Chapter 446
"Get ready to scream."
The air around Kaiser began bending beneath the sheer intensity of the energy gathering within its maw.
Sparks of light burned through the surrounding atmosphere as the glowing sphere continued swelling between its jaws.
The pressure alone seemed to make the air tremble.
BANG!
BOOOM!
Suddenly, the massive sphere of light tore forward like a bullet.
Orvak’s eyes widened in horror as he watched the attack speed toward him.
’Too fast.’
KA-BOOM!
The sphere slammed into the ground.
A blanket of dust vaulted into the air, swallowing everything in its vicinity.
With a powerful flap of its wings, Kaiser instantly dispersed the dust, revealing the aftermath of the attack.
The earth had been transformed into a massive canyon.
Buildings had been reduced to piles of rubble.
Plumes of dust continued hovering throughout the battlefield.
The corpses of Abberants caught within the attack had been reduced to ash.
Everything within a fifty-metre radius had been turned into ash, dirt, and destruction.
That was the destructive power of the Wyvern’s ability.
And Orvak?
The Six-Spined Abberant was nowhere to be seen.
Jack didn’t move.
He didn’t even twitch.
His eyes remained locked on the spot where the Six-Spined Abberant had been standing only moments ago.
Then—
Around a kilometre away, a figure suddenly appeared.
Orvak was perched atop a half-destroyed building.
His expression was stunned.
He had barely avoided certain death.
And even that had only been by the skin of his teeth.
Death had come dangerously close to consuming him.
He knew it.
Because before the attack connected, an overwhelming sense of dread had filled his entire body.
Something he had never experienced before.
And yet, here he was.
Alive.
Standing atop the ruined building with his heart racing and an unfamiliar emotion surging through him.
Was it fear?
Panic?
Or perhaps genuine excitement for the fight that was about to unfold?
He had no idea.
Maybe he would find out soon enough.
Because Jack instantly vanished from where he stood.
BOOM!
He crossed the kilometre-long distance in a jiffy.
In the blink of an eye, Jack appeared directly before Orvak, his axe already descending with crushing force.
Orvak’s eyes sharpened.
He immediately leaped from the building and took to the sky.
The half-destroyed structure completely shattered.
Not only from the force of Orvak’s leap—
But also from the sheer strength of Jack’s axe.
However, Orvak seemed to have made a mistake.
Because the next second—
Kaiser appeared directly behind him.
Its massive jaws were already wide open.
Another sphere of sunlight was forming within its maw.
The surrounding light bent and distorted around the attack.
Then—
BOOOOM!
A sonic boom erupted as the sphere tore forward with blistering speed.
Orvak’s instincts screamed.
He quickly dashed to the side.
The sphere passed dangerously close to his body before consuming the earth beneath him.
The ground exploded.
The moment Orvak’s feet touched the earth—
Jack was already there.
His axe came sweeping upward.
Orvak immediately swung his claws downward.
CLANG!
The axe collided with his claws.
The impact sent a violent tremor through the battlefield.
The ground beneath them shuddered once—
Then collapsed under their combined weight.
Jack and Orvak locked eyes.
Neither man backed down.
Then—
WHOOSH!
Kaiser flapped its colossal wings twice.
A dozen white-hot slashes tore forward with lightning speed.
Orvak’s eyes flickered toward the incoming attacks.
He took a step to the side, preparing to dodge.
But Jack’s form suddenly flickered.
He vanished from Orvak’s sight.
Then appeared directly above him.
His axe was already descending.
Orvak’s expression changed.
He had no other choice.
He raised both hands above his head.
WAM!
Jack’s weapon crashed into Orvak’s hands with the force of a freight train.
His knees buckled for a second.
The ground beneath his feet caved in from the impact.
And then—
TCHAAAK!
TCHAAAAK!
TCHAAAAK!
The white-hot slashes descended.
Since Orvak had been forced to block Jack’s axe strike, the attacks from his Wyvern were completely free to strike his exposed back.
And they did.
For a moment, Orvak’s hardened back was enough to resist the slashes.
But twelve crescent-shaped slashes were simply too much for even his hardened body to withstand.
Soon, three found their mark.
TCHAAAK!
Blue blood sprayed into the air as Orvak’s lips curled into a wide grin.
"Ah... this will be fun."
Strength coursed through his limbs, causing his back and body to straighten like bamboo.
With his entire force, Orvak threw the man off his body before whirling around.
Kaiser was already there.
The Wyvern was preparing another attack.
Orvak immediately pointed both hands forward.
His arms swelled for a moment as energy rushed down them and gathered within his palms.
BANG!
BANG!
Two spheres of obsidian energy roared outward.
The spheres seemed to consume the light around them as they hurtled toward Kaiser, who was still suspended in the air.
Seeing the attacks coming, the Wyvern immediately crossed its massive wings in front of its face.
Right in the nick of time.
KA-BOOM!
The two spheres detonated against its wings, unleashing a massive blast that forced the beast several inches backward through the air.
But before Orvak could capitalize on the opening, a steel axe came slicing through the air with such force that it seemed to cleave through the atmosphere like water.
The weapon was heading straight for his neck.
One clean strike would have cleaved his head open.
Only—
Orvak’s form flickered out of view.
BOOM!
Jack’s axe slammed into empty air.
But he didn’t let the miss slow him down.
He planted one foot firmly into the ground before spinning around, his axe already lifted above his head.
Right on time.
Orvak descended from above with an axe kick.
BAM!
His heel crashed into Jack’s raised axe with such tremendous momentum that the ground beneath the Big Four leader shattered.
The earth buckled beneath his feet, unable to hold him for much longer.
Jack pushed off with his second leg.
Orvak immediately slammed his foot into Jack’s face.
BAM!
The impact sent the Big Four leader flying backward like a piece of discarded clothing.
ROARRRRRRRR!
The moment Orvak’s feet touched the ground, Kaiser vanished from view.
In the next instant, the Wyvern reappeared directly before the Six-Spined Abberant.
Its enormous maw opened as wide as a canyon.
From the depths of its throat, a blinding sphere of sunlight condensed.
Orvak’s eyes widened.
There was no distance between them.
No room to dodge.
And then—
BOOOOOOM!
The blast erupted from Kaiser’s mouth at point-blank range, instantly consuming Orvak from head to toe.
His entire form became hazy within the overwhelming light.
The ground rumbled and shuddered violently beneath the attack.
Stones were pulverized into fine dust.
KA-BOOOOM!
A thunderous explosion rippled outward in every direction, consuming everything within twenty metres of the blast.
