By the time he arrived at Class 1A, Mr. Morrison's class had already started, continuing on the topic of leveling up. Max took his seat and sank into deep thought.

Currently, all those individuals vying for the position of the next ruler of the Land of West must be in deep trouble following Max's enrollment in the prestigious Number One Academy.

Originally, they must have expected that Max would not attend the Academy, choosing instead to stay home and eventually inherit the title upon turning 18. That would have been the perfect time to exert pressure on him and obscure his rule. However, he had joined the Academy, rendering their previous plans useless. So they must have already started formulating a new plan to ruin his name here.

Max's previous plan had been to stay low and silently spread his good name. However, he now saw that such a plan would only subject him and his family to scrutiny. He would have to actively show off to allow people to see what he was capable of.

While that might attract more incidents like yesterday, causing him to be targeted even more, keeping silent would not place him in a good spot either. Therefore, he chose to take active action rather than remain silent.

"Now, I expect the assignment at the end of the week," Mr. Morrison announced, handing out a few assignments as the class was about to finish.

"One more announcement. The competition for the first-year Leaders will be conducted next week. If anyone wants to participate, please register your name. There will be three positions competed for by the first-years:"

1) Student Council Head

2) Disciplinary Committee Head

3) Diplomatic Affairs Head

"I want you all to consider participating in this competition. Class 1A must secure at least one position," the teacher stated before exiting the class.

Max, who had been in deep thought, snapped out of it upon hearing the announcement. Suddenly, an idea formed in his head. He could compete for one of these positions. It would definitely elevate his name and might to a different height, a height where people would definitely take notice. That would also show the people who were currently watching him, underestimating him as if he were an easy target.

This was especially true if he became the Diplomatic Affairs Head.

It was a position where he would have different opportunities to communicate with outside authorities or the heads of other academies. This was not a struggle for a short-term solution. This position would definitely help him even after he left the academy in three years.

With that thought, he decided to aim for the Diplomatic Affairs Head position. Currently, his name and achievements were a hot topic, encompassing both good and bad rumors. Compared to his bad reputation, his good reputation stood a step higher due to his individual and Party rankings, as well as the incident where he saved the girl poisoned by [Laigaran]. This undoubtedly placed him in a great position. Now, he had to utilize this popularity to achieve his goal.

Once the second class ended and the lunch break started, Max directly proceeded to the Administrative Office to register his name for the Diplomatic Affairs Head position.

Max felt he could definitely obtain a high number of votes and secure this position. This confidence directly stemmed from the Healer Class students. Due to his achievement regarding the cure for the [Laigaran] poison, he would definitely receive the votes from the Healers. Out of a total of 78 Healing students, he would definitely secure at least 70 votes. This was a massive amount.

Considering the number of students preparing to participate, most of the top 50 students would register their names for the competition. The competition would be severe. Thus, securing 70 guaranteed votes would be a huge advantage going forward.

When analyzing the competition, only the top 5 students might cause some issues, as they had already proven their worth. However, he had to observe which positions those top 5 students planned to contest.

If all the top 5 students were to select the [Student Council Head] position, then Max possessed a clear chance to win, because one person could only participate for a single position. Based on Max's knowledge, the Student Council Head and Disciplinary Committee Head possessed strong controlling and authoritative power inside the academy. Everyone wanted those positions to display their superiority. This situation would definitely result in an advantage for him.

After registering his name, Max proceeded to the canteen. He met with Moon and Anne, who were already seated at his regular table.

"You're late?" Moon asked. Her plate was already half-empty.

"Yeah, I went to the Administrative Office to register my name," Max said, sitting down and placing his plate on the table.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Both girls were shocked upon hearing Max's words. They were already aware of the announcement regarding the first-year Leaders competition. Moon and Max had discussed this matter yesterday. At that time, Max had given a somewhat uncertain answer. Now, seeing that he had already registered his name, they wondered what had caused him to act so decisively.

"Which position did you register for?" Anne asked.

"I will be competing for the [Diplomatic Affairs Head] position. I expect you will all support me by voting," Max stated, beginning to gather support from his friends.

"Diplomatic Affairs? That position possesses no authority inside the academy. Why would you want to compete for it? Why not the Student Council Head? Everyone wants to become the Student Council Head due to the authority that comes with it. Furthermore, the Diplomatic Affairs position involves a lot of work. You will be constantly called upon to handle diplomatic duties," Moon explained, emphasizing the importance of the Student Council Head position.

Upon hearing this, Max gained more confidence. He would definitely win this position of becoming Head of the Diplomatic Affairs. Since it was the least vied-for position, fewer famous students would participate.

"Do you think I have a chance if I were to compete for that position?" Max did not argue or explain his plans and the reasons why he needed the Diplomatic Affairs position. He simply asked the very obvious question.

"Well... That..." Moon fell into deep thought, considering all the other individuals who would participate for that position Max had very low possibilities of winning that position. "There will be severe competition. However, with your recent achievements, you have a good chance of becoming the Vice Head."

"I would rather become a less powerful department Head than take some secondary position." Max waved off the topic and continued to eat his lunch.

"Okay then, lets forget about that topic; we will definitely support you. I want to ask you about a more serious matter," Moon said, changing the subject.

"Ask away," Max replied, continuously chewing his food.

"Did you truly save a girl who was poisoned by [Laigaran]?" Moon asked.

"Yes, that is true. Didn't I explain everything in the morning? Hey wait a minute, Are you doubting my capabilities?" Max asked, shooting Moon a cross-eyed look to make her feel guilty.

"Max, do you hear yourself? Do you realize how absurd that statement is?" Moon asked in a serious tone, completely ignoring his look. "You do not know the severity of the incident. [Laigaran] is a High-grade poison. That grade directly indicates the casualty rate. It is highly unlikely that you saved the girl from the poison. Are you sure it was the [Laigaran] poison?"

She knew about Max and his capabilities; rumors had spread about him his entire life. She had believed those rumors as well, but she had changed her opinion after witnessing his skill at Archery. When the First Dungeon Expedition Rank arrived, it became blatantly clear to the world that those rumors were mere rumors.

Yet, despite having all the evidence to see for herself, she still could not make herself believe Max was capable of healing the [Laigaran] poison. Perhaps she still clung to those past rumors about him, not ready to accept him as a capable person.

Seeing Max become silent, she went silent as well. She somewhat knew how hard it was to be born into a noble's family. The expectations they received were overwhelming, almost suffocating.

Thinking about Max, how he was considered a below-average talent throughout the kingdom, and the pressure he must have faced, she could not even think about being in his position.

'I may have to read some books about poisons; I lack knowledge on the subject,' Max thought after hearing Moon's words.

Moon's tone indicated that someone being cured of the [Laigaran] poison was definitely a rare incident. This also showed how severe the situation was from a political standpoint. Someone had meticulously devised a plan to force him into a position that would be hard to escape. Somehow, he had come out of it. If this had happened two days before, he could not even imagine the impact it would have created for himself as well as his family.

Max suddenly stopped chewing his food as a lump stuck in his throat.

This incident seemed so simple to him now because he had the capabilities to tackle it. However, two days before, it would have been an irreversible issue.

Moon and Anne saw the sudden change in Max's demeanor. A pressure started emitting from his body. The students who sat at the nearby tables also felt this change, turning their heads toward him.

"Max," Moon called out to him.

"Oh, yes. I am capable of curing a person of a High-grade death poison," Max replied, snapping out of his thoughts. "I want you to spread this news about me among your friends and ask your classmates to vote for me in the upcoming first-year student leader competition."

Utilizing this opportunity, Max requested her to campaign for him.

"You could use this point in the campaign: Max is available at any time to aid with any of their issues. So, ask them to approach me without hesitation. I will help them," Max added.

“Oh, okay.” Moon was left dumbfounded by Max’s blatant boasting for his campaign. He had ignored all her questions and the sudden change in himself.

"I will try within my friend group. Regarding the class students, I am not sure," Moon stated. "I do not mix well with the others in my class. But I could do some campaigning for you in general." She did not possess much influence to secure votes for him, that too a person who considered a below-average talent until the day before.

"Not a problem. Every vote counts." Max felt happy that she at least agreed to ask among her friends and do some common campaigning.

"I can also ask a few friends of mine," Anne said. She also lacked the power to influence her class, as she herself was an outcast.

After finishing lunch, Max said goodbye to both girls. He planned to practice his Sword-class skill today. Therefore, he proceeded to his dorm room to retrieve his sword and training equipment.

However, before he could reach his dorm room, his path was suddenly blocked. Three guys wearing first-year uniforms stood in his way.

Did the girls already start the campaign? Max thought to himself upon seeing the students.

However, looking at their expressions, they did not seem very pleasant upon seeing him. Clearly, these people were here to make trouble.

"Hello, what's up?"

Max felt a little surprised by this blockade. Up until now, he had never been bothered by anyone, and this new situation left him feeling confused.

Could it be his rank from the dungeon expedition, the incident from yesterday, or his registered name for the leader competition that caused these people to stand here?

"Mr. Backdoor, when you see us, you should shut your mouth and wait for us to talk. Never utter a word in front of us." The tall, slim guy standing in the middle spoke, his face displaying contempt and disgust.

'Mr. Backdoor.' That was an ugly nickname.
