Chapter 419
Felix...
...Felix, without the last name, weaved between the Abberant’s relentless claw strikes.
Despite being a werewolf, he was careful not to reveal everything he was capable of on the battlefield.
Unlike Ray, who fought because the Abberants were his mortal enemies, and unlike the others who fought to protect humanity...
Felix fought simply because he felt like it.
He wasn’t here to protect humanity.
He had only come to find his favourite human author, only to be dragged into one ridiculous plot twist after another until he somehow ended up here.
So there was no need to reveal all of his cards.
To the Corps, he was just another weakling.
And a weakling he would remain.
...Just a much stronger one.
Sensing the flow of the battlefield, Felix tilted his head aside, narrowly avoiding a claw that had been aimed at him a heartbeat earlier.
The strike continued forward and cleaved a building clean in half.
Springing into the air, Felix slashed his claws through the empty sky several times.
Dozens of obsidian crescents shot forward in rapid succession.
The Abberant immediately crossed its arms in front of its face.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The slashes crashed into its forearms one after another without leaving any visible damage.
Felix wasn’t surprised.
He already knew his claw slashes weren’t powerful enough to seriously injure these rocky monsters.
Werewolves didn’t possess many flashy combat skills.
Although they possessed abilities somewhat similar to those of humans, they primarily relied on what their race excelled at.
Raw strength.
Blinding speed.
Those were their greatest weapons.
As for this battlefield...
Unless someone was in mortal danger, he had no intention of exposing more than necessary.
His ability...
The power to swap places with whatever he had marked.
Unfortunately, due to his current rank, he could only maintain a single mark at any given time.
Just one.
Just as the Abberant prepared to swing its arms away—
Fwish!
An arrow whistled through the air before embedding itself into the creature’s forearm.
A second later...
Beep!
BOOM!
The explosive arrow detonated violently.
Blue blood splattered into the air as chunks of rocky armour were blasted off the creature’s arm.
The Abberant roared furiously before snapping its head toward the source of the attack.
Standing atop a nearby rooftop was Chloe.
Another arrow was already nocked against her bowstring.
Thanks to the special quiver Ray had given her, along with the unique properties of her arrows, she was now contributing far more to the battle than ever before.
Without the slightest hesitation, she released another shot.
The arrow screamed through the air with astonishing speed.
The Abberant reacted immediately, leaping sideways as the projectile slammed into the ground instead.
At the same instant...
Felix exploded forward.
His right arm drew back as dark fur rapidly spread across it, long claws extending from his fingers.
Without slowing down...
He drove his fist forward.
BAM!
His punch crashed into the creature’s face like a speeding freight train.
The Abberant’s eyes widened in shock as its head snapped backward from the sheer impact.
Its entire body followed, hurtling into the structure behind it.
The building collapsed into a mountain of rubble.
Felix immediately dove after it.
Then Chloe’s voice suddenly rang through his comm device.
"Move! Now!"
Without questioning her, Felix threw himself sideways like a broken arrow.
Just in time.
A massive boulder, suspended by Chloe’s telekinetic ability, came crashing down onto the Abberant’s head.
BOOOOM!
The impact shook the ground violently, sending dust and shattered concrete erupting into the air.
Even so, the creature was still alive.
Blue blood streamed down its head in waves.
It raised both powerful arms, gripping the massive boulder as it prepared to throw it off.
But just then—
The previous arrow Chloe had fired, the one lodged deep in the ground beneath it, detonated.
BOOOOM!
The explosion was so violent that both of the creature’s legs were blown apart at the knees.
Felix landed lightly on the ground before immediately darting forward.
Grabbing the Abberant by one of its remaining legs, the werewolf’s muscles bulged tremendously.
Veins stood out across his arms as strain spread across his face.
Without hesitating, he heaved the colossal creature into the air.
Then—
BAM!
WHAM!
He slammed the Abberant into the ground with earth-shaking force before springing sideways at the last possible moment.
A tail from another Abberant crashed into the very creature he had been fighting.
The razor-sharp appendage tore clean through its abdomen.
Blue blood burst into the air.
Felix landed several metres away.
He wasn’t given even a second to breathe.
The newcomer immediately charged toward him like a raging bull.
A single stride was all it took for the towering Abberant to close the distance.
Its tail ripped through the air—
But Felix was already gone.
Instead...
A nearby vehicle took the hit.
BOOOOM!
The vehicle exploded into flames.
Whirling around like a spinning spear, the Abberant suddenly found Felix hovering before it with a confident smirk.
With a cannon-like boom, Felix launched himself forward like a missile, giving the creature no time to react.
Even the drones filming the battlefield failed to track the werewolf’s movement.
One instant...
The next—
The Abberant’s head separated cleanly from its shoulders.
Felix still didn’t slow down.
He landed on the side of a building, sprinted along its wall before kicking off toward another structure with the agility of a monkey.
His next target was already tearing through buildings, reducing one structure after another to rubble.
Meanwhile...
Chloe continued leaping from rooftop to rooftop, using her telekinetic ability to keep herself perfectly balanced.
Every few seconds, her eyes caught glimpses of the other members of their cohort.
None of them needed support.
None of them were acting as support.
They were all attackers.
Trisha remained as elegant as ever, cutting down Abberants with flawless swordsmanship while seamlessly weaving her ice ability into every strike.
Each movement was precise.
Each attack was deliberate.
Kai unleashed relentless barrages of crystal constructs, overwhelming one creature after another.
Caster, alongside his Dark Wolf, alternated between rescuing Aspirants on the brink of death and launching devastating counterattacks.
They were all incredible in their own ways.
Every single member of the cohort.
Then there was Ray.
As Chloe vaulted over another building, she caught sight of the Tribrid calmly bringing down yet another Abberant with a single precise strike aimed directly at its hidden heart.
...And to think he had been weaker than her when they first arrived at the Corps.
’I-I-I feel so use—!’
A loud creaking sound suddenly filled her ears.
Her eyes snapped downward.
The rooftop beneath her feet was collapsing inward.
Rising through the shattered concrete was the head of an Abberant.
Its enormous jaws were already wide open...
And she was running straight into its mouth.
