Chapter 456
With a step to the side, the Abberant blurred towards the beast, his claws lashing forward and ready to smash it out of the air.
Like a bullet, Jack rushed forward, his axe speeding through the air.
CLANG!
His axe collided with the creature’s claws mid-air, causing a thunderous shockwave to blast in all directions.
The force of the collision rippled through the air, sending dust and loose debris flying away from the point of impact.
Parrying the claws away, Jack shot forward with a slice streaking towards the creature’s abdomen.
With a spin, Orvak avoided the weapon, which tore past him with blazing speed.
The axe missed his body by mere inches.
Striking the air with a resounding crack, Orvak lifted his leg above his head and sent it hurtling downward.
Only for Kaiser to flicker from his position and appear before the Abberant, his tail lashing out with lightning speed.
BANG!
Orvak’s tail intercepted Kaiser’s in a clamorous bang that caused the air to shudder around them tremendously.
The collision forced both tails apart, but neither combatant gave the other a moment to recover.
Jack took the opportunity and vaulted higher into the air, managing to dodge the descending axe kick before sending his weapon streaking downward with terrible speed.
Lifting a single hand upward, Orvak aimed to block the weapon.
Only for a bright cadence to illuminate the axe’s head, burning brightly with scorching force.
BOOOM—!
An explosion tore outward as Orvak’s lifted hand blocked the axe.
The burning axe head tore through the Abberant’s hand, cleaving his flesh as though the rocky armour protecting it wasn’t there at all.
Blue blood sprayed into the air from the wound.
Kaiser was also relentless.
Seeing that the Abberant’s flesh was about knitting back together, the beast darted forward with a blurry flurry of strikes.
Tail and wings sliced through the air with astonishing speed.
Gusts of wind were kicked up with every movement, violently disturbing the dust and debris surrounding them.
A tornado rippled around them with the force of Kaiser’s body movement.
For such a bulky beast, it moved with the lethal speed of a viper.
Orvak had a hard time blocking and defending against all the strikes with a single hand and a tail.
Parrying and deflecting the strikes with everything he had, Orvak suddenly appeared behind him with a punch infused with his sun sphere, shooting towards his back and ready to smash through.
All six spines on the Abberant’s back lit up instantly.
At the same time, the air behind his back was seen bending and warping with furious force.
Then came a resounding boom as an obsidian blast tore outward.
Jack barely blinked out of the way in time as the attack swallowed the world whole and created an abyss in the earth for as far as the eyes could see.
Smoke rose into the air, rolling across the devastated ground.
Even still, this didn’t mean that the Abberant relented in his battle with the beast before him.
They danced and flickered through the air with such speed that normal human eyes would have a hard time following them at all.
Their bodies repeatedly vanished and reappeared across the battlefield, each movement accompanied by the deafening sounds of collisions and attacks tearing through the air.
A tail flashed past the Abberant’s head, forcing the creature to duck.
Only for Jack to emerge before him with a sun-infused punch that sent the Abberant’s head snapping backward, blue blood splattering through the air.
Orvak was blasted a few dozen metres away with tremendous speed.
’Wha—?!’
Before the Abberant could regain his bearings, Kaiser’s form warped out of view with a sonic boom.
Materialising directly behind the Abberant, Kaiser’s maw opened incredibly wide, with a crackling sphere of white energy forming in the deep depths of his maw.
The energy continued gathering, its brilliance illuminating the inside of Kaiser’s mouth.
Feeling the deadly energy behind him, Orvak’s spines lit up with an increasing glow.
’Fuck. This shit uses up my blood and energy to be powered. I’m losing steam already.’
The Abberant mused inwardly with an annoyed growl.
BOOOM—! BOOOM—!
The sphere tore forward from Kaiser’s mouth while simultaneously, an obsidian void blast rippled from Orvak’s back.
Within a second,
White met Obsidian in a show of intense light and power.
The world froze in anticipation as the energies seemed to want to enter into each other, as if one wanted to absorb the other.
The two attacks collided in mid-air, their immense forces pushing against one another.
Then, they erupted.
A cataclysmic explosion and shockwave erupted across the world.
The shelter was instantly reduced to rubble.
The air screamed before breaking apart.
Canyons rippled across the earth beneath their bodies.
Smoke and dust rose into the air with furious gales, swallowing the battlefield in a haze of destruction.
Even with that, these combatants didn’t stop to breathe.
They didn’t stop to check if they were alive or not.
They simply moved once more.
Uncaring whether the world around them got destroyed, they kept striking.
Attacks led into counterattacks.
Counterattacks chained into seamless coordination, each exchange flowing into the next before erupting into destructive explosions.
They simply danced through the air as if the earth beneath them was too tainted to hold their forms.
As if the earth was too weak to contain them.
The three streaked through the heavens, parting clouds with their furious attacks.
These weren’t normal warriors.
They were forces to be reckoned with.
A punch from Jack, which Orvak dodged, led into a powerful kick from the Abberant that sent the man’s body blasting backward.
Before he could go too far, Kaiser appeared behind him, stopping the man’s body like a sturdy wall.
’This is bad. I-I-I’M growing weary? I can’t believe that I have been pushed this far by a single Big Four Legacy. This is humiliating, but if things don’t change soon, I will have to leave.’
Looking at Jack, who leapt into the air and landed on Kaiser’s back with his axe returning to his grasp, Orvak tightened his one remaining clawed hand.
’.... No. As long as the sun is still up and bright in the sky, Jack will keep getting empowered.’
Grinding his teeth with a furious light igniting in his eyes, Orvak shook his head.
’Yes. We get stronger the more injured we get, but the downside is that too many injuries could potentially kill us. And I have unleashed multiple Void Blasts, which use my blood and stamina. I-I can’t do this anymore.’
Jack tilted his head to the side with a small grin on his face.
"What happened? Thinking of a way to escape?"
Kaiser growled slightly.
Orvak sighed.
’I just hope that Silver did better than I have today.’
Then, with a sinister grin on his face, the Abberant lifted his one remaining hand into the air.
His spines glowed with a more furious light than ever before.
The stump where his other hand was began glowing too.
So did his tail.
"Escape? Hm..."
Jack’s gaze sharpened instantly as he stared at the glowing obsidian light shining all around Orvak, and then—
"Bye."
KA-BOOOOOM!
An obsidian orb as huge as the sun tore forward with tremendous speed.
Kaiser growled loudly, and Jack wasted no time in blinking out of the way while the beast was left with the blast.
’That wasn’t meant to kill...’
Blinking to appear where Orvak was, he could see the Abberant’s silhouette two dozen metres away, and it seemed to be running away.
Spinning his axe while Kaiser’s maw stretched incredibly wide with a crackling sphere glowing with furious light, Jack made his decision.
His gaze flickered to the sun that shone over them all.
Without hesitation, he bolted after the escaping Orvak with a sonic boom.
His form cut through the air with terrible speed, but even still, the Abberant seemed much faster.
Now, the destructive clash became a chase.
Will Orvak be caught and executed?
Or will he escape?
