’oho?’ A knife appeared through thin air in front of Karn. Karn grabbed the knife and inspected it closely. Determining it was a perfect curved knife just like the ones he had used in his old days.
"...Karambit."
He flipped it effortlessly like he had been done it before.
Suddenly his twenty year old self had come back.
Time which had been slowed down immensely started turning back to normal as he moved. Karn first made sure to protect his objective just like his military days and then deal with the enemy afterwards. Taking advantage of the slowed time around him he quickly got behind the young lady before the arm of the big brute could grab her and pulled her back. At the same time Karn had easily made a gash into the brute’s wrist with the karambit.
Time had turned back to normal by now and what was left was the arm of the brute that had grabbed thin air and the young lady who had been grabbed by Karn. Nobody was able to see the actions of the old man who had saved the young lady.
"Didn’t your grandpa teach you any manners? I know I certainly did" Karn said with a slight smile.
’Where did this old man come fro-!’ thought the burly man but before he could get his thoughts out his wrist started bleeding profusely. Panic was obvious in his expression.
’This old fogey must be a master, I didn’t notice him slash me. Wait, why are his eyes closed? Is he blind??’ The burly man knew he had messed with the wrong person, he was lucky his head had not been chopped off yet. His master had always told him if he ever met an old man or woman who was clearly a martial warrior to always show respect to them. Anybody who could grow old in the murim where most die young was definitely formidable. This was an unwritten rule that everybody agreed upon.
He was hiding the karambit behind his back which made him look like a master, the young woman that was dragged back by Karn made a sigh of relief. She knew she had messed with the wrong person this time, she would have probably died if it wasn’t for the old man that had appeared.
"Looks like you lost your fight, go away before I kill you." Karn said with an evil grin in his mind, if he acted with confidence the big guy would not realize that the old man in front of him was cultivation-less.
The brute hesitated, if this old man was truly blind how did he put this deep gash into his wrist? This was too mysterious for him so he decided to run. The last piece of advice his master had given him was to always run away from the unknown and he had no reason to doubt this old man’s abilities.
Karn breathed a sigh of relief, he may be blind but he was not blind to how blind people were treated. If he had not used the time dilation that occurred or made a gash on the brutes wrist he would not have caused him to run away. He did not know the difference between him and a 3rd tier martial warrior but the difference between an old man and a young brute was enough to dissuade him from trying to fight the brute.

Karn looked at the astonishment of the group around him. He hadn’t felt this proud of himself since he had gotten his medal of honor after the war.
But before he could enjoy the revering looks completely his body started heating up causing his body to become a bit more red than before. Along came an excruciating pain that came from the feeling of his bones tearing apart and rejoining themselves.
"OH GOD!! IT HURTS!" The old man in front of everybody that was mesmerizing and strong started burning and roaring like a mad man. This lasted for a few more seconds before he calmed down. Everybody there was dumbstruck for words. They had never seen such a senior like this before.
Karn had become a 3rd tier martial warrior and along with that rise in power came the excruciating pain. His skin had become less saggy, warmth could be found in his cheeks and his body exuded much more life than before. Karn could feel the newfound strength he had acquired.
’It truly is a miracle!’
Karn could never have imagined what turn and tribulations life had brought for him but this was definitely the best thing that had ever happened to him.
Everyone was still shocked at the events that had just transpired but decided to not mess with the old man considering the speed he had displayed against the brute.
If listened closely you could hear whispers of ’demon’ and ’immortal’ here and there.
The young lady that was saved earlier by Karn came up to him and asked him. "Are you okay?"
"Yes I am okay young lady but you shouldn’t be stealing from others like that." Karn said with a stern expression.
