"Would this senior believe me if I said both?" Xiao Cheng smiled in return but his eyes remained calm.
"Good brat, your honesty does not fall into deaf ears." Karn responded with a hearty smile.
Xiao Cheng looked towards his bodyguard.
"Let him pass... Senior, please come into the carriage for some tea. I would love to invite you to try our imperial fire Tea prepared by the Dragon Meteor top spirit tea master." Xiao Cheng invited Karn into the carriage for a conversation.
Karn followed the young man into the carriage that was most likely the most luxurious and spacious carriage he had seen in all his years.
As Karn walked into the carriage, he looked around the space inside was even bigger than what the carriage looked like from the outside.
Karn activated his God’s Eye skill to briefly confirm his suspicions. The Qi networks flowed from every corner of the room to the walls and the floor. This carriage had definitely been created by a master craftsman to make a bigger subspace.
The Young master walked over to what looked to be a man in his twenties with a sharp nose and wide glasses that did not look like they fit.
"This is my advisor, Li Xiang. I went through many troubles to acquire his expertise in matters that I am not very proficient in. I hope seniors can allow him to sit in during our discussion." Xiao Cheng spoke.
"This junior greets seniors!" Li Xiang bowed to Karn.
"Good to meet you as well advisor Li." Karn said casually as he stroked his beard in interest.
"I would ask the senior that you do not convey any information about our talk and the advisor to anybody after our discussion." Xiao Cheng spoke with a hint of killing intent.
"Keke, to invite me to your home and threaten me to be quiet on the matter is truly quite audacious...."
Karn said while leaking a bit of his Qi enhanced killing intent as well.
"..but alas this old man has no one to convey this affair to so I will honor your request"
Karn spoke as he erased his intent.
"Thank you senior!" Xiao Chen bowed in respect.
The exchange just now was a test of mutual respect.
"You seem to be injured?"
Karn spoke as he looked towards the young master limping form.
Xiao Chen gave a forced smile.
"I once happened to have offended the grand elder of the Frost moon Palace who destroyed my dantian. I have become cultivation less due to that incident."
Karn looked towards Xiao Cheng in interest. His God’s Eye skill saw something completely different than the explanation Xiao Cheng had given.
"For a cripple your muscles seem to be in good health." Karn spoke with a smile.
Xiao Cheng’s forced smile did not fade at this comment.. but his heartbeat had skipped a beat.
Li Xiang’s eyes widened for a moment before his composure returned.
"You must be mistaken senior, my cultivation that I had tirelessly worked on has truly been extinguished by that heinous grand elder."
Xiao Cheng spoke with a hint of coldness in his eyes.
Karn stroked his beard.
"Keke, I understand. I must have mistaken the young master." Karn gave a bow.
The glint in Xiao Chen’s eyes did not disappear. Instead, it had intensified.
"Li Xiang, please serve the prepared tea to the Senior." Xiao Cheng spoke.
"At once, young master." Li Xiang spoke and walked towards the tea storage compartment of the carriage.
"Senior, please have a seat."
"I will make myself home then, young master." Karn spoke as he sat down on a seat.
"Before the tea arrives, I would like the senior to tell me why your esteemed self has decided to wipe the black fang bandits completely?" Xiao Cheng inquisitively spoke.
"Some lass gave me a good deal to deal with the bandits and I obliged. Truthfully, I had no qualms with that group; it was just business. Those bandits turned out to be nastier than I had thought so I decided it to be a good opportunity as well to deal with some filth." Karn spoke as if it was obvious.
"I see, this event has certainly changed my plans. I wonder if Senior knows about the happening currently in the Dragon Meteor Sect." Xiao Cheng spoke as he carefully studied Karn and his expression.
Li Xiang brought the Imperial fire tea and sat down while listening to the conversation.
The fragrance of the tea brought peace to the mind and relief to the muscles who drank it.
Karn was quite the tea drinker before his transmigration and this tea reinvigorated his passion for the art of tea making.
’I need my own supply of this tea.’ Karn thought.
"Not at all, I am just a wanderer of the plains and have little knowledge of the political states. Please enlighten this old man." Karn truly did not have any idea of the inner politics of the Dragon Meteor Sect.
Xiao Cheng looked towards Li Xiang, their eyes met for only a heartbeat. No words were exchanged but an entire conversation had just taken place.
Suddenly...
"Senior what do you think is the difference between a commoner and a cultivator?" Xiao Cheng asked.
Karn thought for a second, gathering all of the information he had gained from God’s Eye and experience in combat.
"..." Xiao Cheng waited for the old man to respond.
"A commoner may possess a body. A cultivator possesses a cultivation path. Qi is merely the fuel." Karn replied with all of his understanding of cultivators.
"Indeed. The only thing separating cultivators from commoners is the ability to walk a cultivation path.... Does the presence of the path mean that you are better than me or deserve more than me Senior? Would the inequalities in the world not be significantly less without cultivators?" Xiao Cheng asked.
"Koko, even if the path was not present would there be not kings in the world young master? Would there not still be men stronger than others, capable of taking everything you own? There is no reason to focus on cultivators themselves as the inequalities are brought forth from Humanity itself not cultivators." Karn spoke with a sage like mentality.
"You mean to say...?!" Xiao Cheng exclaimed.
"Indeed, Qi isn’t what corrupts people. It merely gives ambition sharper teeth. If Qi disappeared, the strongest men would take over and rule like kings." Karn answered.
"...But without cultivators, kings may still exist. But no king can erase a city with one strike." Xiao Cheng retorted.
"And yet history remembers more tyrants wearing crowns than robes." Karn replied with a smile.
Xiao Cheng eyes became resolute.
"Then I shall become the king that proves history wrong."
"..."
Xiao Cheng seemed to be deep in thought.
Silence returned to the room for a moment until the young master broke it.
"I believe cultivators can become better people. True cultivation should temper one’s character as much as one’s strength. I do not expect everyone to change willingly, Senior. Those who refuse enlightenment will answer to those who have achieved it."
Karn did not respond instead he was deep in thought as well. He had only been in this world for less than a day. How would it be possible for him to understand the true nature of cultivators?
Xiao Cheng instead looked over to Li Xiang and the both of them nodded once again to each other.
"Would Senior consider joining me and help me become the next sect leader of the Dragon Meteor Sect?" Xiao Cheng made the offer.
"Currently, the present sect head of the Dragon Meteor Sect... my father is at the end of his lifespan. Since ancient times it has been decreed that once the Sect Head is dead the next Sect Head position will be filled by a succession war between the young masters of the Sect. I am one of the four and I will have enough power to grant any wish Senior has once I ascend to the position." Xiao Cheng’s intent flared out with ambition.
Xiao Cheng’s eyes had changed.
"If Senior joins me, I will end this era of needless conflict between us cultivators. Whether future generations preserve that peace... will no longer be in my hands. No more commoners will be at the mercy of us cultivators. I will correct the wrongs that we cultivators have brought upon the unfortunate!"
Xiao Cheng spoke like an imperial edict. The intent had affected Karn profoundly.
’This young man is truly extraordinary!’ Karn thought as he watched Xiao Cheng’s demeanor.
Li Xiang lowered his eyes.
He had heard those words hundreds of times but every time the young master spoke them, they sounded less like ambition and more like fate.
"That’s a good thought young master but what exactly do you hope to accomplish with a broken dantian?" Karn asked without any contempt.
Xiao Cheng kept his composure.
"Senior, that is for me to figure out!"
’Good. Had he begged me to solve his problems, it would have left a bad taste in my mouth.’ Karn thought to himself for a moment.
The room had gone quiet.
"I have four conditions." Karn broke the silence by holding up four fingers.
"Please name the four conditions senior!" Li Xiang the advisor spoke on behalf of the young master.
