Chapter 388: The Berserk Minotaur [2], Severed Limb

Fwoosh!

With a powerful leap, Leon emerged from the shadows and used the building’s fall as a launch pad, propelling himself toward the minotaur with incredible speed.

His sword shone with a crimson and white light as he reached the minotaur, the blade glowing with power from his blood heart blessing.

And though the massive monster noticed him and immediately covered itself in aura to defend... it stood no chance against the assault.

ECLIPSE SLASH!

Leon unleashed his strongest skill immediately, hundreds of slashes erupting all over the minotaur’s body in a fraction of a second, each one carving deep into its flesh.

Of course, it lifted its axe to try and tank the attacks, but alas, there were simply too many of them to block effectively with only one arm.

With both arms it would have definitely survived and immediately retaliated to kill the human, but with only one arm, it couldn’t keep up with the barrage.

But thanks to Orion’s earlier work, the minotaur was already weakened and vulnerable, making Leon’s job significantly easier.

’Thanks for doing the hard work, Orion,’ Leon thought internally with a wide grin on his face, ’We’re even now for that centipede kill.’

And so by the time Leon’s eclipse slash ended, the minotaur body was riddled with injuries, deep gashes covering its torso and limbs, blood pouring from countless wounds.

So much so it couldn’t even move anymore, simply groaning and looking down at the human beneath with fading fury in its crimson eyes.

Cataclysmic Fireball!

And Leon finished it by launching a massive fireball directly at its head, hitting it and scorching its body as it collapsed to the ground with a thunderous crash that shook the plaza.

Ding!

[You have defeated "Berserker Minotaur (Mana Monster Boss)"]

The minotaur’s body turned into many particles that all rushed toward Leon’s [Mana Storer], filling it with glowing energy that pulsed with power.

And with that final influx of mana, Leon’s total increased significantly, bringing him much closer to the top spot.

[Mana Points: 303]

"Holy shit, it was worth 100 Mana Points," Leon’s eyes widened with genuine surprise and excitement, "Which means... I need to quickly get to the others and claim them too before Orion does."

But more than anything, as soon as Leon eliminated that boss, a massive panel appeared in the sky above the ruined city, visible to everyone in the domain, announcing his achievement.

Ding!

["Celestial" has defeated the "Berserker Minotaur" in the "Ruined City"]

Then under that panel was a picture of Leon’s face, as well as his location on the domain’s map, revealing his position to everyone who was watching.

"Wow," Leon said, realizing the implications of this announcement and the target it painted on his back.

At least with that, Leon would know which bosses were defeated and which were not, giving him a strategic advantage over other players.

Tick! Tick!

[94 participants remain.]

Leon was immediately about to head out of the [Ruined City] toward the [Treacherous Mountains] to find the next berserker and claim its mana points.

But the moment he took a step forward, something stirred within him, a primal warning that made him stop in his tracks.

SLASH!

And Leon side-stepped right as Orion’s holy blade swung at where he had been a fraction of a second ago, the blade cutting through empty air and leaving a trail of light.

"Holy shit," Leon stumbled back, his heart racing from the close call, "You don’t mess around, do you?"

Orion’s expression was neutral now, he wasn’t laughing anymore, and he pointed his blade toward Leon with deadly intent, his eyes cold and calculating.

"Hm... I stole your kill, and then you stole mine," Orion mumbled to himself, "But the Mana Points are NOT the same at all, you got far more than I did from that."

"Too bad," Leon grinned, taking his stance, "Now come at me if you want to settle this right now."

Leon was determined to end Orion right now to guarantee his top one spot and eliminate his greatest competition once and for all.

And if he died to the angel, then so be it, as it simply meant he wasn’t strong enough to win this event.

Unfortunately, it seemed like Orion had no such plans to fight him at this moment, instead choosing to delay their confrontation.

And so instead of engaging, the angel made his move to leave.

Fwoosh!

With speed so high Leon didn’t even have time to activate [Time Stop], Orion slashed, and Leon only barely managed to move out of the way once more.

But this time, he hadn’t managed to fully avoid the attack, the blade catching him as he dodged.

SLASH!

Orion cut Leon’s arm off, the one holding his staff, and it fell to the ground, unresponsive and useless, blood spraying from the wound.

Leon’s eyes widened as he saw that, the realization dawning upon him that he was now at a severe disadvantage against the angel.

But right as he was about to retaliate despite the injury, Orion unleashed his angel wings and flew into the sky.

"See you later, Celestial," Orion grinned devilishly, "But the next time we meet will be our final battle... or if we don’t meet in this event, I guess we’ll see each other in the battlefield, I’m heading to the forest for the next berserker."

Just like that, Orion left the ruined city for good this time, leaving Leon heavily crippled and alone in the plaza with his severed arm on the ground.

"Goddamn it..." he groaned, clutching the stump where his arm used to be, pain shooting through his body.

"Kaaa...?" Alphox emerged from the shadows at that moment to look at Leon’s arm, seemingly confused as to what had happened to his master’s limb.

But Leon simply sighed as he patted the baby dragon’s head with his remaining hand, trying to stay calm.

"Its fine, an amputated arm would usually be a problem for most people..." Leon gazed at his storage space with a smile, "But I can fix it with one of the items I stored."
