"Young master It would do you good to keep watch on that Elder Gian. He is not as he seems..." Karn whispered briefly as they returned to the carriage.
Xiao Cheng’s expression did not change but internally he was quite shocked. His new friend seemed to know things even he the young master did not know about.
Li Xiang also briefly looked at Karn in awe before making his way inside the carriage.
The carriage resumed its travel towards the inner grounds of the sect. The buildings became more grandiose and the number of sect disciples outnumbered the people without.
As the carriage continued deeper into the sect, Karn remained silent, his fingers lightly tapping against his knee. The further they traveled, the more Karn could feel the difference.
The Qi in the air had become purer and denser. His God’s Eye resonated subconsciously with the Qi.
Faint currents of Qi flowed beneath the ground like enormous veins, converging toward the volcano at the center of the sect.
’Koko... this place is quite something.’ Karn smiled.
As the carriage passed, Karn noticed several disciples lower their heads respectfully outside the window. Others whispered among themselves. Most of them looked and scoffed in arrogance towards the carriage.
"Young Master, does everyone here hate you?"" Karn tilted his head.
"Not everyone." Xiao Cheng said while one of his eyes twitched.
"Most of them." Li Xiang said while coughing.
Xiao Cheng looked at his strategist in shock. How was his own strategist speaking ill about him like this? If he wasn’t so needed he would need to be hanged, Xiao Cheng thought to himself.
The carriage came to a stop in front of a building that had a massive board that read ’Administrative Hall’.
"As an honorary elder, you will be considered a member of the Dragon Meteor Sect. You will have access to the sect’s resources and be given a residence within the inner grounds..." Xiao Cheng paused.
"But you will also be expected to represent the sect when necessary." Hearing this Karn’s smile disappeared slightly.
"Represent?" Karn asked.
"You will not be required to teach disciples or manage sect affairs. Nor will you be dragged into the ordinary affairs of the elders. But if the sect faces a crisis..." Xiao Cheng slightly smiled.
"This old man is expected to help." Karn spoke for Xiao Cheng.
"Exactly."
Karn brushed his beard with his hand.
’Koko... so it’s basically free food and housing in exchange for occasionally beating someone up. A smile appeared on his face.
"Sounds reasonable." Karn spoke with a slight smile.
Hearing this Xiao Cheng sighed in relief. Xiao Cheng due to his destroyed dantian was seen as a waste and very few internal elders in the sect cared to be at his side. In fact, most wouldn’t even dare meet him in case their respective young masters took offense by the meeting. His biggest weakness currently was the lack of people with strength by his side.

Karn and Xiao Cheng together entered the Administrative pavilion of the Sect and went to the front counter where a young man with a dragon emblem on his robes was working behind the desk.
Seeing Xiao Cheng the young man quickly bowed in respect to Xiao Cheng in courtesy.
"Good evening, young master. How may I help you." The young man said in interest.
"I am here to register Senior Karn as an honorary elder." Xiao Cheng spoke.
"Senior... Karn?" The registrar’s hand stopped.
"Yes." Xiao Cheng nodded.
The registrar looked at the old blind man, then at Xiao Cheng. The young man had heard a rumor today that a blind elder had fought Zhao Long and even injured him. Now seeing such a figure in front of him reminded him of that rumor.
’Is this the same person?’ The young man thought.
"That’s him?" Two disciples working at the administrative building started whispering with each other as they saw this.
"The old blind man?" Another one said.
"He fought Zhao Long?"
"Impossible. Maybe Zhao Long wasn’t serious."
"You believe that?"
"Keep your voice down! That’s the Fourth Young Master’s new elder!" The whispers continued until Xiao Cheng glared coldly at the whispering duo.

Deep within the Dragon Meteor Sect.
An elderly man sat within a pavilion overlooking the volcano.
"Zhao Long lost?" The elder known as the White Dragon Lord spoke.
"Yes, Dragon Lord." The messenger lowered his head.
Silence.
The White Dragon Lord slowly placed his teacup down.
"And the person who defeated him?" He asked without emotion.
"An old blind man is how Zhao Long described the man." The messenger spoke.
"Name?" The Elderly man frowned.
"According to our informant he is the newest honorary elder of the fourth young master, Elder Karn." The messenger replied with sweat covering his forehead.
"To think that cripple was hiding such a trump card." The White Dragon Lord spoke amused. His intent flared out, the messenger felt as if his throat was about to be slit by a spear.
"Do you know what happened after the battle?" The Dragon Lord questioned.
"Zhao Long... withdrew." The messenger swallowed nervously.
"He withdrew?" The White Dragon Lord’s eyebrow raised.
"Yes, Dragon Lord. He admitted that Elder Karn had defeated him."
Silence filled the pavilion.
The White Dragon Lord suddenly laughed.
"HAHA, that proud demeanor of his. Tsk Tsk!" The killing intent surrounding the messenger vanished.
"Do not interfere with him." Upon hearing this the messenger looked up in surprise.
"If Zhao Long was truly defeated fairly, then I will respect his wishes. I doubt there are many who could deal with someone who could fight Zhao Long to such a degree."
The White Dragon Lord lifted his teacup.
"Besides..." His eyes narrowed toward the distant volcano.
"The succession war is about to begin. One more powerful elder joining the board changes nothing."
