Chapter 455
Back at the main Wall, the Vanguard were almost done cleaning up the Abberants that had been trying to attack the Wall.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Captain Ella and Captain Raze were with the Vanguard, they wouldn’t have been able to take down this many Abberants.
The battlefield around the Wall had been reduced to a scene of complete carnage.
Abberant corpses were sprawled across the ground, blood staining the earth while the remnants of their attacks had left several areas of the Wall damaged.
At the same time, the other group of Abberants outside the Wall that had been waiting for the Wall to fall so they could flood into Wall Steel and cause havoc had finally abandoned their plans.
The moment they saw their comrades being cut down like trees—and on seeing the Spine Reaper—they fled the place.
Returning back to inhabit Wall Rose again.
The Vanguard members were in awe.
They weren’t fighting anymore because only two Abberants were left, and it seemed as if the Skull Crusher and the Spine Reaper were in a competition of sorts to see who would take down the Abberant first.
"If it wasn’t for the fact that I was with them, I wouldn’t have guessed the fact that they had just been returning from a mission. Yet they expend this much energy? This is crazy."
Another Vanguard nodded as Raze swung his axe.
The weapon tore through the air with tremendous force before smashing through the spine of an Abberant.
TCHAAK!
The axe cleaved the thing open.
Simultaneously, Ella’s staff crashed into the head of another Abberant.
BOOM!
The impact smashed the whole thing.
A Vanguard member gulped.
"They do deserve their titles and ranks. They don’t even seem exhausted one bit and just keep going."
But the truth was slightly different.
’Sigh... My body aches. I hope the others have been able to completely take down the Abberants.’
Ella mused inwardly while wiping her temples with the back of her palm.
The exhaustion was beginning to settle into her body now that the fighting had slowed down.
She had been pushing herself continuously, barely allowing herself a moment to breathe.
Raze, however, stood to his full height after landing on the ground.
He stared at the scene of carnage they had all caused.
The bodies of about a hundred Abberants lay sprawled across the Wall, with some bodies leaning against the Wall itself.
A few bodies from the Vanguard members could also be seen too.
The sight was grim.
The Wall that had once been surrounded by an army of Abberants was now littered with their corpses.
"So... what ne—"
Ella’s words were interrupted.
Their comm devices suddenly screeched loudly, the sharp sound cutting through the battlefield.
The two Captains had blocked out their communications while fighting, which meant they were only hearing the panicked message now.
It was a voice-mail-type message from Mina.
"Captain Raze, I’m sending you a coordinate. Hurry there now. The Aspirants are facing off against a Five-Spined Abberant. We need your help. Jack Kyre is also battling a Six-Spined Abberant, so he can’t help."
Raze and Ella’s eyes stretched wide for a moment.
They exchanged glances with one another.
’Fuck.’
The situation was far worse than either of them had expected.
Raze immediately tapped his ear.
"Send it down now."
Within a moment, the hatch of the Aeroglide hovering in the air slid open.
Vroom! Vroom! Vroom!
The sound of a bike revving loudly was heard.
A hover bike was pushed down from the Aeroglide while Raze stared at it.
"I will go on ahead. Head over to the food factory and assist Captains Jake and Drey."
Raze ordered as he spun his axe a bit before placing it on his back.
Without wasting another second, the earth erupted beneath his feet.
BOOM!
Raze launched himself into the air.
Ella stared at him for several seconds.
Her heart raced with fear.
’A Five-Spined Abberant? Fuck. How didn’t we get the message on time? Why did we ha—’
"I know you want to come along," Raze uttered as he reached out and grabbed the handle of the descending bike.
His body continued rising through the air.
Kicking the air beneath him, his boots activated, launching him even higher until he landed smoothly onto the seat of the bike, which was descending with furious speed.
".... But I need you to help the two Captains and get them over there as fast as possible. Despite my reputation, I’m not strong enough for a Five-Spined Abberant... yet."
Vroom! Vroom! Vroom!
Raze revved the bike a few times while watching as it landed on a raised earth platform.
The hover bike hovered just above the ground, its engine roaring loudly.
Then—
VROOOOM!
Without any words whatsoever, the bike shot forward into the distance.
Hovering a metre above the ground, it zoomed into the distance with furious speed, Raze’s axe firmly stuck to his back.
Ella tightened her hands for a moment.
She stared after him as the bike rapidly disappeared into the distance.
Then she sighed and turned towards the shook Vanguard that had just heard what the Captain said.
A Five-Spined Abberant.
"Oi! Why are you all looking so pale for? You heard Raze. Come on, let’s leave for the food factory. Today, we show these blasted creatures our strength. They think that they can invade our home and we will let them?"
Lifting her staff into the air, Ella spun it once, sending a blast of wind rushing outward and knocking against the faces of the Vanguards.
The gust whipped through their clothes and hair, briefly snapping them out of the shock that had settled over them.
"...Come on, let’s go show them that we are not to be messed with."
Her speech seemed to ignite the fighting spirit of the men as they all cheered loudly.
The fear and uncertainty that had briefly gripped them were replaced by determination.
A Five-Spined Abberant was terrifying.
But so was the Vanguard Order.

In a guarded estate, a man who had been smirking a moment ago seemed to almost fall out of his chair from the tremendous shock of what was being displayed on his screen.
His expression had completely changed.
Even the woman lying lazily on the couch behind him shot to her feet like a bamboo.
The glass cup in her hand slipped from her fingers, crashing to the ground and shattering into countless pieces.
"What the fuck is that monster?! He-he-what the hell?!" Elsa pointed at the television displaying Bonny’s live broadcast.
Her finger trembled slightly as she stared at the monstrous figure standing before the Abberant.
Bryce’s heart palpitated on seeing Ray’s full transformation.
The smugness that had been on his face earlier had vanished completely.
"Th-The kid isn’t human. Wh-What the hell is he?!"
....
The whole world watching the live broadcast was silent for a minute as they all absorbed the image of Ray’s full transformation.
Nobody seemed to know what to say.
The creature standing before Silver was unlike anything they had ever seen before.
Even Johnny, handling his camera, found his hands trembling the more he stared at Ray.
He had spent the entire battle moving his camera around and capturing every angle possible, but even he seemed momentarily frozen by what was now standing before him.
Only Bonny didn’t have such an adverse reaction.
She was shocked and confused, but she maintained a professional look.
Her eyes remained fixed on the footage while her mind desperately tried to process what she was seeing.
The very next moment, the comment section exploded.
[Proud Hater: Blood of.... The freaking hell? What is he?!]
[Viewer 123: That’s not a human.]
[Daigeto; Of course we can see that, dumbass. He looks-looks like a beast.]
[Fenrir-StormSpear: What even is he? That’s unlike anything I have ever seen before.]
[Anime weeb; Fuck. He is a werewolf?! I have seen that form in an anime before. He’s a werewolf!]
Bonny read the last comment and a look of disbelief flashed across her face.
She stared at the comment before looking back at the footage on her tab.
Her eyes widened slightly.
’A werewolf? They-they are real?’
The thought itself sounded ridiculous.
Werewolves were supposed to be nothing more than mythical creatures from old stories.
Yet one was standing right before the Abberant.
[Jimmy_Parker: You sound like you haven’t left your mother’s basement in ages. The hell you mean that’s a werewolf? Aren’t those just mythical stories?]
[Anime weeb: And right before our eyes, you can see one standing before the Abberant. Who’s the fool now?]
[Proud Hater: If that’s a werewolf and they are real, aren’t we doomed?]
[Daigeto: Doomed in what sense?]
[Proud Hater; The Abberants came out of nowhere to attack humanity and if it wasn’t for the meta-humans, we would have all been wiped out. Now, there’s a race of alien...or mythical beings that’s just being revealed.]
[Fenrir-StormSpear: We don’t know if there’s a race of them yet.]
[Proud Hater; What if there is? With all I have seen that boy display today, I’m not going to risk my safety with a wave of what if and what if not. He’s a beast and could attack us all just like the Abberants. Wake up you all and see! That werewolf could become a threat just like the Abberants.]
[....]
The comments section was silent for a moment, as if everybody were considering what the Proud Hater was saying.
The words had planted a seed of doubt.
Looking back at Ray, who was panting with mist oozing from his nose and mouth in his monstrous form, his deadly claws extended and powerful fangs bared, humanity seemed to switch.
The creature they had been cheering for moments ago suddenly looked different in their eyes.
He wasn’t just a boy anymore.
He was something unknown.
Something that had never been revealed to humanity before.
[Goon lord: He is right. Proud Hater Is right. That kid is a monster.]
[Viewer 123: He is a beast and not a human. He needs to be taken care of unless we will all lose our lives.]
[Unknown viewer: I hope they tear themselves to shreds.]
Bonny read the comments with a hint of worry in her eyes.
Her gaze slowly shifted from the comment section back to the monstrous figure standing across from Silver.
The cheers.
The excitement.
The admiration.
They were beginning to disappear.
