The clouds suddenly parted as the giant siege weapon was displayed below, its size easily dwarfing a four-story building, and that wasn’t all. The enormous railgun-like structure towered over the battlefield, its massive frame covered in glowing runes that continued pulsing with energy.

From this height, the weapon looked even more absurdly large, sitting behind the Eidolon army like some ancient machine of war.

Below, the human army collided with the Eidolon forces, and hundreds of Dormant Abilities flared to life. The battlefield was immediately filled with flashes of light, violent shockwaves, expanding flames, and strange abilities tearing through the snow.

The normal Eidolons were no longer able to dominate the humans with mastery over their abilities. The humans had already suffered catastrophic losses from the siege weapon, but the surviving Awakened were fighting with everything they had left.

The tide of the battle was surprisingly stable even as they were outnumbered almost three to one.

Ryan’s division had engaged the Eidolons from one side while Enzo’s forces attacked from the opposite direction, forcing the Eidolons to split their attention between the two groups. Neither human force was trying to push too deeply into the enemy formation. They attacked, keeping the Eidolons occupied without allowing themselves to become surrounded.

Enzo was proving to be particularly effective.

His four legs tore through the snow as he charged directly into the Eidolon’s, they were nothing but meat obstacles before his massive frame.

"Alright, time to drop," Daisy suddenly declared.

Malik and Camila were the most stunned.

"What do you mean, drop?"

Camila scratched her nose.

"I think she meant ’descend.’"

Daisy was astounded. She turned and shook her head in their direction.

"No, I know what I said."

Before they could speak again, the weightlessness carrying them suddenly freed their bodies.

All five of them began to plummet towards the ground.

Andrea and Yuri expected as much, so they remained relatively calm. They had already understood what Daisy meant when she explained her Dormant Ability. Neither of them had mistaken Light Feather for actual flight.

Malik and Camila, however, had clearly forgotten that small but extremely important detail.

They both immediately hugged each other as they spearheaded towards the ground.

Daisy looked back at them with a helpless expression.

She had warned them.

Her ability couldn’t actually make them fly. She could remove their weight and allow herself to remain suspended in the air, but that didn’t mean she could control their movements once she released them.

They were falling because that was exactly what she had intended.

Andrea remained calm as the battlefield grew larger beneath her. Yuri had already drawn her katana.

The wind tore through their clothes as they descended, the enormous siege weapon growing larger with every passing second.

Daisy positioned herself slightly ahead of them.

"Remember, don’t separate."

Malik and Camila were still holding onto each other.

"Are we supposed to do something?" Malik shouted.

Daisy looked back at him with a blank expression. "Try not to die!"

"That doesn’t help!".

Below them, the battle continued.

Enzo was an unstoppable war beast.

Everywhere he stampeded, he left death in his trail. His blade swept through the air with enough force to send cutting waves through the snow, forcing several Eidolons to leap aside before he crashed into another group.

Another Eidolon attempted to approach from behind, but one of Enzo’s rear legs kicked backwards with enough force to send the creature tumbling across the battlefield.

Enzo didn’t even look back. He continued forward, his four legs carrying him through the battlefield while his soldiers followed behind him.

On the opposite side, Ryan was doing the same thing in a completely different manner.

He didn’t need a weapon, his fists were enough.

Ryan drove his fist into the chest of an Eidolon, sending the creature flying backwards into several of its allies. He immediately stepped back rather than pursuing them, allowing the soldiers behind him to move forward and attack the scattered Eidolons.

"Don’t push too far!" Ryan shouted. "Keep the formation together!"

They weren’t trying to win the battle outright, they were buying time. Above them, Andrea watched the battlefield approach.

The siege weapon’s upper structure rose far above the surrounding Eidolons, and the glowing runes across its frame were becoming brighter as the distance disappeared.

Andrea’s eyes narrowed.

"Daisy."

"I know."

Daisy adjusted her position.

The five of them were descending directly towards the rear of the Eidolon formation. From their position in the sky, the massive army below looked almost endless, its countless bodies spread across the frozen wasteland between them and the enormous siege weapon.

The problem was pretty obvious.

There were hundreds of Eidolons between them and the weapon, and they were falling straight into them.

Daisy looked towards Andrea, her expression becoming slightly uncertain as she judged the distance between them and the ground.

"I’m going to activate the effects again, we don’t have to make direct contact anymore... I think."

"You think!" Malik and Camila yelled in unison.

Daisy winced. She couldn’t exactly blame them.

She had already explained the limitations of her Dormant Ability, but knowing that she could remove their weight was very different from knowing whether she could maintain that effect on several people while they were already falling through the sky.

The wind screamed around them as they continued their descent.

Their bodies were falling rapidly now, the battlefield becoming larger with every passing second. The distant figures of the Eidolons slowly became individual creatures, while the enormous siege weapon continued towering over everything behind them.

Below, the new Eidolon Priest noticed something strange.

The humans were attacking from both sides, but neither group was attempting to break through. Its goat-like eyes slowly moved across the battlefield.

The two human forces were deliberately maintaining their distance from the main Eidolon formation. They attacked whenever an opportunity presented itself, but whenever the Eidolons attempted to surround them, the humans immediately pulled back.

It was strange.

The new Priest didn’t understand the purpose behind it. Then it suddenly looked upward as its ears picked up on a low-pitched scream.

Its expression immediately changed, for a very brief moment, it simply stared towards the distant sky. Then it spotted several figures descending through the clouds.

The Priest’s eyes widened as it realized where they were heading.

It looked towards the Chief, but he was already walking towards the human army.

The Chief had no interest in whatever had caught the Priest’s attention. His focus was already on the humans approaching from the front, and the new Priest understood that he couldn’t waste time waiting for him to notice the threat.

So instead, he turned to the Divine Priest and snarled.

"You there, we need to defend the siege weapon. Come with me."

The Divine Priest’s head snapped in his direction, his expression nearly betrayed his anger.

He had just been given an order by someone who had only recently been elevated above him, and the humiliation was almost unbearable. But the Chief wasn’t that far ahead, and the Divine Priest had no intention of allowing his hatred to make him disobey an order in front of him.

He quickly plastered his face with an approving smile.

"Yes, Priest."

The two of them shot towards the back of the formation as fast as they could.

Their massive bodies tore through the snow as they moved away from the main battlefield, heading directly towards the siege weapon.

The Chief actually noticed their exit.

His eyes briefly shifted towards the two Eidolons disappearing into the distance.

He simply didn’t care enough to inquire, his attention returned to the humans before him. One of them had already separated from the formation.

Before him stood a young man, unlike the other humans, he wasn’t wearing any armor.

Instead, he wore a bloodstained hoodie, its fabric torn in several places from the battle. His hands hung loosely at his sides, and despite the countless Eidolons surrounding him, there was no visible fear in his expression.

It was Ryan of the Round Table. One of the strongest Dormant-ranked Awakened in the quest. A ruins of humanity.

"No... No, noooo!"

Camila screamed as her body shot towards the ground at an alarming speed. She immediately placed both hands over her head, instinctively bracing herself for the impact that was about to come.

The frozen ground rushed towards her, for a terrifying moment, Camila was certain she was about to die.

But the long-awaited collision never happened.

When she finally gathered enough courage to open her eyes, she found herself suspended in midair, only a few meters above the ground.

"Huh?"

Camila blinked several times, she slowly lowered her hands and looked around.

The others were already standing on the ground, having landed safely without suffering any injuries. Andrea and Yuri had immediately turned towards the approaching Eidolons, their attention focused on the creatures now charging towards them.

Daisy remained nearby, hovering just above the ground.

Camila stared blankly, there was only a short distance between her and the ground.

"Oh..."

Before she could say anything else, Daisy suddenly released her Dormant Ability.

Camila’s body immediately regained its weight and her face collided directly with the frozen ground.

Daisy looked down at her without saying anything.

Camila remained motionless for a moment, her face buried in the snow. Then she slowly lifted her head.

"I fucking hate you, Daisy".
