Old Blind Man in a Cultivation World

Chapter 19: The Young Master Who Bowed!

While Karn made his way over to the Village entrance, there was a heated discussion occurring at the doorstep of the village.

"An old blind man has defeated the Black Fang Bandits." One of the bodyguards said towards the carriage after a discussion with the Village elder that had greeted Karn.

"Impossible. That was a 1st tier warrior group." A voice inside the carriage responded in shock.

"They said he used no sword and he never opened his eyes. As if, they must be heavily exaggerating." The bodyguard scoffed with arrogance.

"It would be quite disappointing if we came all the way here to recruit that brute bandit and he is already dead." The voice in the carriage frustratingly spoke.

"Enough.."

"Village Elder, are you sure that what you say about this elderly cultivator is absolutely true?" Another voice from inside the carriage spoke authoritatively

"Yes, young master. What I said was reported by the scouts of the village who happened to see the battle between the savior and the bandits by accident." The Village elder spoke.

"...."

"Let’s wait... the man who beat the bandits is still present. If the rumors are true we should see if he is a good candidate to recruit." The authoritative voice sounded like an imperial decree.

"Yes, Young Master!" The voice in the carriage spoke with respect.

The bodyguard heard this and scoffed to himself, arrogance written on his face. He had been tasked to protect the carriage of the young master but he was not ecstatic about it. Instead he had felt even more dread.

The bodyguard had no desire to wait. In truth, he wished he had never been assigned this task.

The succession war was approaching.

The four young masters and their factions were already moving in the shadows. Every servant, elder, and disciple had to carefully choose their side.

Everyone attached to the young master would be buried alongside him if he lost.

This mission was supposed to be simple: escort the young master to recruit the bandit leader.

But now an unknown old monster had appeared.

The village elder stood by waiting for his aide to bring Karn over. He was somewhat anxious and worried about Karn. After all, it was Karn who had saved their village from the bandits while the Dragon Meteor Sect watched the Crane village suffer for many months.

The village elder then saw the elderly old man walking towards him and gave him a slight bow of respect from a distance.

"To what does this old body owe the pleasure of this esteemed guest’s unexpected visit? Koko!" Karn spoke loudly as the voice deeply penetrated into the carriage.

Karn walked outside the village gates, and saw the luxurious carriage that fashioned many dragons as decorations.

As he got closer to the carriage the bodyguard who had been observing the old man in front of him took a step closer to Karn as well with haughty arrogance.

’Weak! At most a 2nd tier martial warrior.’

"Stop right there, any closer and I will assume malicious intent from you old man." The bodyguard tried intimidating the Elderly blind man in front of him.

Instead of responding to the guards, Karn glanced at Rei and Shin.

"Stand there and keep a lookout for any unexpected trouble." Karn spoke to his disciples.

"Yes Master!" Both of them gave a bow.

’How should I complete my master’s task with this blindfold? If the master gives me a task he has faith in, that means I can do it.’ Shin instead of sulking around due to his blindfold instead concentrated fully on his other senses.

To walk and follow Karn he had used Rei’s instructions to keep up but now he had to do something that even Rei could not help him with.

Shin concentrated fully in his other senses while Rei watched the woods next to the carriage deep in thought.

’Why did master ask me to keep watch over the woods? That old fogey never says or does things out of nowhere.’ She knew her master liked to speak in double meanings. This was ever more true because they were his disciples.

The bodyguard of the carriage became stressed at the sight of the old man who had ignored him to talk to his disciples.

The bodyguard clenched his teeth. He hated this situation. Every unknown cultivator was a blade hanging above their heads. If this old man truly had malicious intent, hesitation would mean death.

"I told you not to get any closer!" The bodyguard shot his hand out to grab Karn’s arm before he could walk past him towards the carriage.

The hand that should have landed on Karn’s arm suddenly grabbed thin air almost as if a phantom had just appeared and disappeared.

"Koko, to think the mighty Dragon Meteor Sect resorts to such bullying tactics. How audacious!" Old man Karn spoke.

’How did I miss him?! The old man is standing right in front of me.’ The bodyguard thought, looking at the old man in front of him.

"Truly an unpleasant sight to almost have been touched by such filthy hands of yours! Does your young master hire dogs to bark before he speaks?" Karn mocked and turned towards the carriage.

"Filthy?" The bodyguard’s face burned, but he ignored the humiliation. His hand moved not because of anger, but because of fear.

If this old man was truly here to harm the Young Master, hesitation would mean death.

The bodyguard shot out and used his martial art that he had trained in since he became a disciple of the Dragon Meteor Sect.

The heels of the bodyguard qualitatively took a change, bright red flames blew up from under the bodyguards feet.

’Agility focused martial art then is it?’ Karn kept his body turned towards the carriage completely disregarding the bodyguard.

"STOP!!" Before the bodyguard could attack the old man the authoritative voice inside spoke.

Silence....

The flames burned bright and the power of the martial art did not decrease at all.

"I SAID...STOP!!!" The door of the carriage flung wide open.

A young man with deep dark eyes stood there. His disposition spoke volumes like an emperor who had lost his throne but not his flame. His name was Xiao Cheng, the fourth young master of the Dragon Meteor Sect.

"Tch!" The bodyguard scoffed and gave way to the young master who he was tasked to support. The flames under the man died down and bowed to the young master.

Xiao Cheng stood at the doorstep of the carriage slightly above ground and took a few steps to descend onto the earth. The young master stepped down from the carriage. His foot touched the ground first, but his body refused to follow naturally. A slight tremor passed through his leg before he steadied himself. He looked at Karn. The man who appeared before him seemed too simple.

Like a grandfather who would cross the world the moment he heard his grandchild call for him.

Yet deep in the recesses of the old man loomed a great desire for battle that no one would understand.

As Karn observed Xiao Cheng, the same was true for the young master.

"This junior greets Senior!" Xiao Cheng bowed first.

The villagers and the bodyguard froze upon seeing this sight.

The young master of the Dragon Meteor Sect was.....bowing first?!

Karn stroked his beard with interest.

"Koko, the young master of the Dragon Meteor Sect has manners? Either your grandpa raised you well.. or you are after something." Karn smiled.

"Would this senior believe me if I said both?" Xiao Cheng smiled in return but his eyes remained calm.
