Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 72: Cha.72 Hour Of Joy (5)

11:04 AM

"No one is here..." Yasmin commented as she and Qasim arrived at the command room and found no one there.

"That coward isn’t here..." Qasim whispered under his breath, clearly angry.

Suddenly, the entire prison began to shake. Both of them heard massive noises coming from behind them.

They had a bad feeling about the sudden movement, so they retreated back to the inner courtyard.

There, they met up with Valen, who looked injured.

His face was covered in scratches and blood dropping from his broken noise.

"What happened to you?"

"Nothing crazy. Just some bastard ambushed me. Luckily, the activities room had a good set of things that I could use to kill them."

The next moment, the same shaking happened again, and this time it was clear that the sound was coming from the main gate.

Valen looked at his two members.

"If you two want to go and check, you can do that. I need to make sure the others are fine first."

"No. Team Three should be able to deal with their situation by themselves. We should find Levia and Doran—"

"But Yasmin..." Qasim interrupted her, looking at her with his cold eyes.

"The fox might be there... That killer might be at the main gate. Levia and Doran are strong enough to handle themselves. We need to go to the main gate."

"But..." Yasmin looked at the boy, unsure of what the best decision was.

"Go with him, Yasmin. I’ll look for Doran and Levia. Don’t worry."

Valen assured her before walking alone down the right path, leaving the two of them behind.

"Come. We don’t have much time."

Yasmin took one last glance at Valen before following Qasim.

...

11:00 AM

"C’mon, my boys and girls! Show these animals the power of this kingdom’s protectors!"

Yorness shouted at his team with a satisfied smile as he watched the beastkin at the main gate slowly lose their momentum and fall behind.

Team Three was the kingdom’s mage team.

Yorness himself was a Tarbi-Awal, which alone gave him an insane boost in power. On top of that, he was a third-circle mage capable of casting powerful level-three and level-four spells. Combined with his age and vast experience, he was an extremely powerful leader.

His team members were also talented mages whom he had personally selected and trained. Although they were still only Mahik, they were capable of casting first- and second-level spells.

Destroying the gate and entering the prison was only a matter of time. Yorness could see no way for them to be stopped.

Almost ten more minutes passed before one of his students pointed at something climbing over the gate.

"Master... Look over there."

"What the hell is even that...?"

Yorness narrowed his eyes.

He could see a beastkin climbing over the gate with something on her back.

The beastkin finally reached the top. She looked like a hyena and was carrying a box on her back.

"Aghaa!"

She threw the box into the air, causing it to open and reveal several black spheres inside.

Yorness immediately realized what they were.

"Bombs?!"

He quickly created a magical barrier using wind magic. Without triggering a single bomb, he redirected their trajectory toward the main gate.

The hyena saw what he had done and immediately retreated.

The other beastkin weren’t so lucky.

The bombs exploded among them, blowing several of them apart.

"These brats who were born yesterday think they can carelessly throw bombs at me? Ha! What fucking idiots!"

As Team Three gained momentum, they pushed forward toward the main gate, maintaining the pressure.

But in the next second, something happened behind them.

As they pushed forward, something rose from the ground behind them.

Almost a hundred brainwashed, naked humans were now running on all fours toward Team Three, their red eyes staring straight ahead.

Each of them had bombs attached to their bodies.

They were moving incredibly fast, and Team Three couldn’t react in time.

In the next moment, they were surrounded.

Then the humans attacked.

A series of explosions erupted, forcing Yorness and his team to take a defensive formation.

Fortunately, their barrier held against the explosions, but maintaining it consumed a large amount of mana from Team Three’s members.

Yorness looked at his team and clicked his tongue.

"Don’t wa—"

He choked as he felt that pain, he felt liquid filling his lungs and started coughing blood.

Suddenly, Yorness felt an intense pain in his lungs and began coughing blood.

"Did I get poisoned? How? When?"

He was shocked when he realized that he might have been poisoned. However, he narrowed his eyes and clenched his fist.

"Don’t waste any more mana. Let me handle the barrier while you focus on killing these things from a distance!"

As Yorness gave the order, he had to focus all of his attention on maintaining the barrier.

If it were only him, he could simply fly away. Every mage at his level had an always-active barrier around their body, making assassination attempts extremely difficult.

But now he was in a difficult situation.

He had to protect his team, protect the car, maintain the barrier, and deal with an unknown poison that was slowly affecting his body.

"Fine, you fuckers! Bring more things at me! I can take anyth—"

Suddenly, his voice stopped.

His body began shaking violently.

A bloody hole had appeared in his forehead, the shot having entered from the back of his head.

Yorness dropped dead.

The barrier he had been maintaining disappeared, causing the last defense protecting Team Three to collapse.

...

In a rather distant tower, where guards usually stood to watch over the prisoners, a beastkin with a hawk face was sitting on top of the tower.

He was hiding behind the structure while holding a strange weapon made of aura.

Its shape resembled a bolt action rifle from Earth.

"Oh boy... That human was a problem. Thankfully, he’s just a dumb old human blinded by his pride."

Suddenly, the hyena beastkin climbed onto the tower behind him.

"It’s honestly a good thing to have a third-step member with us," she said.

"Oh? Are you saying that you’re unhappy that the boss isn’t a Tarbi-Awal?"

"That’s not how mercenaries should talk about their boss, you know?"

"N-No! Of course not! You know what I meant, Hamz."

"I am joking, I am joking... I don’t even know if I could face that boss if he decided to kill me."

"Anyway, I guess it’s time for me to leave, my job is done here..."

"Oh really? same for me! let’s leave together."

Hamz was about to change his position when he suddenly spotted newcomers approaching the scene.

"Snow haired boy and a girl..."

He narrowed his eyes.

"Oh, aren’t they the humans the boss was interested in? My job is done so it’s not my problem."

He stood up and jumped off the tower, with the hyena following him.

Neither of them was noticed.

11:12 AM

As Yasmin and Qasim arrived at the scene, they were shocked to see Team Three lying dead outside the gate.

"This is not good... We have to go back and tell Valen."

Yasmin said with a serious expression.

Qasim agreed.

The fox wasn’t anywhere nearby.

And that was the only reason he felt they could safely retreat.
