Chapter 434

BANG! BOOOM!

The sound of chaos continued to blare across the city, with every single Aspirant fighting for their lives against the invading foes.

"Haaaa... haaaa..."

"Man, when will this be over? I’m getting tired," Felix complained while crouching down.

Kai turned toward the Werewolf with a raised brow.

"How can you be a Werewolf and have such little stamina?"

Felix immediately shot upright.

"Who said Werewolves can’t get tired too? And for your information, I don’t mean that I’m tired physically. I’m just mentally exhausted. We’ve been fighting for how long now?"

"Yet there are still this many Abberants left?" Kai snickered as he pointed around them.

Trisha didn’t join in the banter. Her cold eyes continued scanning the battlefield, obviously searching for her next target.

"The point is, how many more do we still have? Hang on..." Felix muttered before tapping his ear.

"Uh, hi, Miss Mina. How many more Abberants are still on the field?"

"..."

"Yes, Aspirant Felix. There are approximately ninety-something Abberants left, with the Sergeant currently facing eighteen Two-Spined Abberants alone."

"...?!"

"See? And you want to complain?" Kai scoffed before pausing.

"Hang on... alone?!"

Trisha tightened her grip around her sword as she looked across the battlefield, mentally registering the number of Abberants still standing.

How were they supposed to finish off that many?

They were already getting tired.

Their boots were rapidly running out of gas.

They probably had five minutes of gas left.

Would it hold out?

Possibly not.

So what could they do?

It was obvious that the Sergeant would need their help soon enough.

Even if he was strong enough to handle Two-Spined Abberants alone, eighteen at once was simply too much.

"Sigh... I wonder how the other battlefield is holding up. I wonder when we’ll receive reinforcements. We’re losing way too many Aspirants, and today was supposed to be our graduation for fuck’s sake!" Kai frowned as he wiped his face with the back of his sleeve.

"..."

Chloe was still unleashing arrow after arrow from the building she was perched on.

She had about three minutes at best before she reached her limit with her ability.

Her fingers were already badly bruised from the constant pulling and releasing of arrows.

It was only a matter of time before they began bleeding.

Nobody knew how much longer they would last.

Or if they would even hold up against these monsters long enough.

How many more people would they lose today?

"I’ve made my choice. I’m going to go assist the Sergeant," Trisha finally voiced.

"What?! Are you cr—uh, never mind. It’s you, isn’t it? Sigh..."

Kai shook his head in sheer exhaustion.

At that moment, a wolf leaped high into the air before raining a flurry of claw strikes down on an Abberant.

As the creature became engaged with the beast, a boy slid between its legs, his short swords slashing across its ankles and forcing the creature down onto its knees.

Two strikes and a stab were enough to rip the heart from the creature’s ankle.

"I noticed something," the boy began speaking into his comm device as he rose to his feet.

He wiped the blood from his face while his wolf landed beside him.

"The skin is always softer around the area where the heart is located for some reason. Did anybody else notice this?"

Caster asked as he ruffled the fur on his wolf’s body.

"Oh, jeez! I didn’t know we were in a biology class instead of a war. I guess we should put all our attention on that kind of thing. If only the Abberants weren’t trying to claw our heads off."

Felix replied sarcastically, glaring at the Legacy.

"You seem bitter," Caster commented as he made his way forward.

"Oh, I am? I didn’t notice."

Felix scoffed, tapping the side of his face.

"Oh! Maybe I’m bitter because you were the first one to get enchanted by Nebula, which caused her to enchant me too, and I ended up attacking Ray. Tsk."

Caster stopped a metre away and raised a brow.

"...Are we missing something here? Because unless my memories have been tampered with again, I can clearly recall you being the one who started swooning over her the moment you laid eyes on her."

He paused.

"Which makes me wonder..."

The Legacy tilted his head with a frown.

"Are there a lack of girls in the Werewolf world? Or are Werewolves simply not into that sort of thing?"

Felix’s face turned cold.

His fangs slid out.

So did his claws.

Caster’s wolf immediately began growling upon sensing the Werewolf’s killing intent.

"I don’t know. Come to my world. Let’s go see if you’re right."

Kai sighed and shook his head in frustration.

"You both do realize we’re in the middle of a war, right? Stop this childishness already."

Caster waved his hand dismissively before turning away.

Without another word, he launched off the ground and landed smoothly on his wolf’s back.

"I have no interest in visiting your world. I would rather not add to the stress humanity is already facing."

He paused.

"Or if I were to visit, I suppose I could train your kind in the art of having proper manners. Tsk."

Awhooo!

The wolf howled before blitzing away from the others, leaving Felix grinding his teeth in anger.

"Anyway, I’m still—"

Shiiik!

The static sound of their comm devices suddenly rang loudly through the air.

"Guys, I’m going to go support the Sergeant against the Two-Spined Abberants. These One-Spines aren’t giving me any ex—uh...struggle, so I’ll leave them to you guys. And don’t die."

"And there goes the fool," Kai sighed, watching as Ray leaped from building to building with stunning agility.

"I have to back him up," Trisha added.

She was about to move when—

BOOM!

Two Abberants suddenly burst through the side of a building.

They charged toward the trio without hesitation.

Felix’s lips curled into a snarl as he shifted into a fighting stance.

"I guess you have no permission to."

The two Abberants rapidly closed the distance.
