Chapter 74: Cha.74 Hour Of Joy (7)

11:30 AM

"Yoo..."

"I won’t talk much. You humans will have a chance to leave if you manage to play a game."

"First, let’s bring some other humans."

In the next moment, the Lion opened a window behind the Savior.

Team Four’s eyes widened as they saw a hole in the ground with several mindless humans with glowing red eyes roaming around a small space on all fours.

They were naked, and some were heavily deformed, with nails piercing through their eyes and mouths. Others had their hands pierced through their legs. Most of them were either screaming or simply lying there without moving.

The Savior stood up and took a bag that the Lion had prepared, he began throwing some strange green substance onto the ground.

As soon as the humans noticed it, they rushed toward it, despite barely being able to move, they forced their bodies to run, leaving trails of blood behind them as they crawled and stumbled toward the green substance.

They desperately licked it from the ground, tears filling their eyes.

The Savior watched with a smile as the humans fought each other just to get some of it.

Then he took out a key—the one the Lion had also prepared—and tossed it down among the humans.

He then turned back toward Team Four.

"Well, the rules are simple. Go get that key from down there without killing any of those things."

Valen narrowed his eyes.

"What’s the catch?"

The Fox then yawned, revealing his yellow teeth.

"Catch? Oh, no, no. You humans might be liars and break your promises, but us beastkin don’t. Trust me. If you manage to finish three games, I’ll let you all leave..."

He glanced toward Doran.

"Even that useless injured human with you."

Qasim then tilted his head and speaks with a cold voice.

"Last time I checked, one of your followers lied... That Gorilla."

Valen looked toward Qasim, who had shown an aggressive reaction ever since they first met the fox.

Their eyes met, and Valen silently made it clear that Qasim needed to control himself.

But the fox already narrowed his eyes and in the next second... A terrible feeling of thirst for blood and murder pervaded the atmosphere, and its source was clear.

"Silence human, just the fact you all are still alive and standing in front of me with all your body parts attached..."

He then tilted his head just like Qasim did before continuing.

"This shows how much I am controlling myself not to spread your defiled blood on the slaves in that pit."

Qasim was taken back by that phrase but quickly regained his calm when he saw Valen looking at him.

Valen then looked back at the Savior.

"Why would you let us leave?"

the Savior smiled. "Ha! Simple. First, I’m pretty sure you won’t pass all three games. But more importantly..."

Then he licked his lips and narrowed his eyes.

"I don’t really care if weaklings like you stay alive. Humans are already inferior and weak. Humans like you are even worse than trash."

"So stop talking and get to work."

Upon hearing his master’s sentence, the Lion stepped forward.

"You have exactly thirty minutes to find the key. You cannot leave that place under any circumstances until the thirty-minute period has passed. Do you understand?"

Valen nodded, then team Four then jumped down into the pit.

They were careful not to attack anyone while also making sure they weren’t attacked.

At first, they thought the purpose of the game was simply to tire them out—to force them to navigate through these mindless humans who resembled monsters while searching for the key.

"Stay together. Stay alert..."

Valen said as they began moving.

At first, the monsters simply looked at them, they didn’t attack, and didn’t even move.

They just stared at them, almost like people completely lost in a drug-induced state.

Three minutes passed.

The team still hadn’t found the key, but they were already beginning to feel uncomfortable.

There was something disturbing about these creatures simply staring at them without moving.

Then Yasmin suddenly felt something touch her leg, she immediately jumped away, expecting an attack, but instead, she saw one of the monsters crawling toward her.

His head was pressed against the floor, and he was slowly dragging himself forward with one hand while his other arm was pierced through his only remaining leg.

Yasmin felt something strange as she tried to sense the life energy around her.

They weren’t dead, but they weren’t truly alive either.

The realization made her uncomfortable, then her eyes widened.

The monster slowly lifted his head, with bloody tears running down his deformed face.

"Please..."

Yasmin froze.

"Kill me."

"Please... It hurts. Please, I can’t kill myself... Please kill me."

Team Four stared at the scene.

A chill ran through their bodies as more voices began joining in.

"It hurts so much..."

"I can’t see... Where is my child? I can’t see her..."

"No more food... Please, just leave me to die..."

"Kill us, please! It hurts!"

Team Four tried to ignore the sudden turn of events and continued searching for the key.

Five minutes later, they finally found it.

Or rather, one of the monsters brought it to them.

She was a young woman with one missing eye and a mouth sewn shut.

With her only remaining red eye, she stared at Yasmin as she handed her the key.

There was nothing in that eye except pain and suffering.

Yasmin silently took the key and handed it to Valen.

"We got the key. We’ll go back up now."

As the team tried to make their way back up, the Lion’s voice stopped them.

"The thirty minutes aren’t over yet. You must wait."

At that moment, Valen and the others finally realized the real intention behind the game.

It wasn’t about fighting, it wasn’t even about finding the key...It was about forcing them to stay there.

Surrounded by people who had been turned into monsters against their will, people who were now forced to live in endless pain and suffering.

More and more of the monsters began approaching Team Four.

They gently touched them, desperately trying to get their attention.

They saw Team Four as their heroes.

The heroes who could finally end their suffering.

"Please..."

"The green food gave my mind back... but I don’t want it."

"I’m afraid of the dark... Please cut my head off."

Team four hoped they will stop comming, they can see thier sufering, they can hear thier crying... But can do nothing.

"Please kill me. What will my wife and kids say if they see me like this?"

"The pain is unbearable... Please end it all."

"Please kill my child first... She only breathes her own blood."

The humans slowly gathered around Team Four, touching them and desperately begging for their attention.

They saw them as heroes.

The heroes who could finally put an end to their suffering.

"Please..."

All the cries and screams slowly turned into desperate pleas for help.

Team Four couldn’t move, couldn’t speak, they simply stood there in the middle of the crowd with their heads lowered...Hoping for these minutes to pass faster.

This was more brutal than any fight they could have faced in this place.

12:00 AM

After what felt like an eternity, the Lion finally announced that the thirty minutes had fully passed.

As Team Four made their way back up, they could hear the confused collective voices behind them.

"No... Why...?"

"Please come back... Please, I can’t take it anymore..."

Slowly, the voices faded behind them, replaced by the screams and cries of those below.

Yasmin, who was more sensitive to the atmosphere around her, clenched her fists and bit her lower lip frustrated by her inability to do anything for those miserable creatures.

"Well, that was entertaining."

The Savior was sitting there, completely unbothered by what had happened.

Instead, he was enjoying the expressions on Team Four’s faces.
