the (+) button, what met him was not a warm current.

Instead, it was several notifications, accompanied by the soft chime of a bell.

It was the first time a mere skill upgrade had caused such an intense reaction.

The number of notifications flashing in Aurelius’ field of vision was no less than those that had appeared during his advancement to Rank 2.

The many prompts caused his pupils to shrink, as did their contents.

The evolution of Awakener’s Physique was something he had already expected and thus welcomed.

However, he had never expected that this skill would actually trigger Divine Intervention.

He had spent dozens of Skill Points before, upgrading several skills, all in the hopes of triggering this mysterious Talent.

Even so, he had only managed to trigger it once, giving Solar Manifestation an extra Wings form.

Ever since then, this Talent had remained silent.

Aurelius had never expected that it would show itself again at such an important moment.

A trace of excitement couldn’t help but rise in his heart.

At the same time, though, there was also some apprehension.

Triggering Divine Intervention did not necessarily mean that the resulting skill would be more powerful than the original.

There was always a chance that something would go wrong, and the skill triggering Divine Intervention would become weaker or even grow corrupted as a result.

For most skills, this would not have been an issue.

Aurelius could at most not use them, only losing a portion of his overall power.

But for a skill like Awakener’s Physique, which was closely related to his own body, a negative Divine Intervention could very well result in danger!

Becoming weaker and losing some Base Stats was nothing.

Thinking that there was a chance some strange mutation would occur, leaving him with countless tentacles, scales, or permanent wings, Aurelius couldn’t help but shudder.

It was the first time he felt that obtaining Divine Intervention was not good at all!

Unfortunately, he had no way to interfere with the evolution process.
