Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 385 - 270: Take This Holy Light InfusionThis Magic could make them forget their fear, buying him some time.
After all, even the most cowardly Timid Demon would dare to attack a High Tier Demon when empowered by this Curse.
They wouldn’t stop their bloodlust until the Magic wore off or they ran out of stamina.
The Demons, clutching their weapons, began to close in again, their eyes filled with madness as reason abandoned them.
Unfortunately, the Demon Wizard had forgotten one thing: there was another way to dispel this kind of buffing Magic—just kill the recipient.
The Lord leaped straight off his wolf’s back, letting it fight on its own. He then tossed away the Giant Sword that was now just a hilt, drew the Mithril Holy Sword from his waist, and charged straight for the distant Horned Demon Wizard with a roar.
’Caster units are always the first target to kill before a battle begins,’ the Lord thought. ’They’re just as important as the commander.’
The Demons, empowered by the Magic, had forgotten their fear and charged forward recklessly.
But if even a Berserk Minotaur couldn’t stop the Lord, what chance did a mob of the lowest-tier Demons have?
The Lord couldn’t even be bothered to swing his sword. He just crossed his arms in front of his chest, lowered his head, and plowed forward.
Those Demons were sent flying as if hit by a charging truck, their chests caving in. They were definitely not getting back up.
For a moment, blood and gore filled the air amidst incessant wails of agony.
The others weren’t idle either. The Jackal Wolfman Cavalry and Fujero’s men were picking off the terrified Demons, while the Centaur Heavy Cavalry continued to slice through the collapsing enemy lines, scattering them further.
The Horned Demon Wizard could only watch as his Demons fell one after another. As the human, more terrifying than any Demon, drew closer, he screamed in terror in his heart.
"Stay away!"
Unfortunately, he didn’t possess any top-tier Magic like "Words Become Law." The sneering face only got closer.
The Six-armed Snake Demons, peerless in their martial prowess, charged forward without fear of death, their six arms brandishing various weapons.
They were the top-tier warriors of the Pyramid, invincible beings, the result of the Deities playing favorites during Creation. They possessed the power to shatter the world.
They never feared a powerful enemy, afrai—
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
The sharp blade was as fast as lightning. All they saw was a brilliant flash before their consciousness faded into chaos.
"Tch," the Lord spat. "And here I thought you were supposed to be some scary badasses. Nothing special."
The Lord spat on the ground, then turned to the Horned Demon Wizard, who was now just one large stride away.
Their eyes met. One was filled with a cold sneer; the other was already consumed by fear.
As expected, a Caster caught in close quarters was no harder to deal with than a rabbit, especially when the one closing in was the Lord himself.
"Gotcha, you little bastard."
With a malevolent grin, Levi snatched the creature by the throat, hoisting it into the air.
The short Horned Wizard dangled in the towering Levi’s grasp, its short little legs kicking futilely.
The Six-armed Snake Demons, invincible in the eyes of the Low Tier Demons, had been cut down like melons. The empowering Magic vanished into thin air.
Unable to bear the sight any longer, the remaining Demons began to wail and flee in all directions.
Unfortunately, two legs couldn’t possibly outrun four. However, neither the Centaurs nor the Jackal Wolfmen blocked their escape to wipe them out completely. Instead, they deliberately herded the fleeing Demons toward Kolon.
Just as they had run to the point of exhaustion, no longer seeing the terrifying butchers at their backs, and were collapsing to the ground, the sound of the earth trembling reached them once more.
Ranks of Knights emerged from the woods, coldly observing the exhausted Demons.
Utterly drained and exhausted, the Demons couldn’t run even if they wanted to. They watched with ashen faces.
In their hearts, they cursed these damned humans with every vile word in the language of the Abyss.
An inhuman slaughter began. No one felt any pity for Demons; the only principle was to leave none alive.
The sun set in the west, painting the horizon a deep red. The slaughter of Demons was finally nearing its end. Only a few Little Demons were kept alive for interrogation.
The verdant green grass was stained scarlet, and the blood turned the earth into a muddy mire.
"This will be some fertile pasture next year." Levi looked as if he had just taken a swim in a sea of blood. With every step he took, bits of flesh and gore fell from the crevices in his Armor.
"Hog, what’s the casualty report?"
The Lord sat commandingly on a blue-green rock and casually asked the returning Hog.
"My Lord, including Gus and his men, only a few dozen of our brothers suffered minor injuries. No one died."
"But it seems Fujero’s men lost a few dozen."
Hog reported truthfully.
Neither of them was shocked by these casualty numbers.
The bulk of these Demons were composed of Little Demons and Babu Demons. The former were the most numerous, but their combat strength was on par with Goblins, and their equipment consisted of nothing more than pitchforks, rocks, and other such weapons. They posed no threat whatsoever.
The latter, the Babu Demons, were about as strong as trained local Militia. Their equipment, looted from Andao, was decent, but there were only a few thousand of them.
Facing a charge from Centaurs clad in Three-Layered Heavy Armor, the Demons’ weapons could only leave scratches, while they themselves were trampled to a pulp.
With the most threatening elements—the Six-armed Snake Demons and the Caster—personally eliminated by Levi, he would have been puzzled if his well-equipped Centaurs and Jackal Wolfmen, who had leveled up several times, had suffered any significant casualties.
He felt that, aside from the Horned Demon Wizard and the Six-armed Snake Demons, this demonic host wasn’t even as strong as the Alliance Army in the Wilderness.
Back then, even his ragtag Beastman Warriors had managed to overcome an enemy force more than ten times their size with only a handful of casualties.
To say nothing of his fully-equipped Heavy Centaur Cavalry now.
In an era of cold weapons, cavalry was simply far superior to infantry. On flat ground, two thousand cavalry could rout ten thousand infantry.
At the Lord’s command, the Demon corpses were collected, piled up in an open area, and set ablaze.
Levi was worried that one of the Demon Wizards might possess Magic capable of resurrecting the dead, so to eliminate any future trouble, he decided to burn them all to ash.
By the time they finished, the sky was completely dark. Only the crackling pyre of bodies in the distance illuminated the surroundings, and the acrid stench of burning fat drifted far and wide on the north wind.
The men set up camp upwind to avoid having the stench ruin their appetites.
Inside a makeshift tent, Fujero stared with a complicated expression at the young man in front of him, who was voraciously gnawing on a sheep’s trotter. He couldn’t reconcile this image with the peerless, god-like warrior from the battle earlier.
"My Lord," he said with a sigh, "sometimes I really wonder if you’re the Holy Light Goddess’s illegitimate son."
’Comparisons are odious,’ he thought. ’It was one thing for the man to be absurdly strong, but his Holy Light Cultivation was unrivaled in this era. If he went to the Holy Light Church, the Pope himself would probably have to scoot over and offer up his throne to this Lord, the one the Goddess herself seemed desperate to favor.’
That Holy Light Divine Skill was powerful, but it was still a bit less flashy than some other kinds of Magic. However, in an age where Holy Knights were nearly extinct, such a move was exceedingly rare.
"Damn you, are you trying to curse me?" The Lord rolled his eyes dramatically.
’I declared I was the reincarnation of the War God to those brutes at High Cliff Castle,’ he thought. ’If I’m suddenly the Holy Light Goddess’s illegitimate son, wouldn’t that mess up the family tree?’
’Now, if you said I was the Holy Light Goddess’s lover, I might just swallow my pride and accept it.’
"Bring that little punk up for questioning." Having eaten his fill, the Lord wiped his mouth and clapped his hands.
As a Wizard who commanded powerful Magic, the prisoner was receiving all the treatment he deserved: a stinking sock that hadn’t been washed in who-knows-how-many-months was stuffed in his mouth, and his hands and feet were tied to a wooden pole.
He was carried into the tent by two Jackal Wolfmen and thrown onto the ground.
"Untie him," Levi said with a snap of his fingers.
Fujero drew his Longsword. There was a flash of white light, the ropes fell away, and the sword was already sheathed.
"Nice swordplay, Old Fu," the Lord said, giving him a thumbs-up.
