Chapter 430

A crackle.

Then came a loud snap in the air, followed by blue blood spraying outward as a small white sphere smashed into the creature’s leg.

Despite the injury to his thigh, Orvak didn’t care.

He simply drove his knee forward.

Jack was already gone.

He vanished as if he had teleported away.

Orvak’s knee smashed through the empty air with a thunderous bang.

Twirling around instantly, the creature swung his claws.

CLANG!

His claw intercepted Jack’s axe right in the middle of its swing.

The ground jittered beneath them with each passing second as their attacks collided.

Then—

A heartbeat later, the duo vanished from sight.

From there on out, it became nothing more than a battle of speed and mastery.

They danced across the battlefield, crossing metres in the blink of an eye.

The ground was ripped open with every passing second as chunks of earth were kicked into the air.

Plumes of dust and smoke filled the surrounding area.

Houses crumbled to the ground whenever missed attacks slammed into them.

The earth, the air, and even the world itself seemed to struggle to contain the power these two were unleashing.

They were forces to be reckoned with.

Gravity itself seemed incapable of holding them down any longer.

Jack’s axe cleaved through the earth as he hurled it upward toward Orvak, who was descending with an axe kick aimed directly at his head.

CLANG!

BOOM!

The axe failed to rip through the creature’s leg.

Instead, the weapon and the leg remained locked together in mid-air.

The ground trembled beneath the sheer force of the clash.

Then it became incapable of withstanding the pressure any longer.

It simply caved inward.

Seemingly unable to bear their combined weight.

Alas—

They were already gone.

They crossed an entire kilometre in the blink of an eye.

Jack pulled his robe off and hurled it forward, sending it flying toward the backward-moving Orvak.

The Abberant swung his claw and tore through the fabric.

Only to see a divine axe racing toward his head like a falling mallet.

Orvak immediately crossed his hands above his head, absorbing the impact of the strike head-on.

BOOOOM!

A thunderous shockwave blasted in every direction.

The ground cracked massively beneath Orvak’s legs as he struggled to remain upright.

Jack kept pressing down on his axe, pouring more force into the weapon as he attempted to cleave through the Abberant’s arms.

Orvak grinned at the man.

Then he swung his leg upward, aiming directly for Jack’s abdomen.

With a grunt, Jack attempted to leap backward and avoid the incoming kick.

Alas—

It was a feint.

Orvak vanished.

He materialized beside the man faster than Jack could react.

Then—

A roundhouse kick slammed into Jack’s body.

The Head of the Kyre family was sent ricocheting across the battlefield like a stone skipping across water.

With every bounce, cracks spiderwebbed across the ground beneath him.

Then—

BANG!

BOOOM!

His body smashed straight through a house.

Jack dug his axe into the ground, using the weapon to drag himself to a grinding halt.

Blood poured from his mouth and splattered onto the ground beneath him.

His eyes remained fixed ahead.

At the hole in the wall he had created.

He was inside the house now.

There was no sunlight around him.

Jack quickly sprang to his feet.

He was about to dash out of the house when—

BOOM!

Something crashed into the building from the side, sending heavy chunks of rubble flying through the air.

Jack spun around with his axe raised in front of him, but it did little against whatever had struck him.

Crimson sprayed from his mouth as his entire body was hurled backward like a bullet.

He smashed through a window and tumbled back out onto the street.

A tanker could be seen sliding out of the now-destroyed house.

"Kuh...."

Jack slammed his palm against the ground, using the friction to grind his body to a halt.

Only to see Orvak descending from above.

His legs were pointed downward, ready to smash Jack’s head into the ground.

In a blink, Jack vanished from view.

BANG!

The Abberant’s feet slammed into the earth, sinking deep into the ground and turning it into a ten-metre-deep hollow.

A thick blanket of dust immediately shrouded him from view.

Whooosh—! Whooosh—! Whooosh—!

Two dozen burning white crescent slashes tore through the cloud of dust, ripping through the area in an attempt to catch him.

But there was nothing.

The Abberant was gone.

"You look less glamorous."

Jack whirled around, his weapon descending toward the source of the voice.

But midway through the strike, he abruptly stopped.

His wrist twisted, redirecting the axe as he slashed sideways instead.

Orvak’s hand was already there.

It caught the axe before the blade could reach his face.

But although he had stopped the weapon, Orvak could feel the blade burning with intense heat.

And then—

Tchaaaak!

The blazing edge cleaved straight through his palm.

Orvak’s hand was severed.

Jack didn’t give him even a moment to think.

With lightning speed, he spun his axe around before hurling it upward from below.

A miniature white sun ignited across the blade, burning with tremendous heat as the weapon shot toward Orvak’s jaw.

BOOOOM!

The world detonated.

The sound barrier shattered into a million pieces as everything turned white for a split second.

The blinding light swallowed the entire area.

The earth beneath them was scorched so intensely that it began turning to glass.

Orvak’s body rocketed through the air like a piece of discarded clothing.

Half of his face had been torn away.

His palm was cleaved open.

Burn marks covered almost his entire body.

Yet despite the devastation, he looked more amazed than anything else.

Confusion and shock filled his expression as he stared at the dimming light surrounding Jack.

"Wow."

That was all Orvak could say before his entire body crashed through a building.

BOOOOM!

The structure shattered into a rain of rubble.

The debris collapsed over him, burying his body beneath the ruins.

"....."

Jack stood in place, breathing heavily.

His eyes remained fixed on the rubble where Orvak had disappeared.

He spun his axe a few times before planting it firmly into the ground beside him.

Blood dribbled down his temples.

Even his nose was bleeding.

"Is it—Is it...."

"That was impressive, I must say."

Jack’s head snapped upward.

Orvak was hovering several metres above him.

His expression was calm.

Too calm.

Jack’s eyes widened.

The damage covering Orvak’s body was disappearing.

His torn face was knitting itself back together.

His severed palm was regenerating.

Flesh reconstructed itself at an extraordinary pace until his body was once again completely whole.

"I guess it would be foolish of me to keep holding back."

Orvak pointed one finger at the human below.

"If you want to...."

His entire arm suddenly swelled.

The mass of flesh expanded rapidly before all of it rushed toward his fingertips with lightning speed.

".... Be my guest."

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Almost invisible projectiles shot forward at the speed of sound.

Jack’s eyes widened.

He immediately prepared to move.

"Huh?"

He blinked.

A strange wetness rolled down his side.

Then his thighs.

Then his shoulders.

Jack slowly looked down.

His expression changed.

Gaping holes had materialized across his side, thighs, and shoulders.

Blood poured from each wound.

His body lost its balance.

And Jack plummeted toward the earth.
