11:15 AM
As Yasmin and Qasim made their way back to the inner courtyard, they suddenly felt a strange pressure being forced against them.
"Someone is probably watching us right now..." Yasmin said without looking at Qasim. "Stay focused."
They returned to the three paths and took the right one, following the path where Doran, Levia, and Valen had gone.
Along the way, they noticed the corpses of several beastkin scattered here and there. But as they continued forward, the strange pressure became stronger and more focused on them.
It was as if someone was watching their every movement.
Neither of them could think about anything else.
Qasim was especially bothered by the presence. There was something strangely familiar about it.
It felt similar to the presence of the fox.
But everything changed when they entered a vast room. Their hearts dropped.
A cold chill ran through their bodies, and for a moment, it felt as if the ground beneath them had disappeared.
"No... No, no, no..."
Yasmin immediately rushed forward, with Qasim following behind. Qasim dropped to one knee in shock.
In front of him stood Valen, who was helping Doran stop the bleeding from his left arm.
The arm had been completely cut off. That alone was enough to raise Qasim’s concern.
But the sight beside them left all of them speechless.
Valen was biting his lower lip, his face filled with sadness.
Yasmin, who had just arrived beside Qasim, covered her mouth with both hands, unable to stop her eyes from shaking.
Meanwhile, Doran—the big guy who always looked like nothing could affect him—was tearing up like a little child.
Qasim slowly approached. Then he looked down.
His hand trembled as he touched the body lying on the cold floor.
It was Levia’s corpse.
Blood had spilled from her mouth. Her hair no longer covered her face, and her eyes were closed. They were closed forever.
Qasim let out a helpless scream.
His heart started beating faster, the image of Levia cold corps repeated in his head even when he closed his eyes.
The kind lady that protects him and shows nothing but concern about him is now dead...Dead.
They had already taken his friend, and now they had taken his teacher too.
With a sob voice he called out Levia’s name... But she didn’t answer.
He then turned his head towards Valen with tears filling his eyes.
"F-Fix her please... Please."
Valen just bites his lips and stays quiet.
Qasim finally was forced to accept that his teacher is now dead, he lowered his head again.
*I am the main character of this world aren’t I? Then why is it that my heart is the one that hurts instead of my enemies?*
Qasim wiped out his tears and asked with a cold tone.
"Was it the fox?"
No one was able to answer. Instead, Valen simply pointed toward another corpse on the floor—one Qasim hadn’t noticed before.
It was a beastkin that looked like a gorilla, with a huge and muscular body.
"We were caught off guard," Doran spoke with a cracked voice, clearly forcing himself to speak.
"This beastkin didn’t use Irada like we expected. Instead, he pretended to be dead after our first attack."
Doran looked down at his missing arm.
"Then he healed himself with the power of the Life Rune... Levia was closer to him and..."
His voice broke."She..."
Doran let out another tired, sorrowful cry before continuing.
"She told me that she felt something inside her being crushed. She told me she was dying, so she unleashed a massive spell... one last powerful spell."
"It pushed him to the verge of death again."
Doran clenched his remaining fist.
"But even with that, he managed to eat through my arm before I killed him."
He looked down at the floor.
"Five fucking Light Beams. One after another, just to kill him in that state..."
His voice became quieter.
"I am so fucking pathetic."
"Doran... I..."
Suddenly, someone interrupted Valen, the team looked toward the entrance.
Another beastkin was standing there, he looked like a lion.
Yasmin immediately rushed toward him, but the lion managed to dodge her attack.
Then, out of nowhere, another arm grew from his side and caught Yasmin off guard before punching her and sending her flying.
"Second Step... and probably an Alchemy user," Valen quickly analyzed.
Qasim and Yasmin regained their balance and prepared to attack together.
But the lion suddenly shouted at them.
"Stop!"
"You already lost. Your other teams at the main gate and the secret tunnel have both been wiped out."
He looked at the four of them.
"You are the only ones left fighting."
"Fuck you."
Yasmin rushed toward him again while Qasim attacked with his fire and electric magic.
Suddenly, the lion’s body began to grow.
His body became larger as he transformed into a much bigger version of himself.
Two heads and four arms.
Qasim’s spells came at him from one direction, while Yasmin attacked from another.
The lion blocked Qasim’s spells with one arm while using the remaining three to defend against Yasmin.
"My leader wants to talk to you. Stop fighting and submit to his will."
Hearing him mention the fox made Qasim’s anger explode.
He increased the damage and frequency of his spells while simultaneously beginning to create a new mana engine for the powerful spell.
Meanwhile, Yasmin fought inside her black cloud, landing slash after slash.
The combined attacks of Qasim and Yasmin slowly pushed the lion backward, but then the lion suddenly roared.
The sound shook the entire room.
Qasim and Yasmin both became dizzy, their movements slowing down.
Taking advantage of the opening, the lion charged forward.
He struck Yasmin and sent her flying, then he blocked another one of Qasim’s spells before punching him as well.
"If you don’t obey, then die!"
The lion raised his claws and moved toward Qasim’s neck, but just before the claws could pierce him, Valen stepped in.
"Stop! We will come."
The lion looked at him with all four eyes before slowly returning to his previous form.
"Follow me."
He then pointed at them.
"And just to remind you... Don’t dare move without my permission."
"I want to send my friend here to a safe place first."
The lion raised an eyebrow and looked at Doran.
"Unacceptable. The leader wants to talk to all of you. Help him stand up and follow me."
The lion turned around and slowly walked away.
Team Four realized that they could no longer continue fighting in their current condition, so they began walking behind him.
Qasim stared at the lion with killing intent, but Valen stopped him.
"We’re being watched, my boy..."
Valen lowered his voice.
"Let’s just roll with this and see where it ends. Once a good opportunity appears, we’ll move, don’t worry."
Although Valen said those words confidently, he wasn’t sure when that opportunity would actually come.
11:30 AM
Team Four followed the lion to the activities room down the middle path until they eventually were in front of a bookshelf.
The lion reached toward the shelf and pulled several books out of their places, a hidden passage was revealed behind them which the group entered.
After walking through the passage, they were greeted by a large room.
In the middle of it was a chair, and sitting on that chair was a beastkin wearing an ugly fox mask.
"Thanks for bringing these creatures to me."
The lion bowed deeply in response.
The masked beastkin slowly raised his hands and removed the fox mask.
The face underneath was even uglier and more frightening.
His left eye was blind, the right side of his mouth was burned, and his nose was deformed and one of his ears was missing.
There was also a large hole in the middle of his skull.
He took a slow deep breath and looked with his right golden eye at Team Four with a sinister smile.
"Yoo..."
