My Taboo Harem!
Chapter 1176: The Small Heist & The Biggest Legacy HeistThe girl also took other jewelry and several bottles from the wine collection his grandmother had ordered the Hayashi staff to prepare for her family’s stay.
She had ignored the ordinary bottles and selected the rarest, most expensive ones with enough precision to make the theft feel curated.
Then there was the cash:
Phei had brought a considerable amount from Paradise and stored it in his walk-in closet, rolled into neat big twenty-thousand-dollar stacks for moments when physical currency offered more convenience and fewer records.
The thief removed roughly two hundred thousand dollars.
Phei had never needed the cash after arriving, so days passed without him noticing.
’That feels insulting.’
Someone entered his home, took two hundred thousand dollars and left him requiring a fairy’s assistance to discover he had been robbed. Wealth was beginning to damage his character.
He intended to reflect seriously upon that development later.
’Perhaps while buying another car or funding a private island activity nobody needs.’
The thief’s precision troubled him more than the loss.
She had avoided random glitter and selected the highest-value watches, rare wines, carefully chosen jewelry, portable cash and ceremonial gold pieces. She either possessed an excellent eye, remarkable information or a detailed understanding of exactly whose penthouse she had entered.
Then she chose Rhythm of the Longing Distant Hearts.
That choice stripped the humor from Phei’s thoughts.
Cash, watches and wine would attract any competent thief.
And book given to a boy by his dead mother carried little obvious value unless the person holding it understood something hidden inside it; it wasn’t even popular at all. The girl had recognized it, or someone had instructed her to take it.
’I need that book back.’
He needed the Patek too.
Everything else could be replaced. He had so much money, jewelry could be purchased again, wine could be restocked and gold utensils could resume their distinguished imperial career of moving meat between plates and mouths. He might even allow the little thief to keep some of what she had taken, provided she behaved sensibly and returned the two things carrying memories she had no right to sell.
When he voiced that hope, Eira laughed so hard she nearly dropped her lollipop into the sand.
Phei looked at her. "She will return them."
Eira wiped an imaginary tear from beneath one eye and fluttered closer to his shoulder. "You sound very optimistic, Master. It is almost sweet. Disturbing, but sweet."
"She will understand."
"And what happens if she already sold them?" Eira asked, studying his profile as the warmth faded from his expression like she already knew the thief already sold them already.
Phei’s smile returned slowly, pleasant enough to make the darkness beneath it more visible:
"Then she should begin preparing her place in hell."
Eira paused with the lollipop halfway to her mouth. "Because you intend to kill her?"
"Because if she cannot recover them, I am sending you ahead to reserve good seat in hell for her."

The resort had been built around water with the shameless extravagance of architects who considered dry pathways emotionally insufficient. Wide villas spread along a private shoreline beneath the deepening night, linked by pale stone bridges, shallow pools and gardens glowing beneath hidden lamps.
The pond curved at the edge of the property as a broad ribbon circular of water; it was like pool but natural and beautiful.
Phei stepped deeper into the pond, the water folding around his ankles before climbing his calves. Golden lights shone beneath the surface and turned every ripple into molten silk. Dark flowers floated between reflections of the first stars, brushing his legs whenever the current brought them close.
Laughter drifted from one of the distant villas, soft and tired after the long day.
Everyone else had already gone to their rooms. Even their stamina eventually encountered its limits after shopping, games, skating, beach battles, food, sex and several uninterrupted hours of Maddie.
Showers had begun across the villas, his women and princesses were changing into soft clothes, stealing snacks from one another and preparing to gather in the private cinema for one final movie before exhaustion finally claimed the entire royal migration.
The resort settled into evening around them. Warm light glowed behind glass walls, palm leaves stirred above the roofs and the sea breathed against the shore with patient darkness.
Phei moved through the water with both hands tucked inside the pockets of his loose black trousers, his shirt open at the throat and along part of his chest, allowing the cool night air to touch skin still warm from the day.
Anyone watching would have seen a young man in a peaceful pond after an extravagant afternoon with the people he loved.
That peace was real.
It simply had an expiration time.
Eira floated at his side with her tiny feet hovering above the water, watching him carefully while he studied the dark horizon. "Are you joining the movie?"
"I might," Phei replied. "Depends on what they choose."
"You have an emergency mission," Eira reminded him, placing both hands on her hips. The lollipop stick pointed accusingly from the corner of her mouth. "A real emergency, Master. Our mission did not pause because you bought half a mall and spent two hours educating Cassiopeia in a bathroom."
"I remember."
"We need to save Danny Maxton before his family removes him from existence and then gathers around his funeral pretending grief has always been one of their traditions and we also need to interfere with the Heavenchilds and Maxtons while they rob the most heavily wealthy treasury on this Earth and many realms around Earth."
Phei continued \\enjoying the water, giving her a lazy glance that encouraged her to keep talking even though she clearly believed she was scolding him.
Eira fluttered closer, lowering her voice as though the flowers might report them. "We need to steal the Coffer from the people stealing it, prevent the thieves from knowing who robbed them and keep the original owners unaware that their treasure changed hands twice in one night and somehow do all of that without alerting whatever ancestral nightmares who guard the Legacy Families."
Phei looked ahead again, his mouth curving faintly, Phei although had another plan about not letting the Legacies know they’d been robbed, her replied anyway: "When you explain it that way, it sounds complicated."
Eira stared at him, momentarily robbed of speech by the magnitude of his disrespect toward planning. "It is complicated."
"Then explain it differently."
Her cheeks puffed until she resembled an angry celestial fruit. "That will not change the number of things trying to kill you."
"It might improve morale."
Eira muttered several unkind words into her lollipop while Phei walked deeper through the golden water.
Beyond the peaceful shoreline, the Maxtons were preparing to erase Danny before he became a greater liability.
The Heavenchilds and Maxtons believed the night belonged to them.
They had summoned creatures from the Void, sacrificed World Transcendent elves, stolen keys from ancient houses and built a plan across decades. Every piece sat exactly where they wanted it, and confidence had already begun whispering that success was inevitable.
Phei found that adorable:
He stopped near the center of the pond, where the resort lights thinned and the reflected sky darkened around his legs. A breeze crossed the water and lifted the open edges of his shirt. Eira floated beside his shoulder, quiet now, sensing the subtle change in him as the smiling young man from the mall gave way to the Dragon preparing for the night.
Tonight, he would save Danny.
Then he would rob the men who believed they were robbing everyone else.
By morning, the Maxtons and Heavenchilds would learn a rule every thief should have understood before placing greedy hands near an ancient hoard.
A Dragon did not need to own the treasure before deciding who was allowed to leave with it.
