Chapter 464

Tak. Tak. Tak. Clack. Clack.

Then the sound of something wooden hitting the ground was heard, followed by the sound of the door closing with a loud thud.

"...."

There were a few moments of silence as Ray didn’t lift his head at all.

Instead, he stared at the wooden legs of a chair a metre across from him.

"Aren’t you scared that this dangerous creature will rip your head off?" Ray uttered without as much as lifting his head.

Soon, the figure sat on the chair nonchalantly, and several more moments passed without the person saying a word.

"Well, this ain’t no different from the past three weeks. The only thing that’s different is that someone is with me in this silence." Ray muttered in an almost hoarse voice.

It was as if he had almost forgotten how to speak, and that was because he hadn’t used his body to speak at all for the past three weeks.

".... Sigh.... What do you want, Captain Raze?" Ray finally questioned as he lifted his head to stare at the Captain sitting in front of him.

The man edged forward with his hands interlocked in front of his face as he locked eyes with Ray.

Black eyes meeting grey.

Finally, he spoke.

"How are you?"

"...."

"Ahem... for starters, let’s see. I’m locked in a prison of sorts? Not sure about that. But I’m definitely a prisoner. For how long now?

"Don’t know how to calculate the passage of time because I haven’t seen a single light source for ages. I haven’t been given food nor water, which is definitely no way to treat a prisoner."

He looked down at his body before looking back at the man.

"And I have been chained and handcuffed here for so long that I’m sure my body would have gone limp by now. What’s the need to go these extra miles to keep me contained?"

Ray lifted a brow at the man.

"If I wanted to escape, I would have done so that day. And I kid you not when I say that none of you would have been able to catch me. Even now, I could still escape with all these chains, yet I choose not to."

"Why?" Raze asked without as much as a change in expression on his face.

"...."

"Why? Well, why should I escape when I have nothing to fear nor hide? I did nothing wrong and I—"

"Not that." Raze cut the boy off.

"Then?" Ray’s left brow lifted.

"Why is a Werewolf pretending to be human? For centuries, we thought Werewolves were just myths and didn’t exist. You could have remained hidden and not come to our world, so why? Why are you here? What’s your mission here?"

Ray was taken aback by the stupid question he was posed with.

"I’m not a Werewolf. I’m a fucking human!"

Raze frowned.

"A human doesn’t transform into a bloodthirsty creature, and definitely doesn’t look like something born out of a nightmare."

He paused for a moment before adding,

"... I would have even passed that off as a unique ability of sorts that we have never discovered, but from the reports I’m seeing, you can use another rare ability—you are a lightning Meta-Human."

Leaning forward some more, his aura beginning to leak out, he glared at the boy.

"And for as long as I can recall, no Meta-Human alive can use more than one ability. Not even the Big Four Legacies. So tell me, what do you seek in the human world? What’s your mission?!"

Ray was stunned as he stared at the Captain for several seconds, his mind going blank before his eyes slanted.

"Wall Rose... you need to check your records properly because I was one of the survivors the day Wall Rose fell. I have lived in Wall Rose since I was born, and I lost my mum and sister the day the Abberants attacked.

"If I was a Werewolf, I would have killed a lot of people that day, right? If I had a secret mission, I should have joined the Abberants to take care of all the humans there.

"So why the fuck was I almost killed in that invasion that day?! I lost my family because the Vanguard Order was too slow to make an appearance.

"I almost lost my life because of your incompetence!"

"—Is that why you struck a deal with the devil?"

"Fuck no! Like I said, I’m not a bloody Werewolf."

’And that’s because I’m a damned Tribrid!’

With a sigh, Raze stood up from the chair, a tired look crossing his face.

"Yes. I looked at the records, and all you said was correct. I also called for the people who boarded the train alongside you and your best friend the day Wall Rose fell."

Ray gulped silently, his heart beating with fear at what was about to be said.

"... Witnesses said that a rock crashed through the train that day. It looked alive and seemed to be searching for something until it laid eyes on you and tore through your skin, fusing itself with you and, in the process, burning your ability book to ashes.

"You were attacked by that force and knocked out cold. And afterwards, you joined the Aspirant Corps. Which means it was after that train incident that you became a Werewolf."

Ray squeezed his hands behind his back as he maintained a composed look.

"Yes. After that rock incident, I experienced changes in my body which fully revealed themselves during the Tier One Gate incident."

"Yet you kept it a secret from the Corps. Why?" Raze asked with a raised brow.

Ray snapped his head upward.

"Why? You really asking me ’Why’?" Ray pointed at his chained self with his head.

Raze nodded.

"Okay."

Then, with a sigh, he grabbed his chair and sat back down. He rubbed his temples for a second.

"Even if you were human before that incident, it doesn’t change the fact that you are a Werewolf. And from all the fantasy books and films I have seen, you are really dangerous. You feed on flesh to survive."

"You know, not all things seen in fantasies are real."

"Yet here you are."

Ray sighed and stared at the Captain for several seconds before looking away.

"Yeah? Well, what’s going to happen to me now?"

Raze’s eyes flashed for a second, a hint of coldness appearing within them.

"You will die."
