My System Is a Fallen God: I Level Up Endlessly
Chapter 32: Pure Swordsmanship, The Fallen GeneralSaile was going to give Ser Valen his peace.
Inside Saile’s mind, the ancient God remained completely silent. Naicul did not offer any battle advice. He did not mock the enemy or complain about Saile’s stance. He just watched through Saile’s brown eyes, feeling a heavy, crushing grief that weighed down on the boy’s own heart.
Saile understood perfectly. This was not a mindless monster to be slaughtered for easy EXP. This was a proud, loyal hero who had suffered for a thousand years in the dark.
"I will not use dirty tricks," Saile whispered out loud. His breath formed a thick cloud of white mist in the freezing air. "I will fight you as a warrior."
Saile deliberately pulled his EX-Rank dark mana back into his chest. He stopped funneling the dark purple lightning into the Calamity Fang. The pitch-black odachi stopped humming with corrupted magic. It returned to being a simple, incredibly heavy blade of cold iron.
He would not use his Phantom Step skill. He would not use Shadow Swap to teleport around the room. He would rely entirely on pure swordsmanship and his raw Level 36 physical stats.
Ser Valen raised his massive, rusted greatsword. The pale blue fire inside his
skull helmet flared brightly. The giant Undead Knight charged forward, his heavy
iron boots shaking the frosted stone floor with every single massive step.
The monster swung his greatsword in a brutal, sweeping horizontal slash. The heavy blade cut through the freezing air, leaving a thick trail of white ice magic completely behind it.
Saile did not run away. He stepped directly into the danger zone.
He dropped his weight low to the dirt floor, executing a smooth, fluid shoulder roll right under the massive, freezing blade. The ice magic grazed the top of his hair, but he popped back up to his feet instantly.
Saile gripped the hilt of the Calamity Fang tightly with both hands. He twisted his hips sharply and swung the heavy black sword upward with all his physical might.
Clang!
The two giant blades clashed violently. A loud, ringing sound echoed across the
massive cavern. Bright orange sparks flew wildly into the freezing air, melting the falling ice instantly. The sheer physical force of the collision sent a visible shockwave ripping through the quiet room.
Saile gritted his teeth. Ser Valen was incredibly strong. The Level 45 boss pushed down hard on the greatsword, trying to crush Saile directly into the icy dirt.
Saile shifted his boots, sliding his right foot smoothly backward. He angled the Calamity Fang slightly, letting Valen’s heavy greatsword slide harmlessly off the black iron. As the giant weapon hit the stone floor with a loud crash, Saile immediately countered.
He whipped his left leg around in a rapid, lightning-fast spin sweep. His boot slammed hard against the back of Valen’s rusted iron knee. The heavy armor dented inward with a loud crunch, but the giant knight did not fall over.
Valen yanked his greatsword out of the cracked floor and swung it upward in a fierce diagonal cut.
Saile pushed off the ground, backflipping gracefully out of the way. The sharp tip of the greatsword missed his chest by a tiny fraction of an inch. Saile landed smoothly, his boots sliding slightly against the slippery frost on the stones.
The Undead Knight did not stop moving. Valen raised his giant sword high above his head with both hands. The pale blue fire on the blade roared loudly. He brought the heavy weapon down with terrifying, absolute power, aiming to split Saile completely in half.
Saile saw the attack coming. He knew exactly what he needed to do.
He dashed aggressively to the left, sprinting directly toward the closest crumbling stone pillar. He planted his left boot firmly against the freezing rock. Using his Level 36 agility, Saile launched into a flawless, rapid wall-run. He ran three quick steps vertically up the side of the thick pillar, completely avoiding the crushing downward strike.
Boom!
Valen’s greatsword smashed brutally into the dirt floor. The ground exploded. A massive crater formed instantly, throwing sharp rocks and thick gray dust high into the cold air.
While hanging high above the monster, Saile pushed hard off the stone pillar. He dived through the dusty, freezing air directly toward the giant knight.
He tucked his knees tight to his chest and twisted his entire body sharply. He chained his falling momentum perfectly into a devastating aerial twist kick. He spun like a drill through the air, generating incredible, raw physical power.
Smack!
Saile’s heavy boot slammed directly into the side of Valen’s corrupted steel chest plate. The physical impact was absolutely massive. A localized sonic boom cracked loudly in the quiet room. The sheer, overwhelming force of the Level 36 kick shattered the knight’s heavy, rusted armor completely. Thick pieces of corrupted steel broke off and flew wildly across the cavern.
The giant Undead Knight stumbled backward heavily. He lost his perfect balance for the very first time. His massive arms swung wide, pulling his greatsword completely out of position to guard himself.
Saile landed perfectly on his feet in the dust. He did not pause to admire his successful hit. His brown eyes scanned the fowering monster instantly.
With his heavy armor shattered and his sword pulled wide, Valen had a massive, glaring blind spot right under his left arm. It was the exact opening Saile needed to end the fight cleanly.
"Now," Saile whispered softly.
He gripped the Calamity Fang tightly with both hands. He planted his boots into the cracked stone floor and pushed forward with explosive speed. He closed the distance in a single, rapid heartbeat.
He did not swing the heavy odachi wildly. He leveled the pitch-black blade and stepped perfectly into the giant’s blind spot. With a final, incredibly respectful thrust, Saile drove the Calamity Fang straight through the open gap in the broken armor.
The dark iron pierced completely through the center of Valen’s chest.
The fierce battle stopped instantly.
The wind stopped howling. The ground stopped shaking. The entire underground tomb went perfectly, totally silent.
Saile stood completely still, holding the hilt of the sword. He looked up at the towering, ten-foot-tall monster.
Ser Valen dropped his heavy greatsword. The rusted weapon hit the icy floor with a dull, hollow clang. The pale blue fire burning wildly inside the knight’s skull helmet suddenly flickered. The angry, corrupted flames completely vanished.
The dark curse was finally broken.
A warm, gentle white light slowly filled the dark eye sockets of the iron helmet. Valen’s soul briefly cleared. The massive knight stopped fighting entirely. He slowly lowered his heavy head, looking down at the skinny teenage boy holding the black sword.
Valen did not look at Saile’s brown eyes. He looked much deeper. He looked straight into the boy’s soul.
Inside Saile’s mind, Naicul stepped forward out of the dark void. The ancient God looked quietly back through Saile’s eyes.
The giant, skeletal knight smiled. It was a warm, incredibly peaceful expression.
"My Lord," Ser Valen whispered. His voice was faint, dry, and full of deep, honest relief. "You have returned."
Naicul did not say a single word. He just watched his oldest, most loyal friend finally find peace.
The towering Undead Knight began to crumble. The rusted steel armor turned instantly into fine, gray ash. The thick white bones dissolved smoothly into glowing, beautiful specks of golden light.
The light did not fly around the room aggressively. It floated gently into the air, wrapping warmly around Saile’s body before fading completely into the cold night.
Saile pulled his sword back and stood quietly in the center of the dust. He felt a deep, heavy sadness settling firmly into his chest. It belonged entirely to Naicul.
"He is resting now," Saile thought gently, hoping to comfort the grieving God.
"Yes," Naicul replied softly. "Thank you, Saile."
Golden System screens popped up quietly in front of his eyes. They did not flash with aggressive, blinding light this time. They appeared slowly, respecting the quiet moment.
[Target Defeated: Cursed Undead Knight (Level 45).] [EX-Rank Talent: Endless Devourer Activated.] [Massive EXP Gained.]
A warm, comforting heat flooded Saile’s tired muscles. He did not level up this time, but he felt his raw power grow incredibly dense. He looked down at the empty floor where the giant knight had been standing.
Sitting quietly in the gray ash was a massive cache of highly rare, glowing metallic fragments. They shined with a faint, beautiful silver light.
[Loot Drop: Rare Weapon Fragment x10 acquired.]
Saile reached out his hand. He pictured the items vanishing, storing the massive loot drop safely inside his high-tier storage ring. The Calamity Fang desperately needed these fragments to repair itself and unlock its true power. Valen had left them a final, parting gift to aid them in their war against the false Saints.
Saile wiped a speck of dust from his face. He turned around slowly.
Back in the dark hallway, the five wealthy Academy elites were still sitting in the dirt. They stared at Saile with wide, completely terrified eyes. They had just watched a dirty, bleeding peasant defeat the final boss of their secret dungeon in a flawless, beautiful display of pure swordsmanship.
Saile did not smile. He rested his black sword on his shoulder and started walking slowly toward them. It was time to deal with the spoiled children of the Holy Church.
