Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 7: Target ConfirmedThe quiet piano music floated through the candlelit dining room of The Celestial Dining.
After Prescott and Giselle were escorted out, the restaurant manager personally served Evren and Amber their gourmet meals: seared Wagyu beef, buttered lobster, and fresh fruit parfaits.
For the first time since they met, the constant pressure of survival finally lifted.
Evren cut a piece of tender steak, setting it onto Amber’s plate. "You know, two days ago, I was surviving on instant noodles and working fourteen-hour delivery shifts just to pay off my late mother’s hospital debt."
Amber looked up with gentle curiosity in her eyes. "Your mother?"
Evren nodded. "She was an F-Rank worker too. She worked herself to exhaustion. When she got sick, the hospitals demanded fifty thousand dollars upfront. I worked day and night, but I couldn’t save her in time."
He took a sip of water. "Giselle was my girlfriend back then. The moment my mother passed and my savings dried up, she left for Prescott."
Amber looked down at her hands, her silver ring catching the warm candlelight.
"I know what it feels like to be discarded," Amber whispered softly. "Before my spine was shattered in the Rift, I was the Captain of Sterling Guild’s first squad. Everyone praised me. Executives bowed to me, and guild leaders called me a prodigy. But none of them actually cared about me."
She looked into Evren’s eyes. "The moment my mana core fractured and my legs went numb, those same executives stopped answering my calls. My own birth family locked me in an annex room and handed me away like unwanted trash."
Amber paused, a small, genuine smile spreading across her face. "You’re the first person who ever treated me like a real human being, Evren. Not as a captain, and not as a cripple."
Evren reached across the table, gently squeezing her hand. "You’re not a cripple, Amber. You’re going to stand on your own feet again. I promise you."
Amber blushed, her heart hammering against her ribs as she squeezed his hand back tightly.
For the next hour, they ate, talked, and laughed softly together, enjoying a peaceful warmth neither had felt in years.
After dinner, Evren pushed Amber’s wheelchair back down to the Crown Penthouse. He carried her carefully into the master bedroom, laid her down on the king-sized bed, and tucked the warm silk duvet around her shoulders.
"Rest well, Amber," Evren said gently.
"Goodnight, Evren," she whispered as she drifted into a peaceful sleep.
—
Evren walked out into the spacious living room and sat down on the plush leather armchair.
He leaned back, focusing his mind. The translucent golden system interface flared brightly in front of his eyes.
[DING! Heroine Amber’s Trust Level Has Reached 25%! (First Milestone Achieved!)]
[System Milestone Reward Unlocked: System Fortune Wheel Spin Available!]
"Spin," Evren commanded mentally.
A massive golden roulette wheel covered in ancient glowing runes materialized in front of him.
The wheel spun rapidly, its golden pointer blurring past various rewards: Divine Artifacts, Corporate Shares, High-Rank Elixirs, and Combat Skills.
Slowly, the wheel decelerated, ticking past the final slots before stopping cleanly on a brilliant crimson emblem.
BEEP!
[GRAND PRIZE UNLOCKED: S-Rank Valkyrie Body Forge & Basic Martial Reflexes (Level 1)!]
[Effect: User’s physical attributes, reaction speed, and muscle density multiplied by 10x!]
[Innate Mastery Unlocked: Basic S-Rank Hand-to-Hand & Swordsmanship Skill!]
The moment the notification cleared, a wave of warm golden mana erupted inside Evren’s chest.
The mana rushed through his bloodstream like liquid fire, fusing into his muscles, bones, and nerve pathways.
Evren gasped as his physical frame tightened. His eyesight became sharp, his hearing heightened, and his reaction speed expanded into a hyper-aware field of perception.
He flexed his hand. He could feel raw, condensed power flowing through his fingers. He was no longer just a weak F-Rank rider...his physical body had been forged into an elite S-Rank combat vessel.
Late that night, before sleeping, Evren sat at the Penthouse desk and reviewed the operational reports Barton had brought in his briefcase.
Evren had worked for DashExpress for two years, but reading the internal balance sheets exposed just how corrupt Barton’s management had been: slashing rider pay, stealing holiday tips, and denying health coverage to injured workers.
—
The next morning, Evren met with VIP Wealth Manager Mikay at Apex National Bank’s corporate branch.
"Chairman Evren," Mikay bowed respectfully, presenting a tablet. "DashExpress operations have been fully secured under your name. However, Prescott Guild executives are trying to pressure regional logistics hubs to boycott our delivery riders."
Evren didn’t flinch. "Transfer five million dollars into DashExpress immediately."
"Five million dollars, sir?" Mikay asked.
"Rebrand the company into Apex Logistics & Security," Evren ordered. "Upgrade our app servers with top-tier cybersecurity, hire licensed Awakener guards to protect every delivery hub, and overhaul our staff welfare. Raise rider pay across the board by thirty percent, provide full medical insurance, and ban all unfair manager fines."
Mikay’s eyes lit up with deep admiration. "Brilliant, Chairman! The delivery riders will fight for this company with their lives!"
"Brilliant, Chairman!" Mikay smiled enthusiastically, executing the order.
Bank Alert: $5,000,000.00 transferred to Apex Logistics Corporate Account.
Remaining Balance: $19,950,042.50.
—
Around 3:00 AM that night, silence settled over Apex Tower.
Rain drummed softly against the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the Crown Penthouse. Inside the master bedroom, Amber was sleeping soundly.
In the dark living room, Evren stood near the balcony doors, wearing a black silk robe. His hyper-aware S-Rank perception picked up a faint, metallic clicking sound coming from the outer terrace.
Click. Click.
Four stealth-cloaked figures silently dropped onto the balcony, using mana-muffling boots to bypass the building’s outer sensors. They wore black tactical gear with dark red skull emblems stitched onto their shoulders... the Shadow-Blade Mercenary Guild.
The lead assassin slid open the glass balcony door without making a sound. In his right hand was a jagged, poison-coated trench dagger glowing with faint purple mana.
"Target confirmed," the lead assassin whispered into his comms, pointing his blade toward the dark bedroom. "Eliminate target. Silent kill."
"Looking for me?" a calm voice echoed through the dark living room.
The four assassins froze.
Evren stepped out from the shadows, his hands casually tucked into his robe pockets. His dark eyes glowed with a faint, golden mana aura in the dim moonlight.
The lead assassin sneered under his tactical mask. "A lavish billionaire playing brave? You picked the wrong night to stay awake, kid."
In a split second, the lead assassin burst forward.
His body blurred into a dark streak of speed, thrusting his poison-coated blade straight toward Evren’s throat at lethal speed! An ordinary F-Rank Awakener would have been impaled before even seeing the blade move.
To Evren’s S-Rank hyper-perception, the assassin’s movement looked as slow as a crawling snail.
Evren didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t even take his left hand out of his pocket.
The instant the poison dagger came within three inches of his neck, Evren’s right hand shot out.
CRACK!
Evren caught the lead assassin’s right wrist in a vice-like grip, halting his momentum dead in mid-air!
"What?!" the assassin gasped in horror.
Before the assassin could react, Evren twisted his wrist inward with terrifying force.
SNAP!
The assassin screamed in agony as his wrist bone shattered. The poison dagger slipped from his limp fingers.
Evren caught the falling dagger mid-air with his left hand, spun the assassin around, and slammed him face-first onto the marble floor.
The impact cracked the marble tiles. The remaining three assassins gasped in shock, pulling their weapons, but Evren was already moving.
SWOOSH!
Evren blurred past them. In three fluid strikes, he swept their legs, shattered their weapon arms, and threw all three mercenaries crashing into the wall, unconscious.
The entire fight had lasted less than four seconds.
Evren walked back over to the lead assassin, who was groaning in pain on the cracked floor, blood trickling from his nose.
Evren placed his heavy boot onto the lead assassin’s chest, pinning him down completely. He flipped the stolen poison dagger in his hand and pressed the cold, razor-sharp tip directly against the assassin’s throat.
The lead assassin’s eyes bulged in pure terror, sweating profusely under his mask.
Evren looked down at him. "Who hired you?"
