Chapter 462

"Kuh.... Ugh...."

Thud!

Orvak dropped to one knee, his body trembling from the pain.

Blue blood poured from his face and various wounds across his body as he stared down at the metallic floor of the Mothership, which was zooming away at terrifying speed despite its massive size.

Silver sat on a chair, facing the Six-Spined Abberant before her with a neutral expression.

They were currently inside the control chamber of the Mothership.

They couldn’t let the other Abberants see them in their current condition.

"For fuck’s sake! How did you get beaten so badly?! You are a damned Six-Spined Abberant. How is the head of the Kyre family strong enough to put you in this condition?"

Orvak didn’t reply for a moment.

He wiped the blood from his mouth before sitting down on the bare ground, panting silently.

"I could say the same about you. You got beaten by a mythical creature? Crazy girl. At least for me, I can boast that I battled one of the strongest humans. But you...?"

Orvak tilted his head, staring at the cracks in Silver’s chitin armour as blood continued flowing from them.

"...Got beaten by a kid? A kid who is strangely a werewolf? Shocking."

Silver’s expression hardened.

"He didn’t beat me."

Orvak nodded mockingly.

"Tell that to HIM when we get back."

Silver turned her gaze towards one of the screens with a small frown on her face.

"Speaking of HIM, we are almost home. I wonder how he will take this news of failure."

Orvak heaved a heavy sigh and shook his head.

"Forget about HIM. Think about the others. They will surely mock us, especially that damned Colossus. He will gloat at us, especially since he successfully completed his own mission months ago while we failed."

Silver stood up from her seat and gazed at the screens with a frown.

"I won’t say that we totally failed, though."

Orvak lifted a brow.

"Oh yeah? Did we cripple humanity at all? We attacked precise locations to cripple them, but did we succeed? No, yeah?"

Silver folded her arms across her chest.

"That’s why I said, ’We didn’t totally.’"

A brief pause later, she added:

"We are home."

The massive Abberant Mothership could be seen moving towards a planet that orbited in the middle of a void.

From the outside, it looked like a burning red rock floating in the sky.

But it wasn’t.

The closer the Mothership got, the more the massive frame of the planet came into view.

It stretched as far as the eyes could see.

The Mothership descended and landed safely upon the planet.

.....

Tok. Tok.

BANG! BANG!

A knock echoed against an incredibly long and wide door.

From inside the room, thunderous cracks could be heard, as if somebody were punching the world apart.

On the third knock, the sounds quietened.

After a few seconds, the door slid open.

An eight-metre-tall Abberant stood behind it, wearing a pair of long brown pants.

His chest was rising and falling heavily as he stared at the towering Abberant before him.

Within a moment, the towering monstrosity knelt before the clothed Abberant.

"They are back."

Abruptly, his panting stopped.

The Abberant’s golden eyes flashed with a hint of excitement.

His seven spines lit up in unison, as if radiating the excitement coursing through him.

"Call the others to the meeting room. I want to hear the report those two brought back."

The towering Abberant bowed lower for a second before nodding.

"Sure thing, Yakz."

Without any hesitation, the Abberant stood and rushed away, leaving Yakz alone to stare into space for several seconds.

His hand slowly ran through his flowing golden hair, which stopped just shy of his nape.

Compared to the others, Yakz looked almost human for some reason.

The rocky armour that the Abberants wore—those jagged patches of stone covering their bodies—was far smoother across his own frame.

Instead, his body appeared to be coated in golden scales, resembling those of a crocodile.

His frame wasn’t bulky, nor was it particularly lean. It possessed a balanced build that somehow made him appear more imposing rather than less.

His hands ended in short nails.

The long, vicious claws that the other Abberants wielded were nowhere to be seen on his hands.

A tail ripped through the bottom of his pants, whipping from left to right for several seconds before eventually settling down.

His seven spines lined his back elegantly.

Starting from his upper back and extending down towards his tail, each spine was separated by a few inches, creating an almost deliberate pattern that radiated an unusual sense of elegance.

Everything about this Abberant was different.

The aura and demeanour he exuded belonged to a powerful leader who had barely tasted defeat in his entire existence.

Even his face, despite retaining the ape-like features common among the Abberants, appeared noticeably smoother.

Almost human.

The scales covering his face looked fresh and fair, giving him an appearance that was strangely refined for an Abberant.

With a quiet sigh, Yakz stepped out of the room.

The door slid shut behind him.

His heavy footsteps echoed through the corridor.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

He continued walking without saying a word, his expression unreadable as he disappeared deeper into the Mothership.

....

Twenty minutes later.

"You fucking did what?!"

The furious shout reverberated throughout the dimly lit room.

Five Abberants sat around a massive round table that appeared to have been carved directly from stone.

The atmosphere was tense.

At the head of the table sat Yakz, his chin lazily resting against his knuckles as he listened to the report.

His golden eyes remained fixed on Orvak and Silver.

Neither of them looked particularly comfortable.

The other two Abberants at the table were entirely different from the pair who had returned from the battlefield.

One possessed four spines.

The other possessed five.

The four-spined Abberant was grinning from ear to ear.

By Abberant standards, he was ridiculously short.

Barely one metre tall.

His frame was so lean that he almost looked like a walking pasta stick.

Yet his ridiculous appearance did nothing to hide the amusement dancing within his eyes.

His grin widened until it threatened to turn into outright laughter.

"You really retreated?"

He leaned forward slightly, practically savoring the humiliation.

"Those humans chased you back like it was nothing? Haha! Crazy."

Silver’s eyes narrowed.

She shot him a stern glare before turning her attention back towards Yakz.

The leader remained silent.

He hadn’t said a single word since the report began.

"Not just humans," Silver finally said.

Her voice was calm despite the irritation in her eyes.

"But something more."

The fifth Abberant slowly raised a brow.

Unlike the others, she possessed short black hair and an incredibly long tail that curled behind her body, almost like a serpent waiting to strike.

She stared at Silver for several seconds.

Then she scoffed.

"Excuses. That is what this is."

Orvak’s head snapped towards her.

"Oh, for goodness’ sake, shut your damned mouth, Splicer!"

His voice thundered across the room.

"Why the hell should we make excuses, you cunt?!"

"...."

The entire room went silent.

Splicer’s brows twitched.

"Cunt?"

Her voice dropped dangerously low.

The amusement had vanished from her face.

Her tail abruptly stopped moving behind her.

The tip of it twitched once.

Then again.

She slowly shifted her body, preparing to lunge across the table.

Orvak’s expression hardened as he glared back at her.

For a moment, it looked like the two were genuinely about to tear into each other.

But then—

"We were attacked by a werewolf."

"...."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Even Splicer froze.

The tension between her and Orvak vanished instantly as every gaze in the room shifted towards Silver.

Yakz’s golden eyes widened.

For the first time since the meeting began, his lazy posture disappeared.

His chin lifted from his knuckles.

He slowly sat upright.

A faint light flickered within his golden eyes.

"A werewolf?"

Silver nodded.

Yakz stared at her for several seconds.

Then his voice came quietly.

"I’m listening."
